If you rely on your computer and want it running at peak performance, free of data collectors and trackers, an annual professional servicing is necessary. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware/tracker removal protocol, clean out junk files/logs/history/etc., update Windows + all drivers + programs, and finally optimize your settings and registry for fastest overall performance.
Heavily infected comps, computers taking more than 2 minutes to startup or shutdown, or showing error messages, those need a repair, not a maintenance service. HDD hard disks of 1000Gb or more add €10.

SPAIN
Diesel leads the CPI rise to 3.3% in Andalusia in July: {Trans, summary}
– As of 13 August 2026, Andalusia’s annual Consumer Price Index rose to 3.3% in July, which is five-tenths of a percentage point above the June rate of 2.8%. In monthly terms, inflation increased by 0.2%, while the cumulative rise for the year so far stands at 2.3%. The largest annual price increases were in transport at 6.3%, restaurants and accommodation services at 5.0%, and housing including electricity, gas and other fuels at 4.8%. By contrast, food and non-alcoholic beverages rose only 0.8%. Among provinces, Malaga recorded the highest inflation at 3.6%, followed by Granada at 3.5%, while Jaen had the lowest at 2.7%.
– Nationally, Spanish CPI reached 3.6%, its highest level since May 2024, driven mainly by energy costs. Diesel prices rose 15.7% annually, triggering a safeguard clause that increases tax relief to 20 euro cents per litre from September. Underlying inflation, excluding energy and unprocessed food, stood at 3.0%.
-The July CPI figures confirm that the diesel fuel subcategory registered a year-on-year variation of 15.7% in July, exceeding the 15% threshold stipulated in Royal Decree-Law 18/2026 on measures to contain the impact of the war in Iran. Upon exceeding this threshold, the safeguard clause of the Response Plan is automatically activated, according to sources at the Ministry of Economy: the reduction in the Hydrocarbons Tax applicable to diesel will increase to 20 cents per liter in September, compared to the 5 cents initially planned for that month.

Why are all the Gov’t Ministers still in hiding 2 weeks after Ceuta crisis– Robles warns Rollán that she will not appear next week in the Senate because she does not have “time” to prepare!: {Trans, summary}
– The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles {pic}, sent a letter this Thursday to the president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán, in which she informed him that she will finally not go to the Senate Defense Commission next week to talk about the migration crisis in Ceuta, as the PP had requested, alleging that she would not have “enough” time to prepare for the appearance. The minister insists on refusing to appear next week in order to “be able to be precise and exhaustive” in her intervention and have “enough” time to prepare it.
– This Wednesday the appearance of the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, was also scheduled to explain the Ceuta situation, although in the end he did not attend and the PP decided to maintain the Interior commission with the empty chair of the appearing party. On this occasion, the PP warned Marlaska of “legal and political” consequences for not attending the extraordinary session of the Interior commission to talk about Ceuta.

Morocco is reinforcing the border– riot police and new razor wire amid fears of another assault: {Trans, summary}
– Morocco has reinforced security around the border with Ceuta in anticipation of a possible mass entry attempt on August 15, following a call to action circulated on social media. Moroccan authorities have deployed personnel from various agencies and have begun installing new barriers and razor wire at some of the most vulnerable points. The increased security measures particularly affect areas near the Tarajal breakwater, one of the points used during the mass entry at the end of July. On that occasion, thousands of people attempted to reach Ceuta by various means, including by sea. To prevent a similar situation from recurring, Morocco has begun installing new barbed wire and concertina wire at certain points along its coastline. Some of these structures extend several meters into the sea, according to images circulating from the area.
– Concertina wire, made up of rolls of wire with sharp edges, has been used previously on Morocco’s land borders with Ceuta and Melilla . In Spain, it was removed from border fences in 2007 due to the risk of injury.
– The operation also extends to the roads and highways leading to Ceuta. According to information released by Moroccan media, personnel from the National Security Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Auxiliary Forces are participating in the operation. Authorities have also established checkpoints on some of the routes leading to the autonomous city.
– One of the prime areas under surveillance is the forests between Ceuta and Fnideq (Castillejos), where people often congregate, waiting for an opportunity to attempt to cross into Spanish territory. Moroccan forces are conducting raids in this area and, according to the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior, arrests have already been made of undocumented migrants, mainly from sub-Saharan Africa. UKRAINE WAR
Russia attacks Ukrainian port on Danube, disrupts wheat exports: {Summary}
– Russia struck Ukraine’s Izmail grain port on the Danube on Thursday, damaging infrastructure and causing a fire, threatening grain exports to Europe amid a naval blockade that has cut Black Sea shipments by 76 per cent in August. Ukraine, supplying 6 per cent of global wheat and 11 per cent of corn, faces export difficulties that raise fears of shortages in importing nations.
– These disruptions directly affect the EU economy, as member states rely on Ukrainian grain for animal feed, food processing, and stabilising internal market prices. Reduced supply pushes up commodity costs within the EU, raising prices for bread, pasta, and livestock production. This feeds into broader inflationary pressures, hurting consumer spending and industrial competitiveness. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/russian-attack…

Iran, US make competing claims over control of Strait of Hormuz:
– The Strait of Hormuz is “under Iran’s control and management”, the recently appointed head of Iran’s Basij paramilitary unit said on Thursday, a day after U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States had “total control” of the strategic waterway.

TRAVEL
Border controls on travellers from Italy have already affected more than 3,000 people: {Trans, summary}
– The number of travelers from Italy who have been identified at Spanish airports since Saturday, August 8, now exceeds 3,000 people, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of the Interior. Specifically, until two in the afternoon this Thursday the number of people from whom documentation was requested upon arrival in Spain was 3,115, in Malaga there have been 13 from three different flights. In total, 273 flights have been controlled and 446 agents have participated in this task.
– The temporary reestablishment of border controls at those airports and ports that maintain direct connections between the Kingdom of Spain and the Italian Republic came into force on Saturday, August 8. The Government has ordered these controls until September 7, waiting for Italy to withdraw the suspension of the Schengen area for Spain that it adopted after the migration crisis that took place in Ceuta on July 30. Three new cases were reported just today, all in Seville province– two in Aznalcázar and one in Almensilla. While the new cases are mild, one does involve neuroinvasive disease. Of the 34 total confirmed cases to date, 24 are mild and ten are neuroinvasive. One death has been recorded, one person has fully recovered, and the other 32 are showing favorable progress.
– All cases remain concentrated in Seville province, with Villamanrique de la Condesa hardest hit (seven cases). SPACE
Astronomers discover a brand-new type of astrophysical object– A black hole star:
– Astronomers at MIT and elsewhere have spotted an extremely bright red spot in the early universe. The object resembles an enormous star, spanning the size of our solar system. But it also is putting out 100 billion times more energy than any known star can physically produce. In fact, such energies are closer to what a black hole might generate.
– The curious combination suggests that the red spot is an entirely new type of astrophysical source. The astronomers are calling it a “black hole star.”
– In a paper appearing today in the journal Nature, the team presents their analysis of the new object, which they discovered using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The telescope spotted the bright red dot in the very early universe, just a few hundred million years after the Big Bang.
– The scientists conclude that the most likely explanation for the strange red dot is that it is a mashup of a black hole and a star — a combination that has never been observed until now. The object is likely a hugely dense cloud of gas, powered not by standard nuclear fusion, but by a central black hole.
– If the bright red dot is indeed a black hole star, it would help to solve the identity of other mysterious “little red dots” that have appeared in nearly every deep space image JWST has taken to date. “These little red dots seem to be everywhere in the early universe but essentially disappear by the present day,” Naidu says. “What exactly these objects are has been one of the most debated topics of the JWST era.” Full, much longer article: https://news.mit.edu/2026/astronomers-discover-brand-new-type-astrophysical-object-black-hole-star-0812
