Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

MALAGA

Karting in Malaga- three circuits in the province for speed lovers:
{Translation}
– Karting Campillos. Karting Campillos {pic} is possibly the best known in the whole province, the most famous and one of the most prominent in southern Spain, mainly because it is approved by the FIA itself and also because it has a recently reconditioned track, resurfaced in 2021. In fact, the Campillos Karting has hosted the World Karting Championship and the town was also the capital of motor racing. All this points to the many positive things the place has to offer, as well as the multiple options to enjoy speed with your family, friends, family or work colleagues. They have different types of karts, such as one of 270 cubic centimetres (they can reach 85 kilometres per hour), another of 390 cubic centimetres (this one can reach 110 kms/h). The prices vary according to the engine and kart selected, but they range from 40 to 75 euros. Ctra A-384, Km 101 29320 Campillos, Malaga. https://kartingcampillos.com/en/
– KartFun, Malaga. This circuit is located very close to the Plaza Mayor shopping centre, halfway between Malaga and Torremolinos. Its layout stands out for the large number of curves and the short straight that requires a great control of the kart due to the continuous steering wheel turns and speed changes that must be made. To be able to do a Grand Prix exclusively with friends, at least 16 people are required, although there are smaller options, for 10, but there is no exclusivity. https://www.kartfun.es/
– Karting Experience, Fuengirola. The Karting Experience circuit, located on the terrace of the Miramar Shopping Centre, has two different circuits, one for adults and one for children. The adult circuit is almost 500 metres long and six metres wide, while the children’s circuit is 200 metres long, perfect for the little ones to get started in the world of karting. For a modest price of 35 euros, you can drive on this tarmac for about 20 minutes. It is by no means the biggest in the province, but for a first step it is exceptional. https://kartingexperience.com/

USA

The NYPD Can Now Shoot GPS Trackers At Your Car:
– Yesterday, the New York Police Department debuted its latest set of high-tech policing equipment. New York residents will soon come face to face with robot dogs, and now something new- a pneumatic gun that can fire a sticky GPS tracker at a moving vehicle.
– The launcher is called the Guardian-HX, made by a company called StarChase. It’s meant to create an alternative to the standard police pursuit, allowing cops to remotely track a fleeing vehicle without sending a squad of interceptors to tail it. But, in the hands of a department known for its surveillance abuses, the presence of any new tracking tech is worrying. The Guardian-HX launcher is based on, of all things, an AR-15 rifle. ENERGY CRISIS

Cepsa challenges Repsol and BP with new discounts on gasoline: {Translation}
– Repsol and BP launched their new loyalty programmes to continue with petrol discounts. And Cepsa is entering the fray. The oil company is launching a loyalty programme it has called ‘Cepsa GOW’ for its customers to receive balances both at Cepsa and on their everyday purchases to exchange for fuel, electric recharges, washes or products from the shop.
– For this promotion, the company offers a series of alliances with around 40 collaborating companies, including Amazon, eDreams, Europcar, Mediamarkt, Pangea and Sprinter, among others. Its customers can accumulate up to 10% of credit with their purchases and can achieve annual savings of more than 300 euros.
– Members of this loyalty programme will be able to obtain 6 cents per litre in Óptima fuel and 5 cents per litre in Star fuel, thus extending the discounts that the company established at the beginning of April for its loyal customers. They will also be able to obtain 2 cents for each kilowatt/hour in electric recharging and 5 cents for each euro consumed in products from the shop or in car wash services.
– Cepsa launches a new app. Likewise, through the Cepsa GOW app, users will be able to quickly view all the advantages offered by the GOW club, as well as their balance and movements. They will even be able to pay for refuelling or recharging their vehicle from their mobile phone, without having to go to the cash desk.
– Members of the ‘Porque TU vuelves’ (Because YOU come back) programme enjoy all the Cepsa Gow advantages and their accumulated discount points will be transformed into an equivalent balance in euros. Cepsa service stations receive more than 12 million users every year and the company has more than two million loyal customers. GASTRONOMIA

The best ground coffee available locally, according to the OCU, is a store-brand (and at half the price of the top brands): {Translation, summary}
– The option of ground coffee is one of the most popular, so the Organisation of Consumers and Users (OCU) has carried out an analysis of the different ground coffees that can be found in supermarkets. And it has brought some surprises.
– According to a total of 25 samples of ground coffees analysed by the OCU trying to find out which is the best quality and which has the best price, as well as other important data, such as the amount of caffeine contained in each of them, the result is that three “store” brands have formed the podium. For the Organisation of Consumers and Users, out of the 25 coffees analysed, these three are considered to be ‘Master Buys’, i.e. a perfect combination of quality and price.
– The first is Auchan’s ground coffee blend (Alcampo, see pic), with 77 points and a price of 5.80 euros/kg, followed by Carrefour’s natural ground coffee, with 76 points and a price of 5.44 euros/kg. Markus ground coffee blend (Aldi), with 74 points and a price of EUR 5.96/kg, completes the podium.
– Although at a significantly higher price, the coffees of these three brands also have excellent scores: Lavazza’s classic taste cream ground coffee, with 81 points and priced at 12.48 euros/kg, Fortaleza’s blended ground coffee, with 79 points and priced at 12.38 euros/kg, and Cafés Candelas’ natural roast ground coffee, with 78 points and priced at 12.40 euros/kg. Charge Your Mobile With Twigs- BioLite CampStove 2:
– Yes, it can function great as a stove for boiling water, or for heating food, but the BioLite CampStove really shines when it comes to generating power. You now have the ability to create power out of nothing more than some small pieces of wood you can find pretty much anywhere in the world. As a prepper, the BioLite CampStove gives you another means for keeping your small electronics going.
– The BioLite Camp Stove 2’s integrated 2600 mAh battery charges devices with or without a live fire. BioLite’s patented core technology captures waste heat from the fire through a heat probe attached to the orange powerpack. This heat is converted into electricity via a thermoelectric generator. This powers a fan and sends electricity to a USB charging port. Excess power is stored in the internal battery. The internal fan injects air back into the burn chamber, dramatically improving combustion and creating a cleaner, more efficient burn. It also has a handy LED lamp on a bendable arm for those dark nights.
– The CampStove will produce a charge rate as high as 5v of electricity. We were able to fully charge an iPhone 7 in a little over an hour. The output is enough to charge any phone or tablet, along with radio gear or battery power banks. All you have to do is keep feeding it sticks and twigs, and you will have an almost endless source of power.
– The BioLite optional accessories really make the stove a great add-on to your bug out location. With the portable grill and kettle pot, you have most of the amenities of a full size kitchen. The LED light also comes in handy when you are cooking in the dark.

FROM THE WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING DEPARTMENT

A new report from the United Nations has called for all forms of drug use and sexual activity (including between adults and ‘consenting minors’) to be decriminalized globally:
– Written by the International Committee of Jurists (ICJ), UNAIDS and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the report was released on International Women’s Day, with the goal of guiding “the application of international human rights law to criminal law.” Called the “8 March principles,” the report calls for offenses related to “sex, drug use, HIV, sexual and reproductive health, homelessness and poverty” to be decriminalized.
– While on the surface it may seem relatively uncontroversial, the report seemingly calls for sex between adults and ‘consenting’ minors to be decriminalized, see screenshot of document below.
-Read the UN press release here, where they try to make this sound like a good thing: https://www.unaids.org/en/resources/presscentre/featurestories/2023/march/20230308_new-legal-principles-decriminalization

NATURE

Russian walrus and polar bears continue to thrive US researchers tell the Washington Post, contradicting BBC’s Frozen Planet II series misinformation, say less ice produces more food for the entire arctic food chain:
– Interviews with US researchers for a piece in the Washington Post earlier today contain revelations that walrus and polar bear populations in the Russian Far East continue to thrive, despite insisting that polar bears face a dire future without human interference.
– Field studies found Chukchi Sea bears have been in excellent condition and reproducing well, and are not spending more time on land during the summer than they did during the 1980s. Reports in early 2022 that polar bears have been moving from Alaska to Russia in a ‘mass exodus’ may describe a real phenomenon that reflects the excellent feeding conditions for bears in the Chukchi Sea compared to Alaska, fuelled by continued increases in primary productivity made possible by less summer sea ice.
– The conundrum of polar bears and seals thriving in the Chukchi Sea despite there appearing to be less summer sea ice is explained by the fact that primary productivity has increased since sea ice declined after 2002. Studies have shown that more sunlight reaching open water for longer periods in recent years has meant more food for the entire Arctic food chain and that these effects have been strongest in the Chukchi and Barents Seas (Crockford 2023; Frey et al. 2022). More food for fish and seals has meant more food for polar bears in the spring and fatter bears mean more healthy cubs.
– In other words, any suggestion from the BBC in the Frozen Planet II series that Wrangel Island polar bear mothers and cubs might be struggling to survive due to lack of sea ice is not supported by scientific data.
