Cold front could bring rain to the south of Spain at end of this week: The Andalucía region will continue to enjoy stable weather until Friday this week, and the maximum temperatures will continue to hover around 30 degrees. But on Saturday the entry of a cold front is expected that will leave some rainfall in the provinces of Huelva, Seville, and mainly Cordoba, although the start of the big Seville Fair is expected to be marked without rain. High Speed Internet Comes To The Campo! – Hispasat to connect homes in rural Spain to satellite internet for €35/month, by end of 2023: There are currently more than 1.36 million homes in Spain with no, or poor quality, internet connections – the vast majority of them in rural areas. In a bid to improve that statistic Brussels has awarded Hispasat, the Spanish satellite operator, almost 75 million euros following an agreement with the government to offer internet at a speed of 100 megabits (Mbps) for 35 euros per month in the least populated areas of the country. The goal of the initiative is to have 100 per cent of Spain’s villages with quality internet coverage before the end of the year.

– Satillite connections are ok, are far better than nothing, but do have a drawback- latency. This is the time it takes for a signal to leave your computer, go thru your satellite router, and make it all the way up to the satellite, then from the satellite to the satellite receiver of your internet provider’s server. This is a significantly longer and more complex connection chain than on cable or wired internet connections.
– One result is poor performance in VOIP phone calls, video calls and conferencing. Video streaming and Youtube may struggle with HD quality content, above p480.
– There may be data limits on this service, nothing about that has been mentioned. For your €35 you may be offered a good connection, but with a daily or monthly data limit, maybe only enough for a few hours a day. Of course, you can pay to increase your data limit.
– Connection speeds are subject to high traffic slow-downs.
– Vulnerable to bad weather.
– Those who live on the side of a deep valley may find they can’t get “line-of-sight to the satellite”, so cannot connect at certain times.
– No VPNs. Typically you cannot use a virtual private network (VPN) over satellite internet.

– The safety problem is found in the models that incorporate airbags manufactured by Takata brand in specific years. As the OCU explained, the problem is that, over time, the airbag parts can deteriorate. This can cause excessive internal pressure if deployed, which could cause the body of the airbag to burst, allowing metal fragments to penetrate the cushion material and injure vehicle occupants.

The OCU warns of the sale of more illegal olive oils in Andalusia- these are the brands: {Translation, summary}
– This situation was discovered following complaints from consumers in Extremadura and a warning from the health authorities in Andalusia, who detected a network of irregular oil sales in both regions. Companies without health registration, and therefore without official control, have been packaging and selling olive oil in an irregular manner. The brands of olive oil seized, typically in 5 litre containers, have altered organoleptic characteristics, i.e. the taste, smell, colour and consistency do not correspond to those of virgin olive oil. Despite this, their ingestion is not considered to represent a health risk.
– However, initial analyses have revealed that at least one of the products, Cortijo del Oro, contains a mixture of lampante oil and other refined oils, making it unfit for human consumption. In total, eleven affected brands have been identified: Acebuche, Virgen del Guadiana, Cortijo del Oro, La Campiña de Andalucía, Galiaceite 2022, La Abadía, Villa de Jerez, Don Jaén Aceite 2019, Imperio Andaluz, La Esmeralda and Vareado.

Humans were already sewing their clothes nearly 40,000 years ago:
A carved bone found near Barcelona was used to sew animal skin tens of thousands of years ago, well before the arrival of the needle to Europe. “A careful analysis of the 28 holes [in the bone] reveal that they were made using the same technique, but with at least six different stone tools, suggesting that it was used over a fairly long period of time,” Doyon, an expert in bone archeology, affirms. “By puncturing thick leather samples, we were able to produce punctures with similar rounded characteristics.” After comparing the results, everything indicates that the distribution of the marks on the bone surface was aimed at producing a linear stitch.
