Algarrobo Spring Festival- Saturday 25/3, a day full of music:
The event will take place in La Escalerilla Park starting at 6:00 p.m. with performances by Longplay, Por Derecho, Noche Andaluza and DJ Marcos González.
The Algarrobo City Council has enabled a free bus service from the coast to the town so that visitors can enjoy the festival without taking the car. The bus will leave from the usual stops of Mezquitilla, Algarrobo Costa and Trayamar at 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. For the return, the scheduled times of this service are at 7:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m.

Nerja Pool Closed Due To Fire: The Department of Sports informs that all activities at the swimming pool and the indoor pavilion of the Ciudad Deportiva have been suspended as a result of the fire that broke out this morning in the sauna and spa area of the sports facilities. “Fortunately the fire has been quickly controlled and we do not have to regret any personal damage or more material damage than that caused in the spa area”, the councilor assessed, thanking the speed and good work that the Firefighters have done, Civil Guard and Local Police who have participated in extinguishing the fire. Rivas has indicated that “once the review of the pool facilities and the covered pavilion is completed, we will resume activities” and has apologized for any inconvenience this incident may have caused.

World Athletics bans transgender women from competing in female world ranking events:
– World Athletics (track & field sports regulator) has banned transgender women from competing in the female category at international events. The governing body’s president, Lord Coe, said no transgender athlete who had gone through male puberty would be permitted to compete in female world ranking competitions from 31 March. A working group will be set up to conduct further research into the transgender eligibility guidelines.
– Lord Coe added the decision was “guided by the overarching principle which is to protect the female category”. He noted that there are currently no transgender athletes competing internationally in the sport. “Decisions are always difficult when they involve conflicting needs and rights between different groups, but we continue to take the view that we must maintain fairness for female athletes above all other considerations,” said Lord Coe.
– The World Athletics Council also voted to reduce the amount of blood testosterone permitted for athletes with such as South Africa’s Caster Semenya. DSD is a group of rare conditions whereby a person’s hormones, genes and/or reproductive organs may be a mix of male and female characteristics. Some of those affected prefer the term “intersex”. The images — and scores of variations littering social media — were produced using increasingly sophisticated and widely accessible image generators powered by artificial intelligence. Misinformation experts warn the images are harbingers of a new reality: waves of fake photos and videos flooding social media after major news events and further muddying fact and fiction at crucial times for society. “It does add noise during crisis events. It also increases the cynicism level,” said Jevin West, a professor at the University of Washington in Seattle who focuses on the spread of misinformation. “You start to lose trust in the system and the information that you are getting.”

Another Fake ChatGPT Chrome Browser Extension Caught Hijacking Facebook Accounts:
– Google has stepped in to remove a bogus Chrome browser extension from the official Web Store that masqueraded as OpenAI’s ChatGPT service to harvest Facebook session cookies and hijack the accounts. Installing the extension adds the promised functionality – i.e., enhancing search engines with ChatGPT – but it also stealthily activates the ability to capture Facebook-related cookies and exfiltrate it to a remote server in an encrypted manner. Once in possession of the victim’s cookies, the threat actor moves to seize control of the Facebook account, change the password, alter the profile name and picture, and even use it to disseminate extremist propaganda.
– The development makes it the second fake ChatGPT Chrome browser extension to be discovered in the wild. The other extension, which also functioned as a Facebook account stealer, was distributed via sponsored posts on the social media platform.

St George’s Church Málaga: We are part of the Church of England in Spain covering the area from Torremolinos in the west to the outskirts of Nerja in the east and to the northern edge of Malaga province. 
We have three worship centres, in Velez-Málaga, Málaga city and Salinas. Everyone is welcome to our Sunday services in English, and you can also contact us to enquire about baptisms, marriage blessings, funerals, and house blessings. 
Father Louis, our Chaplain, is available for counsel and support, regardless of anyone’s beliefs or background. We aspire to be a welcoming and inclusive community, open to all people seeking faith and friendship. 
If you can’t get to church, we live-stream our Sunday services on Facebook, and also gather on Zoom for an informal service on Wednesday mornings.
