Spanish mobile phone alert test proves successful but Apple users need to take action: The government has successfully tested the emergency alert service, although some issues have arisen with only seven out of ten alerts being activated. Repsol will help with up to 150 euros in AutoGas to those who convert their car from gasoline to LPG: {Translation}
– Repsol will offer up to 150 euros in AutoGas to drivers who convert their gasoline vehicle and label C to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a campaign that will run until February 24, 2023 and will apply in the provinces of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Seville and Alicante.
– This Repsol incentive campaign, which can benefit both individuals and professionals, is developed in collaboration with mechanical workshops Ircongas, Gasmoción and Gaspointcenter, as well as the Association of Vehicle Transformers (Astrave).
– To qualify for this aid, the user must contact any of the aforementioned workshops in the cities included in the campaign and have the necessary kit installed.
– “The Repsol AutoGas fuel subsidy can be redeemed between 1 January 2023 and 1 April 2024 through Waylet, the multi-energy company’s mobile application.
– Once the vehicles have been converted (as long as they have a C label), users will be entitled to the ECO sticker issued by the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT), which authorises them to drive in low-emission zones (ZBE), among other things.

Medusa monitors, dreaded by some motorists, are now being tested in Spain:
– The devices have five microphones and a 360 degree camera, and drivers could face fines of up to 600 euros for breaking the law if the system is adopted. Medusa devices identify vehicles whose exhaust pipes exceed the permitted noise level.

How Spain’s new tax on plastics will affect you?:
– The Waste and Contaminated Soils Law is being brought in to try and decrease the use of single-use plastics, and to reduce the waste produced in landfills by 15 percent compared to 2010 levels.
– The Spanish government hopes to cut the use of food containers and single-use plastic cups by up to 70 percent by 2030.
– Companies that use non-reusable plastic will also be required by law to pay an extra tax of 44 cents per kilogram, and landfill and incineration centres will be hit with a new tax that could range from €1.50 to €40 per metric tonne. As you might have already guessed, this will have a direct impact on shoppers as the costs are likely to be passed on to consumers and prices will rise.
– The collection of domestic bio-waste for towns with more than 5,000 inhabitants will also be expanded, as well as textile waste, used cooking oils, hazardous household waste and bulky waste from 2025. Bans on the destruction of unsold surpluses of textile products, toys and electrical appliances, and the intentional release of balloons will also be phased in. – Salobreña town hall is making progress with its plan to pedestrianise the old town and has created a one-way system to avoid traffic jams. Bank of England expects UK to fall into longest ever recession:
– The Bank of England has warned the UK is facing its longest recession since records began, as it raised interest rates by the most in 33 years. It warned the UK would face a “very challenging” two-year slump with unemployment nearly doubling by 2025. The unemployment rate is currently at its lowest for 50 years, but it is expected to rise to nearly 6.5%
– Bank boss Andrew Bailey warned of a “tough road ahead” for UK households, but said it had to act forcefully now or things “will be worse later on”.

– The Bank of England on Thursday increased Britain’s interest rate by 0.75 percentage point, its biggest jump in 33 years, to 3%, while issuing warnings of challenging economic times ahead.
