The Torrox Spanish History Group (TSHG) meets on the first Monday of each month at the Bio Beach Restaurant in El Morche. And thanks to Naythan and DigameXtra there were 28 people who turned up for our gathering on Monday April 3rd. The next meeting will be held on Monday May 1st, starting at 11:00 am.
The subject for the upcoming May meeting is the ‘Background to the Spanish Civil War’. The talk will be presented by member Keith Rockall. Please come along and support him.

Accident victims call for compulsory insurance for electric scooter riders in Spain:

Authorised roads will be indicated in a municipal law, but if there is no rule, they would be allowed to circulate on any urban roadway. Their speed should be between six and 25 km/h. In addition, the DGT recognises that each local council has its own rules and it is up to the councils themselves to decide how to act to regulate the use of the scooters.
– In view of this situation, Spain’s national association of lawyers for accident and civil liability (ANAVA-RC ) has called for compulsory insurance for electric scooters.
– Private individuals are not obliged to insure PMVs and it is up to the users to have liability and third party damage insurance. In the case of rental scooters, if a company offers the user the possibility of having insurance, it is most likely that they are unaware of the guarantees it covers, so there is great legal uncertainty in this respect “and what is more serious, the user thinks that they are covered by unlimited civil liability insurance, which is not true,” Castellanos said. Judges and prosecutors announce intention to go on indefinite strike from 16 May: {Translation, summary}
– Three judges’ associations and two prosecutors’ associations have announced on Monday their intention to call an indefinite strike from 16 May in view of the “lack of concrete proposals” and “real intention to negotiate” from the Ministries of Justice and Finance to improve their salaries and reduce their workload.
– The strike of the judicial lawyers (LAJ) was settled in March after two months of paralysis of the Courts; that provides between 430 and 450 euros more per month. This has undoubtedly opened the pandora’s box of the demands of the other groups that work in the Administration of Justice. – The third vice-president and minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, has warned the Andalusian regional government that if it does not withdraw the draft law on irrigation in the Doñana area, she will go to the Constitutional Court and will pass on the possible European sanctions that Brussels may impose on the Kingdom of Spain to Andalucia for failing to maintain the good condition of the Doñana National Park.
– “The Government demands that the Andalusian Government and the Andalusian Parliament withdraw the Bill. I ask Moreno Bonilla and Núñez Feijoó to stop putting the future of Spain at risk,” Ribera demanded at a press conference on Monday in Madrid, after concluding the meeting of Andalusian authorities on Monday in Brussels with the European Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius.
– Ribera insisted that there is no discussion or interpretation, the irrigation plan increases the risk in order to comply with the ruling of the European Court of Justice and, therefore, it is only possible for Andalusia to withdraw the bill, he stressed.
– Therefore, she reiterated that, if this bill goes ahead, the European Commission will use “all the means at its disposal”, including the possibility of going back to the Court of Justice and requesting the imposition of fines against the Kingdom of Spain. “It has already done so on other occasions and insists that it will not have the slightest issue with regard to the need to do so in this case,” he warned. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA
Rincón de la Victoria will hold the IX Certamen de Copla with twenty participants from different Andalusian provinces: {Translation}

But it’s not only invading the internet and business – it is poised to rewrite the rules of satellite surveillance as well.
– Google Earth, Google Maps and Google Streetview systems already have removed the inherent right to privacy and transferred it to the whim of corporate terms and conditions. However, this pales in comparison to what has been launched by the world’s largest defence contractors, as well as newer providers of commercial space imagery. ChatGPT has coupled with Google Earth Engine for advanced image processing…we are clearly heading toward real-time satellite tracking of anyone, and any place, on Earth. (Can you imagine what life will be like if all someone has to do is ask a chatbot where you are, and they will be shown a real-time satellite image of you, or the place you are inside of, including exact coordinates?!?
