Covid Malaga: This Thursday, 16 September, the Junta de Andalucía has notified a rate of 89 coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Malaga province in the last 14 days – some 3.4 fewer than the day before. The price of electricity in Spain continues to spiral, jumping another 9% in a day: The cost of electricity in the wholesale market in Spain breaks another record this Thursday (16 September) as it skyrockets to an average of 188.18 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), representing a 9 per cent rise in just 24 hours.

Minimum wage in Spain to increase by 15 euros a month: The Spanish government has reached an agreement with the unions to raise the minimum wage by 15 euros per month, to stand at 965 euros, SUR has learned.

Wednesday night’s spectacular fireball seen across south Spain: On 15 September 2021, at 22:25 local time (equivalent to 20:25 universal time), a rock (a meteoroid) from an asteroid impacted the atmosphere at about 76.000 km/h over the south of Spain. The high temperature reached during its atmospheric entry gave rise to a fireball that began at a height of around 91 km over the province of Badajoz. The fireball moved northwest and ended at a height of about 22 km above the same province. The preliminary analysis of this event shows that the rock was not fully destroyed: a small part of the object could survive and reach the ground as a meteorite.
The event was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN), from the meteor-observing stations located at the astronomical observatories of Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra, La Hita, and Sevilla. High Court agrees to intervene if necessary to serve papers on the Duke of York in the sexual assault civil case: Initially, the high court rejected the request, but after further information was provided, agreed to it.

UK Police Crackdown Continues, Shuts Down Pirate IPTV Network With “Hundreds of Thousands” of Customers: West Midlands Police targeted what is being described as a “top UK content provider” that facilitated access to more than 100 separate pirate TV services. The operation was months in the planning and resulted in the arrest of three people.
Police say they were able to dismantle the illegal streaming network which they believe served hundreds of thousands of customers.
