Bio Beach Restaurant – El Morche: Updated Event Date
– Summer is officially over and the September Solstice is behind us. But the good times with great Bio Beach programs are still many to come our way! Do you like the Music of the Mid-Sixties?? If yes, then join us in a couple of weeks at Bio Beach on the second Wed. of Oct. for the U3A Bio Beach lectures Series!! By popular demand, on Oct. 12th at 11 am, Ray Sulivan will present his absorbing and heel-kicking taped musical program that most U3A members, who know him, will not miss! It is entitled “How Merseybeat conquered America’s pop charts in 1964/65”: Here is what the speaker, Ray Sullivan details about his program: “My talk charts the state of the British pop scene thru to the Merseybeat explosion of 1962/64 and the subsequent British invasion of America, spearheaded by The Beatles and The Searchers. The music has been recorded on c.d. and there are 24 tracks. The presentation lasts just under 2 hours with an interval of approx. 20 minutes. Clapping, singing, and dancing are encouraged and a fun time will hopefully be had by all.”
– These U3A programmes are free, just order refreshments. We belong to U3A, (http://www.u3aaxarquia.com/) and these social, educational, and stimulating mornings are presented in an effort to attract more members. Bio Beach Restaurant is located on the El Morche beachfront promenade (right behind the church). We look forward to seeing you there! For more info contact norma2kk@aol.com

NOTICE!
Submissions for posting in sections below
must include this info or they will be returned !!!
Sender's First Name / Nearest Town

Note: You may additionally include a location to meet or pickup,
but your location is required in any case. If selling an item from a location different from where you reside, you must include both.
For example: "...Buyer collects in Nerja, John/Malaga"
Why? DigameXtra covers a large area. So, for example, readers in Motril are unlikely to make recommendations, or call about most for-sale items, if they know you are located in Coin. As for including both locations in for-sale posts, the buyer needs to know where to collect the item, but they will also want to know where you are from in case there is a problem. Your cooperation is appreciated.

ANDALUCIA

A magnitude 3.6 earthquake in Granada is felt in Malaga this Sunday morning:
– In the last week there have been five seismic tremors that have had their epicentre in Malaga city and various other towns of the province.
– There has been more seismic activity in the south of Spain on Saturday night and during the early hours of this Sunday, 2 October, in the Granada municipalities of Huétor-Tájar and Salar.
– The most intense was recorded at 7.44am this Sunday in Huétor-Tájar and it was felt in Malaga province, according to the 112 Andalucía emergency service coordination centre. This earthquake had a magnitude of 3.6 and it was registered at only two kilometres depth. Earlier, at 6.59am, Spain’s National Geographic Institute (IGN) detected another tremor of 2.9, with its epicentre in Huétor-Tájar and also two kilometres deep.
– Meanwhile, in the municipality of Salar, several earthquakes were recorded during the night, two of them of magnitude 2.3 (at 2.44am) and 2.2 (at 8.28am) at a depth of four kilometres. In the same town, a 3.7 magnitude tremor had been recorded several days ago, specifically on 29 September at 11.15am just one kilometre underground. 112 Andalucía has confirmed that there are no personal injuries caused by the earthquake in any of the three municipalities. Andalusia begins this Monday vaccination against the flu and the fourth dose Covid: {Translation, summary} 02/10/2022 10:41
– This Monday, 3 October, begins the vaccination against influenza and the administration of the fourth dose against Covid-19 to people in residential centres for the elderly and centres for the disabled, to people over 80 years of age and to staff and trainees in health and social-health centres.
– Two weeks later, on 17 October, the flu and Covid vaccines will be given to people between 65 and 79 years of age, as well as to those between five and 64 years of age with chronic pathologies, pregnant women, dependent adults and their carers.
– In addition, from the same date, children between six and 59 months (both inclusive), that is, up to the age of four years and 11 months, as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO), will receive the flu vaccine. This vaccine can be administered at the same time as other vaccines on the schedule.
– Subsequently, on 24 October, people aged between 60 and 64 years will be vaccinated against Covid. Source, Spanish: https://www.granadadigital.es/andalucia-comienza-lunes-vacunacion-gripe-cuarta-dosis-covid/

AXARQUIA

The irrigators of the Axarquia are left for the first time without water from La Viñuela due to its low level: {Translation}
– From this Saturday 1st October, with the start of the new hydrological year, the 6,306 hectares of the Guaro Plan, the area irrigable from the La Viñuela reservoir, because they are situated below 140 metres above sea level, will no longer have water available for irrigation from the Axarquia dam. The irrigators, who have concessions of up to 5,300 cubic metres per hectare per year, have seen this figure reduced to zero.
– In the last few days, the communities that still had water from the reservoir have been draining it, which has increased the rate at which the level is being lowered from 0.3 or 0.4 cubic hectometres per week in July and August, to around 0.57 in the last week of September. For the first time in history, the Junta de Andalucía has taken this dramatic decision to leave the Axarquia countryside without water in the face of the minimal reserves of the reservoir, which also supplies some 160,000 inhabitants in 14 municipalities.

NATO warns of the mobilization of a Russian submarine carrying nuclear torpedoes: {Translation}
– NATO has sent an intelligence note to its member states warning of the mobilisation of the Russian nuclear submarine ‘K-329 Belgorod’, which carries the Poseidon nuclear missile, also known as the Weapon of the Apocalypse, according to the Italian daily ‘La Repubblica’ on Sunday.
– The new submarine was launched in July and is now reportedly submerged in Arctic waters after its possible involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, according to several unofficial sources.
– NATO fears that its mission is now to test the Poseidon super torpedo, a projectile capable of travelling up to 10,000 kilometres underwater and then exploding near the coast to cause a radioactive tsunami.
– The nuclear torpedo was presented in 2018 by Russia as the way to ensure Russian military supremacy, although nuclear experts have argued that the same effect can be achieved with an intercontinental missile like those in operation since the 1960s.
– The US has activated a network of torpedo-tracking satellites that take advantage of the high heat given off by the projectiles when they are activated. But they are unable to detect them under the sea.
– The ‘Belgorod’ is 184 metres long and 15 metres wide and can travel at about 60 kilometres per hour underwater. It is estimated that it can go up to 120 days without having to return to the surface.
Among its arsenal is the Poseidon super torpedo, a 24-metre projectile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead of about two megatons. “It is a completely new type of weapon that will force Western navies to change their planning and develop new countermeasures,” said expert HI Sutton, according to ‘La Reppubblica’. Editorial from Spanish news website http://www.hispanidad.com
Citizen journalism reigns as 15% get their information from the media, 85% from social networks:
By Eulogio López 02/10/22 15:00 {Translation}
– The studies, or rather the counts, coincide. The latest, by Reuters, states that 15% of people get their information from the media and 85% from social networks.
– No, this does not say anything good about the press, but neither does it say anything good about those who claim that everything that is not traditional press is a hoax and that social networks are nothing more than manufacturers of ‘fake news’.
– No, the amateur writer in the networks does not have the same quality as the professional by far, but he or she is freer.
As you know, at Hispanidad we have always defended that lies have short legs, so fake news, and hoaxes too, have a short life. Evil always ends up destroying itself… and so do lies. There is no need for verifiers: the hoax does not survive for many days because it lacks internal coherence and dissolves like a sugar cube.
– Anyway, don’t be fooled: the main enemy of journalism today is not social media, it’s the Google search engine.
– Yes, there are hoaxes, but there is also truth in social networks. And the intelligent reader distinguishes one from the other.
– The fact checkers do not help, on the contrary, because they do not censor lies, what they censor are opinions and analyses that they do not like, saying that they are hoaxes.
– The hoax does not survive for many days because it lacks internal coherence and dissolves like a sugar cube.
– No, amateur writing in the networks does not have the same quality as professional writing by far, but it is freer.
– Don’t be fooled- the main enemy of journalism today is not the social networks, it’s the Google search engine. Do we realise what this means? It is the biggest crisis in journalism since its birth. There is only one newspaper, only one media in the world: Google. The grand master of the single thought. Source, Spanish:
