ANDALUCIA
These are all the bonuses available to large families in Andalusia: {Translation} 14/11/2022. 14:49h.
– Large families, who have a significant amount of expenses associated with raising children, have a number of rights and benefits aimed at facilitating this work. This group will increase in 2023, as single-parent families with two dependent children will be considered large families under the new Families Act agreed by the Spanish Government.
– To accredit the status of large family there is an individual card, which is issued to all members of the family unit who are beneficiaries and are over 14 years of age. It can also be obtained by minors under this age who request it. This document is valid throughout the national territory, accompanied by the DNI, NIE or other document that identifies the holder. However, it must be recognised, processed and renewed at the administration of the Autonomous Community.
***Public sector subsidies***
– The Junta de Andalucía lists the different areas of public administration in which large families can obtain exemptions or price reductions in the autonomous community. They are the following:
– Nursery schools and canteens. The services of socio-educational attention will have benefits for those families with three or more schooled minors enjoying these services. In the case of families with three children, the third child will receive a 30% discount on the corresponding amount. Those with more than three children, the fourth and subsequent children will not have to pay anything.
– University fees. A student who starts studying at a public university will pay only half the registration fee if he/she belongs to a large family in the general category, and will be exempt from any payment if he/she belongs to a large family in the special category.
– Fees for registration or examination in competitive examinations and other selective tests for access to public employment. Members of large families in the special category are exempt from payment, while members of large families in the general category are eligible for a 50% discount.
– Subsidised housing. In VPOs, large families with an income of less than 2.5 IPREM have a reduction in the quota of 50 euros for every 10,000 euros of loan.
– Tax deductions, for example, when filing income tax returns.
– Electricity social voucher. This category of families has a 25% reduction on total electricity consumption.
– Consortium buses. The large family card entitles large families to a 50% discount on the price of travel on Andalusian public transport in the case of large families under the special scheme, and 20% for those under the general scheme. This entitlement is applied through discounts on top-ups made by holders of these personal and non-transferable cards.
– Access to museums and cultural centres. The discount for admission to these types of venues is 50 % for large families.
***Discounts in the private sector***
– There are also different companies and shops that, from the private sector, also offer discounts and promotions for large families who buy on their platforms. Among them are some of the most important ones, such as the following:
– Carrefour. The French multinational company has the “Superfamilias” card, which allows large families to deduct VAT on all fresh products from butchers, delicatessen, fishmongers, greengrocers, bakers, cooked dishes, cheeses, eggs and pastries directly on their receipt. In addition, they will have access to all the advantages of Club Carrefour. To obtain the card, the official large family card must be shown in any of the company’s establishments.
– El Corte Inglés, Hipercor and Supercor. This Spanish chain of shopping centres and supermarkets offers a ten euro voucher redeemable on purchases over 60 euros in the food, cleaning and perfumery departments of its shops, either in the physical shops or online. You must register to be able to use and consult this family plan at any time.
– Renfe. Discounts on transport are available to members of large families travelling on AVE, long-distance, Avant, medium-distance, Cercanías and Feve trains of this railway company. Members of large families in the general category can get discounts of up to 20 %, while those in special category families can get up to 50 %.
– Airlines, whether low-cost or not. Air Europa, Iberia, Ryanair and Vueling all offer various discounts for large families on their flights. Specifically, the first three airlines offer a 5 % discount for general scheme and 10 % for special scheme flights. Vueling, on the other hand, offers a 5 % discount on the base fare for families with three children, while those with more than three children can get a 10 % discount.
– IKEA. The Swedish home furnishing multinational has its own card for families, “IKEA Family”. If it is shown in the company’s shops together with the large family card, it is possible to access promotions of 5 % on purchases over 100 euros. TORROX
The PP regrets that the PSOE is once again denying Torrox an exit from the motorway at El Morche and a second breakwater at Ferrara: {Translation, summary}
– The spokesperson of the PP of Torrox, María de los Ángeles Ruiz, has regretted that the Government of Pedro Sánchez has rejected the amendments to the General State Budget proposed by her party, denying the municipality both a new exit of the A-7 motorway proposed at the height of Güi, in El Morche, and a second breakwater in Ferrara, initiatives that the municipality has been proposing in recent years.
– María de los Ángeles Ruiz said she hopes that “between favours for the pro-independence supporters, the socialists will have time for Torrox, because they cannot put a brake on the growth that our municipality is experiencing. These are works that a municipality that looks to the future needs, that wants to put sustainable growth before the pollution generated by traffic jams and tourist quality before the loss of the beach when the storms arrive”. ENERGY CRISIS
Repsol increases the discount in the price of gasoline and diesel to 39 cents per litre, how to get the discount: {Translation}
– Refuelling is still considerably more expensive than a year ago, at around 50 or 70 cents more per litre of petrol or diesel, respectively. To mitigate the effects of inflation, the government launched in spring the 20 cents discount, applicable to all fuels, which expires on 31 December 2022.
– Will this aid be extended? The executive has not revealed what will happen after that date. Repsol has unveiled its next move, offering from now on a discount of up to 39 cents per litre, if a series of requirements are met.
– In parallel to the government’s aid, the oil companies have also launched a series of promotions to try to build consumer loyalty.
– In this sense, Repsol offers a discount of 25 cents per litre to those customers who refuel at its service stations. This discount is increased by 30 cents if payment is made using the Waylet application or the Solred card. It is now launching a higher discount to attract more citizens.
Requirements to obtain the discount of up to 39 cents from Repsol
– The Spanish company has sent a communication to its customers to explain how they can get a discount of up to 39 cents per litre when they pass by the pumps at its service stations.
– Here’s the small print: To qualify, several conditions must be met, including paying with the Waylet application and having an electricity and gas contract with Repsol.
– Firstly, and for six months, Repsol includes an additional discount of 3 cents per litre refuelled, regardless of the number of contracts the user has in force.
– In addition, an extra 2 cents can be added if the customer has one contract; 3 cents if they have two contracts; or 4 cents if they have contracted three services. If drivers fill up at the e10 diesel or 98 petrol pumps, they will be able to benefit from the last 2 cents extra until they reach the 39 cents announced.
– The benefit of 39 cents per litre will only be possible for half a year. This is because the 3 cents promotion will only be active for six months. After this time, the additional discount will be a maximum of 4 or 6 cents. UK Pirate TV Box & Kodi Wizard Seller Who Made £2.3m Gets Nearly 30 Months in Prison:
– Starting in the early part of the last decade, large numbers of technically-minded individuals began selling piracy-configured set-top boxes to the public.
– Unlike many of their cohorts running torrent and streaming websites, many pirate box sellers conducted business in person and in broad daylight.
– So-called ‘fully-loaded’ Android boxes were openly sold on eBay, Amazon, and other online platforms, while local markets, car boot sales, and dedicated retail units offered a same-day service. By mid-2015 it was common knowledge that the UK’s Police Intellectual Property Unit, Trading Standards, and Sky were teaming up to take sellers down yet a surprising number of sellers carried on regardless.
– On November 11, 2022, at Southwark Crown Court, Powell (44) pleaded guilty to supplying articles for use in a fraud. According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), he was sentenced to two years and four-and-a-half months imprisonment.
– “Powell attempted to hide the illegitimate nature of his business by concealing evidence that he was selling products pre-configured to stream Sky Sports and Sky Cinema. However, PIPCU officers were able to prove he was aware the set-top boxes were being used for this purpose by thousands of customers,” says Detective Sergeant Peter Gartland from PIPCU. Nuclear Fusion Experiment Just Made Something Very Strange Happen: In a recent study, charged atoms, also known as ions, have been found to behave strangely during nuclear fusion reactions, in ways that scientists did not expect. According to a paper published on November 14 in the journal Nature Physics, researchers at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory discovered that when deuterium and tritium ions, which are isotopes of hydrogen with one and two neutrons, respectively—are heated using lasers during laser-fusion experiments, there are more ions with higher energies than expected when a thermonuclear burn starts. When Did Cooking Food Begin? Evidence of fish cooked 780,000 years ago: {Translation}
– Examination of the remains of a huge 2-metre carp marks the earliest signs of cooking by prehistoric humans 780,000 years ago, predating available data by some 600,000 years.
– The remains were recovered from the Gesher Benot Ya’aqov (GBY) archaeological site in Israel and show that the fish was cooked approximately 780,000 years ago. Cooking is defined as the ability to process food by controlling the temperature at which it is heated and includes a wide range of methods.
– So far, the earliest evidence of cooking dates back to about 170,000 years ago. The question of when early humans began using fire for cooking has been the subject of much scientific discussion for more than a century. These findings shed new light on the issue and are published in Nature Ecology and Evolution.
– Dr Irit Zohar of Tel Aviv University and Dr Marion Prevost of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, lead authors of the research, say: “This study demonstrates the great importance of fish in the lives of prehistoric humans, for their diet and economic stability. In addition, by studying the fish remains found at Gesher Benot Ya’aqob we were able to reconstruct, for the first time, the fish population of ancient Lake Hula and show that the lake was home to fish species that became extinct over time.”
– “These species included giant barbs (carp like fish) that were up to 2 metres long. The large quantity of fish remains found at the site demonstrates their frequent consumption by early humans, who developed special cooking techniques. These new findings demonstrate not only the importance of freshwater habitats and the fish they contained to prehistoric human sustenance, but also illustrate the ability of prehistoric humans to control fire for cooking food, and their understanding of the benefits of cooking fish before eating them.
– In the study, the researchers focused on pharyngeal teeth (used for grinding hard foods such as shells) belonging to fish of the carp family. These teeth were found in large quantities in different archaeological strata at the site. By studying the structure of the crystals that form the enamel of the teeth (whose size increases with exposure to heat), the researchers were able to prove that the fish caught in ancient Lake Hula, adjacent to the site, were exposed to temperatures suitable for cooking, and were not simply burned by a spontaneous fire.
– Until now, evidence of the use of fire for cooking has been limited to sites that began to be used much later than the GBY site, around 600,000 years ago, and most are associated with the emergence of our own species, homo sapiens.
– Another author, Professor Naama Goren-Inbar of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, added: “The fact that fish cooking is evident over such a long and uninterrupted period of settlement at the site indicates a continuous tradition of cooking food. This is another in a series of discoveries related to high levels of cognitive ability of the Acheulean hunter-gatherers who were active in the ancient Hula Valley region.”
– “These groups were deeply familiar with their environment and the various resources it offered them. Furthermore, it shows that they had extensive knowledge of the life cycles of different plant and animal species. Acquiring the ability to cook food marks a significant evolutionary advance, as it provided an additional means of making optimal use of available food resources. It is even possible that cooking was not limited to fish, but also included various types of animals and plants”.
– The authors point out that the transition from eating raw food to eating cooked food had dramatic implications for human development and behaviour. Eating cooked food reduces the body energy required to break down and digest food, allowing other physical systems to develop. It also leads to changes in the structure of the human jaw and skull.
– This change freed humans from the daily, labour-intensive work of foraging and digesting raw food, giving them free time to develop new social and behavioural systems. Some scientists see fish consumption as a milestone in the quantum leap in human life. Photo is a recovered ancient carp skull.
