DoctorLaptop’s Computer Repairs & Services: Have your computer properly maintained with an annual professional servicing to keep it clean, running cool and thus extend its life. You don’t wait till your car engine freezes before you change your oil, now do you? If you do, the repair costs far more than the oil changes you skipped. It’s the same with computers. An inexpensive annual maintenance service is far cheaper than waiting until the device is annoyingly slow and popping up error messages, and thus in need of an expensive repair. Protect your computer & your privacy with annual servicing. The Doctor is closed on weekends. Always include the patient’s make and model number when making support requests. DoctorLaptop’s Website & Contact Info: doctorlaptop@protonmail.com or call 675 993 069 after 12pm, missed calls returned asap. My contact details are shown every day in the Sponsor’s Section.

Andalucia Covid & Monkeypox Update: {Translation} 15/11/2022, 13:44
– Andalucia has registered 1,632 cases of coronavirus in the last week and 33 people have died, so the trend is similar to that of last week, according to the Regional Ministry of Health.
– Last week there were 1,664 cases of covid and 34 people died, while a fortnight ago there were 1,867 cases and 29 people died.
– Andalucian hospitals are currently admitting 233 patients – twenty more than last Wednesday – of whom 17 are in the ICU – one more.
– The cumulative incidence over fourteen days in the community is 76.53 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants, when a week ago it was 85.82.
– Vaccines administered up to Tuesday amounted to 19,734,409 doses, with 7,631,526 people having received at least one dose, while 971,484 booster doses have been administered this autumn.
– As for monkeypox, there are seven active cases in Andalucia (one in Almeria, none in Cadiz, none in Jaen, none in Granada, two in Malaga and four in Seville).

SPAIN
Transport Strike Suspended Amid Claims Of Threats & Intimidation:
{Translation. summary}
– The protesters, who managed to blockade Spain in March, claim that thousands of lorry drivers have received threats from shippers to stop them from supporting the demonstrations.
– The striking transport association explained the decision to withdraw the strike by revealing “the relentless campaign of harassment and demolition by shippers, associations of the national transport committee, government unions, some media and a specific political party to try to discredit the movements of the association”.
– They claim that because of this pressure, thousands of lorry drivers have been threatened by the loading companies to not support the strike under fear of blacklisting. “The situation of drivers depending on shippers for work, yet with no process available to denounce the shippers non-compliance in terms of pledges made during the previous strike, have served as a legal weapon for the shippers to claim for themselves an obligation that their hauliers have to give them service”, say the association. It had called the strike as a result of an alleged breach by the shippers of the law that prohibits paying drivers below cost. The shopping basket is 15.4% more expensive than a year ago, the highest rate increase on record, despite inflation dropping to 7.3% in October:
– Prices moderated in the month of October and there have been three slowdowns. The CPI rate was 7.3% year-on-year, as confirmed by the INE on Tuesday, which represents a reduction of one and a half points compared to the previous month, when it had also fallen by that proportion. From the peak that it reached in July at 10.8%, they are more than three percentage points less in two months.
– And this despite the fact that food is skyrocketing, 15.4% more expensive than a year ago, the rate rose one point from September to reach the highest point since the beginning of the historical series in January 1994. Above all the increase in the cost of sugar (42.8%), legumes and vegetables (25.7%), chicken (18.3%), milk (25%), eggs (25.5%) and oil stands out (24%). VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA
Thirty National and Local Police officers block group from entering the Vélez-Málaga town hall where a council meeting was in progress: The parents of the more than 550 pupils of the José Luis Villar Palasí primary school in Vélez-Málaga, known as ‘Zona Norte’, gathered outside the town hall on Monday 14 November in protest against last week’s decision by the Junta de Andalucía to close the school, after a series of cracks that have been present in the buildings for almost four decades had worsened. More than 200 people gathered to demand “a solution” to the decision to relocate the children to three other schools in the town, arguing that it would disrupt family and work routines. They also demanded a solution to the building. Photo: E. Cabezas. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/axarquia/school-protest-20221115115323-nt.html

BREAKING NEWS- Missile Attack In Poland- Biden says ‘unlikely’ missile that hit Poland fired from Russia: 16/11/22, 03:30
– President Joe Biden said Wednesday it was “unlikely” that a missile that killed two in NATO-ally Poland was fired from Russia, but he pledged support for Poland’s investigation into what it had called a “Russian-made” missile.
– Biden spoke after he convened an “emergency” meeting of the Group of Seven and NATO leaders in Indonesia Wednesday morning for consultations on the attack that killed two people in the eastern part of Poland near the Ukraine border.
– “There is preliminary information that contests that,” Biden told reporters when asked if the missile had been fired from Russia. “It is unlikely in the lines of the trajectory that it was fired from Russia, but we’ll see.”
– It was not immediately clear whether Biden was suggesting that the missile hadn’t been fired by Russia at all. Ukraine still maintains stocks of former Soviet and Russian-made weaponry, including the S-300 air-defense missile system. Russian airstrikes reported in cities across Ukraine:
– Waves of Russian airstrikes rocked Ukraine on Tuesday, with authorities immediately announcing emergency blackouts after attacks from east to west on energy and other facilities knocked out power and, in the capital, struck residential buildings.
– A senior Ukrainian official, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, described the situation as “critical” and urged Ukrainians to cut back on their power usage and “hang in there.” Power provider DTEK announced emergency blackouts in the capital and authorities announced similar steps elsewhere, too.
– At least 10 regions and cities reported that they were targeted. The assault followed what have been days of euphoria in Ukraine after one of its biggest military successes in the nearly nine-month Russian invasion – the retaking last week of the southern city of Kherson. TRAVEL NEWS
Revolt of Imserso retirees fed up with eating meatballs and macaroni in a hotel in Roquetas: {Translation}
– Half a hundred travellers from the Imserso have stood up in a hotel in Roquetas de Mar in Almeria fed up with eating meatballs and macaroni almost every day. “I went on a trip for pensioners and the food could not be more bad and repetitive”, criticises one of the users.
– Pensioners complain about the menus at the buffet in the hotel El Palmeral, in La Urbanización, a very touristy area of the municipality of Roquet. Raw food, little quantity and poor quality during their stay. A situation that has provoked complaints en masse to the hotel management, to the Consumer Affairs Department of the Junta de Andalucía and even called the local police.
– “The hotel is very nice, the workers are very nice but the menu is awful. We always had to eat outside”, complained another traveller. In the same vein, another user reports that they eat fried, badly cooked and half raw food on a daily basis. In October there were also criticisms about the establishment’s food, which led to diarrhoea and vomiting in many of the guests, according to them.
– In addition, the complaints focus on the absence of fruit, and if there is any, it is in very bad condition. In some of the images published, mould can be seen on pears or oranges, already in a state of putrefaction. “The hake they offer looks like chopped sardines.
– The milk is just water and for breakfast there are endless queues, the best thing to do is to go to the nearest cafeteria. In short, a real disgrace”, states another complaint at the same hotel dated 9 November.
– The establishment regrets that the food did not live up to travellers’ expectations. “We tried to offer a varied and quality gastronomic proposal in order to satisfy the majority of guests”, they explain. However, the increase in prices as a result of the CPI has lowered quality standards.
– Only eight hotels in the province are available for Imserso trips. Seven of them are located in Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce (Alua Golf Trinidad, Bahía Serena, Best Roquetas, Best Sabinal, El Palmeral, Ele Andarax and Portomagno), and only one in Mojácar (Best Mojácar).
– The Social Tourism Programme of the Imserso (Institute for the Elderly and Social Services) for this season offered stays of 9 nights and 10 days for 269.83 euros, and 7 nights and 8 days for 212.96 euros in Almeria. These minimum prices barely cover the costs of hotel services and also include transport. Photo: ABC. Tennis News- Nadal eliminated from ATP Finals, Alcaraz to finish year at No. 1:
– Rafa Nadal was eliminated from the ATP Finals as Casper Ruud beat American Taylor Fritz 6-3 4-6 7-6(6) in their round-robin match in Turin on Tuesday, which also guaranteed that teenager Carlos Alcaraz would end the year as world number one. Spaniard Nadal needed to win the tournament to take the rankings top spot from compatriot Alcaraz, but straight-set losses to Fritz on Sunday and Felix Auger-Aliassime earlier on Tuesday left him needing Ruud to lose in straight sets to keep his hopes alive. Windows 8.1 Goes Obsolete Jan 10th, 2023:
– Microsoft says Windows 11 and a new PC is the way ahead for the soon-dead Windows 8.1 users. Microsoft has once again reminded users about the impending end of support for Windows 8.1 which happens early next year on January 10th.
– As of January 10, 2023, computers running Windows 8.1 will still function, but Microsoft will no longer provide the following:
*Technical support of any issue
*Software updates
*Security updates or fixes
– While you could continue to use a PC running Windows 8.1, without new software and security updates, your PC will be at greater risk for viruses and malware (And, DoctorLaptop will no longer service these once they are obsolete, unless you want them upgraded to Windows 10). We recommend upgrading to a version of Windows that is still supported (Win 10 or 11).
