Seville doctors announce strikes in November and “imminent chaos” in the private sector: {Translation}
– They demand that insurance companies negotiate a substantial improvement in their fees, which currently do not exceed 8 or 10 euros per consultation for each specialist. (At 4 consults an hour, 7 hours a day, at €10 per consult, equals €280 per day. That is approximately €5,600 per month, or €67,200 annually. In the second poorest autonomous community in Spain, that sounds fair to me for a 35hr work week, certainly no reason to claim “imminent chaos”. -Ed.)
– The Seville Medical Union and the SDC announced at the recent congress of private medicine, that doctors with free practice will go on strike in November.
– Both organisations, which represent more than 12,000 doctors in the province of Seville, insist on the “imminent collapse” of the sector and call on insurance companies to sit down “immediately” this October to negotiate improvements.
– The doctors are demanding immediate action from the insurance companies, such as the updating of the scales according to the CPI, which has been frozen for doctors in private practice since 1990, and that there should be representation of the doctors when negotiating the scales.
– During these three decades – they insist – “the CPI has increased by 145.6% without this increase being applied to the scales that the companies establish without consensus with the doctors”. ‘Occupiers trying to escape’ – Russians under pressure in southern Ukraine: A Kremlin-installed official in Ukraine’s southern region of Kherson urged residents to remain calm Tuesday as reports surfaced that Kyiv’s forces were making sweeping gains into Russian-controlled territory. Kherson was one of the first regions where Kyiv’s defences collapsed in February after Russia invaded but Ukrainian forces have recently accelerated a months-long offensive to recapture it. Maps published by Russia’s defence ministry showed Tuesday its forces had suffered serious territorial losses in the Kherson region. The reported gains into Kherson are a threat to the Kremlin’s claim to have last week formally annexed the agriculturally rich region with a pre-war population of around one million. Floridians would have faced nightmare scenario if electric vehicles were the norm:
– An analysis by Thomas Lifton of americanthinker.com imagined what an evacuation in Florida ahead of the deadly, devastating Hurricane Ian would have looked like if most residents were driving electric vehicles is enough to horrify any rational person.
– Had most residents been saddled with electric vehicles that are using current technologies and infrastructure, as bad as the hurricane was, the disaster would have been even greater. Simply put, vast numbers of residents who would have tried to escape the storm would have likely been stranded on highways, out of power for their vehicles, and out of hope.
– It is fortunate that as of the current moment, electric vehicles constitute only about 100,000, out of nearly 8 million vehicles registered to drive on Florida’s roads. What if they all were electric, the (impractical) dream of greenies, Lifton wrote.
– Depending on how heavily loaded they were, even assuming everyone had a full battery charge, cars from southern Florida would start running out of juice after 100 – 250 miles. They would then have to spend hours at recharging stations, which would rapidly be clogged with other cars and trucks waiting their turn, since an electricity “fill up” can easily take an hour or more, as compared to a couple of minutes for gasoline. Cars waiting to be charged would spill onto the highways, potentially blocking traffic.
– Those cars that ran out of juice on the highway would block traffic. Even assuming that emergency service vehicles could get to them (unlikely if the entire fleet were electric cars), towing a portable generator (powered by fossil fuels, of course) and recharging the stalled vehicles would take plenty of time, as well, further blocking traffic. The stranded cars would, of course, have no air conditioning, no wipers, no GPS, wrote Lifton. Musk reverses course, again- he’s ready to buy Twitter, build ‘X’ app: Billionaire Elon Musk is proposing to proceed with his original $44 billion bid to take Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) private, security filings showed on Tuesday, calling for an end to a lawsuit by the social media company that could have forced him to pay up, whether he wanted to or not.
– An agreement would put the world’s richest person in charge of one of the most influential media platforms and end months of litigation that damaged Twitter’s brand and fed Musk’s reputation for erratic behavior.
– Late on Tuesday he tweeted that buying Twitter would speed up his ambition to create an “everything app” called X.
