– My famous Clean & TuneUp Special is back, for Windows & Mac.
If you rely on your computer and want it running at peak performance, free of data collectors and trackers, an annual professional servicing is necessary. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware/tracker removal protocol, clean out junk files/logs/history/etc., update Windows(or MacOS)+all drivers+programs and finally optimize your settings and registry for fastest overall performance.
Heavily infected comps, computers taking more than 2 minutes to startup or shutdown, or showing error messages, those need a repair, not a maintenance service. HDD hard disks of 1000Gb or more add €10.

SPAIN
Telefónica to switch off its copper land-line network on 19 April 2024, its centenary day: {Translation}
– Telefónica will close its entire copper network in Spain on 19 April 2024, the company’s centenary, after notifying the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) on Wednesday of the closure of the last 3,329 exchanges.
– In this way, the operator has taken the final step to complete the copper switch-off and lead the conversion to a fibre optic network among European and Latin American telecommunications companies, according to a statement.
– The company has announced the closure of the 8,532 exchanges that made up its network in a process ordered by the CNMC to prevent customers from being left without service. To date, the company has closed 2,236 exchanges.
– “Telefónica continues to make progress in its transformation to remain a leader. The new digital world passes through our networks,” said Telefónica Chairman José María Álvarez-Pallete, who highlighted the milestone for the company’s decarbonisation that this step represents. In terms of emissions, fibre optics consumes 18 times less than copper with equivalent traffic. Telefónica estimates that the environmental impact of its new network is 94% less than the previous one.
– For his part, the president of Telefónica España, Emilio Gayo, has stressed that the decision to stop using copper will allow the company to become a firm with a 100% fibre fixed network. In this way, the company has pointed out that the combination of fibre optics and 5G, whose coverage already reaches 85% of the country, will act as an enabler of the new digital society. Aemet warns of exceptionally high temperatures, over 35 degrees in the coming week: {Translation} 23/04/2023 14:46
– The entry of a mass of very warm and dry African air over the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands over the next few days will leave “exceptionally high temperatures” for the time of year, which could reach values of up to 35 degrees in large parts of the country and even 40 degrees in the Guadalquivir valley.
– The Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned in a statement that this sharp rise in temperatures will be due to stable atmospheric conditions and strong sunshine throughout the country, which will cause a “progressive and marked rise” in maximum temperatures, with values typical of summer.
– On Tuesday and, especially on Wednesday, it is expected that the maximum temperatures will be above 30 degrees in much of the southern half of the peninsula, and locally also in the Ebro valley, inland Murcia and Valencia and in the Guadalquivir valley and inland Huelva and Cadiz, where they can reach 35 degrees.
(The Guadalquivir valley is the most fertile area in Andalucia, broadening out from east to west. From its lower end, a broad plain stretches west across Huelva province and southeast into Cádiz province. Near its mouth, the Guadalquivir splits into a marshy delta known as Las Marismas del Guadalquivir which includes the Parque Nacional de Doñana.)
– Aemet has highlighted the likelihood that on Thursday and Friday will reach “the culminating phase of this episode” with 30 degrees in much of the northern half of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with the exception of the extreme north of the peninsula.
– In the Cantabrian Sea and Galicia, although temperatures will be “abnormally high, exceeding 25 degrees”, they are not expected to reach 30 degrees, the Agency explained, stressing that in the southern half of the peninsula and in the Ebro valley, temperatures will generally reach 35 degrees, with greater intensity in the Guadalquivir valley, where they could reach up to 40 degrees.
– With regard to minimum temperatures, they will also be “abnormally high throughout the country”, especially in Andalusia, where locally there may be tropical nights without dropping below 20 degrees.
– Aemet has predicted that late on Saturday and more likely on Sunday there will be a notable drop in temperatures due to the entry of a mass of cooler, wetter air from the west of the peninsula, which could leave isolated storms in the northern half of the peninsula.
– With regard to temperatures, on Saturday temperatures will still exceed 30 degrees in the northern half and the Balearic Islands, and 35 degrees in the southern half and the Ebro valley, and on Sunday, with the entry of westerly winds, the maximum values are expected on the Mediterranean coasts, which could reach 35 degrees, and where the temperature drop would have to wait until Monday.
– In the Guadalquivir valley and the Ebro valley, temperatures could still reach 30 degrees on Sunday, but in the rest of the country lower values are expected, bringing to an end this episode of exceptionally high temperatures for the time of year.

Alcaucín wildfire declared controlled and the one in Mijas is stabilised:
– Two forest fires were declared Saturday evening, 22 April, in Malaga province, one in Mijas and another in Alcaucín.
– The first, in Mijas, started at around 6pm. At 9.20pm, Infoca reported it was stabilised and the ground operation continued working to control it.
– The one in Alcaucín, declared at almost the same time, was tackled by a Super Puma helicopter, a group of forest firefighters, a Brica brigade, an operations technician, a fire engine and an environment agent. At 8.20pm Infoca considered it was controlled, although teams remained in the area to fully extinguish it. (Update: It is now declared extinguished. 12:38 pm 23 Apr 2023, see twitter post.) Malaga cyber crime gang swindles 70,000 euros from ‘love’ victim by posing as Ukraine humanitarian doctor:
– Four people have been arrested by National Police in Malaga after swindling 70,000 euros from a female victim who believed she was sending the funds to a doctor who was on a UN humanitarian mission to Ukraine. The victim had fallen in love with the social network profile of a fake doctor, in which the criminals had used the real photos and details of a rhinoplasty specialist from Turkey.
The gang that has now been dismantled, with the arrests in Malaga, targeted more than a hundred other victims throughout Spain and across Europe.
– National Police officers in Malaga have also dismantled another cybercrime gang, as SUR has recently reported, in which a local lawyer was tricked into losing 300,000 euros over five years. She had believed that the person to whom she was giving the money was an American military man with whom she had fallen in love. In that scam there were 60 victims throughout Spain. – An agricultural fire broke out this Sunday afternoon in some palm groves and cane fields located between Motril and Salobreña, in the La Vega area, next to the pulp mill.
– The Motril and Almuñécar Firefighters, the Forest Fire Fighting Service (Infoca Plan), the Local Police, the National Police and the Civil Protection Volunteer Group have traveled to the area where the agricultural stubble fire originated.
