NOTICE!
Submissions for posting in sections below
must include this info or they will be returned !!!
Sender's First Name / Nearest Town

Note: You may additionally include a location to meet or pickup,
but your location is required in any case. If selling an item from a location different from where you reside, you must include both.
For example: "...Buyer collects in Nerja, John/Malaga"
Why? DigameXtra covers a large area. So, for example, readers in Motril are unlikely to make recommendations, or call about most for-sale items, if they know you are located in Coin. As for including both locations in for-sale posts, the buyer needs to know where to collect the item, but they will also want to know where you are from in case there is a problem. Your cooperation is appreciated.

UGT asks for an increase in the minimum wage: A minimum interprofessional salary (SMI) of 1,100 euros per month, 10% more than today, is requested by the general secretary of the UGT, Pepe Álvarez this Monday. The union leader has pointed out that, due to high inflation, this year we should go to a minimum wage in the terms in which inflation is, that is, at 10%. “Place the SMI at those 1,100 euros”, Álvarez stated in a statement to the media. Anti-Logic at work- Authorities Claim A Tourist Tax Will Not Reduce Tourism?:
– These officials seem to forget the whole reason Costa del Sol is (was) so popular, is exactly because it was inexpensive compared to other destinations. There have been modest price increases for tourism related items recently, and that has surely driven away some budget-minded tourists, but many tourists understand the situation, so are willing to pay a bit more. Now officials want to further aggravate that situation by making local tourism even more expensive for visitors with a new tax? The tourism sector is still struggling to recover from Covid, and they are doing their best to hold tourism prices steady despite soaring inflation, to attract the tourists they are desperate for. These officials are convinced a new tax will not hurt tourist numbers? What if they are wrong? They provide zero evidence supporting their position. Sevillian Socialist anti-logic at its finest. No wonder they got hammered in the recent Andalucian elections. See next article for more opposition views. -Ed.
– The mayors of Malaga and Seville are both in favour of a tourist tax in their cities. They have both said they are in favour of the idea of a tourist tax for visitors who stay overnight, because it would help to finance the public services they provide and the work they do on promotion. “This is something that Seville council has been suggesting for the past seven years, because we are convinced that it will not reduce the amount of tourism and would provide income which can be used to improve public services and promotion.”

Andalusian hoteliers point out “the absolute ignorance” of the tourist tax: {Translation}
– The Andalusian hoteliers have indicated this Tuesday their opposition to the tourist tax, a measure that, by taxing the cost of overnight stays, they consider as a possible “handicap” for them.
– This was stated by the secretary general of the Andalusian Federation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (Fahat), Rafael Barba, after the meeting this weekend between the mayor of Seville, Antonio Muñoz, and the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, to address various issues concerning their cities and in which the issue of the tourist tax arose, a matter on which the Malaga councillor said that it is “positive, as long as there is consensus with the sector”.
– In this sense, Barba pointed out that what the federation currently knows about the measure are “rumours”, as they have not received “any paper with the ideas”.
– On this measure, which according to him is “a new occurrence that has to do with the heat of the tourist season”, he said that the hotel sector is in a “situation of absolute ignorance”, as they do not know “what method it has, its amount or how the money raised is going to be invested”, among other issues.
– Barba also pointed out that the name of the proposal, ‘tourist tax’, is “a euphemism”, as they do not agree that it can be called a ‘tax’, as they consider it to be “a tax that only affects one activity”, nor do they consider the term ‘tourist’ to be approved, as they believe that “tourism covers a wide range of sectors and this measure only affects one of them – the hotel sector”.
– “What experience tells us is that in the end this income goes into the council’s coffers, which is why one becomes defensive, and even more so if there is no information about it,” he added. The secretary general specified that they fear that “everything will go to the chapter of the single coffers” and that “it will be very difficult to know what the real return on this supposed tax is”.
– Finally, the president of Fahat asked for “concreteness” about this proposal and “to call a spade a spade”, as “this is just another tax, with an obvious desire to collect money”. UK inflation to top 18% as gas prices soar, banking giant Citi forecasts:
– The spiraling rate will tighten the squeeze on households already wrestling with the deepening cost of living crisis and ramp up pressure on the central bank to take firmer action in a bid to curb runaway prices.
– UK inflation is set to top 18% in January – the highest point in more than 40 years and nine times the Bank of England’s target – due to rocketing wholesale gas prices, a global investment bank has forecast.
– Citi has predicted the retail energy price cap would surge to £4,567 in January and then £5,816 in April, compared with the current level of £1,971 a year, according to reports. ENERGY CRISIS

The price of electricity in Spain soars on Tuesday to 365.33 euros/MWh, its highest level since the Iberian exception: {Translation, summary}
– This will be the highest level since the so-called “Iberian exception” came into force in mid-June, and the price of 360 euros/MWh will be exceeded for the first time, including the compensation to gas companies.
– This increase in the price of electricity comes at a time when the price of TTF gas in Holland, the European market benchmark, is at a record high, with futures for September trading on Monday at a new high of almost 290 euros/MWh, after registering a rise of more than 18%.
– In the absence of the ‘Iberian exception’ mechanism to cap the price of gas for electricity generation, the price of electricity in Spain would be on average around 476.76 euros/MWh, which is around 111.43 euros/MWh more than with the compensation for regulated tariff customers, who will thus pay 23.37% less on average.
– The ‘Iberian mechanism’, which came into force on 15 June, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh for a period of twelve months, thus covering the coming winter, a period when energy prices are more expensive.

Europe braces for more cuts in Russian oil and gas exports: Europe faces fresh disruption to energy supplies due to damage to a pipeline system that brings oil from Kazakhstan through Russia, the pipeline operator said on Monday, adding to concerns over a plunge in gas supplies that could drive consumer prices much higher.
– CPC, which handles about 1% of global oil and whose largest shareholder is Russian pipeline firm Transneft, said exports from two of its three mooring points at a Black Sea terminal had been suspended, confirming a Reuters report.
– CPC said it had to suspend loadings from its SPM-1 and SPM-2 mooring points due to damage at “the attachment points of underwater sleeves to buoyancy tanks”. It said loadings were only being processed from SPM-3 and so oil loading requests would have to be reduced. The PP will vote against the energy saving decree if the government does not correct it this Tuesday: {Translation}
– The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, has announced that his party will vote this Thursday against the decree law on energy saving unless this Tuesday, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Government corrects it and eliminates what it considers to be “frivolities”.
– In a press conference at the PP headquarters, Bendodo has indicated that the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, two days before the vote in Congress, is a “magnificent opportunity” to correct the decree law and eliminate issues such as turning off shop windows or reducing air conditioning, which he defines as “frivolities”, and to add issues such as transport subsidies. “If the government withdraws all the frivolous measures, if it opts for protection and road transport aid, we will vote in favour; but if not, we will vote against,” he said.

European stock markets close in red due to the risk of recession and the dollar once again exceeds the euro: The European weakness is reflected in the value of its currency, since the dollar once again surpassed the euro, as had already happened last July, although this time the difference represents the lowest level of the European currency in 20 years , placing its value at 0.9951 ‘greenbacks’.
