Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a freind/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

Editor’s Note to SELLERS OF E-SCOOTERS, including Mobility Scooters: These are growing in popularity, and sellers will likely offer them more often in the future. I am treating these as I would a car. You need to include the year of manufacture. Buyers do want to know how much use it has had, as in how long you have had it, however, they also want to know how old it is. A newly purchased scooter, that sat in the stockroom for 3 years before being bought, is still 3 years old. Your cooperation is appreciated.

MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

Hospital waiting lists once again break records and there are already almost 800,000 patients without surgery: {Translation}
– The public health system has once again reached an all-time high of patients on the waiting list for non-urgent surgery in the National Health System (NHS) as a whole, with 793,521, according to data as of 31 December 2022 published by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.
– There are 86,781 more people on the waiting list than a year ago, 12.28 percent more, and 51,003 more than in June (742,518), 6.87 percent more. The average time for an operation is now 122 days, compared to 113 in June 2022, although this is one day less than a year ago.
– Health points out, however, that “the average waiting time is very similar to those of December 2021”, when surgical activity was recovering after COVID-19, “and even to dates prior to the start of the pandemic”. However, 22 per cent of patients have been waiting more than six months for surgery, which again represents a worsening compared to a year ago (20.3 per cent) and June 2022, when this percentage was 17.6 per cent.
– As usual, the speciality with the highest number of patients is Traumatology with 190,990 patients waiting (177,239 a year ago and 187,404 in June 2022), followed by Ophthalmology with 172,093 patients (150,355 in December 2021 and 159,218 in June last year). Meanwhile, the speciality with the lowest number of patients is Thoracic Surgery, with 2,418 (2,101 in December 2021 and 2,355 in June), followed by Cardiac Surgery with 3,642 (3,533 a year ago and 3,304 in June).
– The specialities with the longest average waiting times are Plastic Surgery with 242 days (226 in June) and Neurosurgery with 203 (193 six months ago). Meanwhile, Dermatology with 75 days (12 more than in June) and Cardiac Surgery with 80 (75 in June) are the specialities with the shortest average waiting times.
– The 11 clinical processes specifically monitored in this information system have an average waiting time of 95 days (90 six months ago). The average delay recorded for cataract surgery, one of the most frequent procedures, is 74 days (70 in June). Surgery for benign prostatic hypertrophy stands at 131 days, the same as in June, and bunionette surgery at 133 (122 six months ago).
– By autonomous regions, Castile-La Mancha and the Canary Islands have the longest waiting time for surgery, with 157 days, ahead of Extremadura (156), Cantabria (154) and Catalonia (154). The autonomous regions least affected are Madrid (63 days), the Basque Country (73) and Galicia (75). Above the national average waiting time of 122 days, there are a total of nine autonomous communities: Andalusia (134), Aragon (128), the Balearic Islands (124), the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castile and Leon (123), Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia and Extremadura. Below this threshold are: Madrid, Basque Country, Galicia, Asturias (94), Valencia (88), Murcia (100), Navarra (85), La Rioja (111), Ceuta (82) and Melilla (39).
– The autonomous region with the most patients on the waiting list in terms of population per 1,000 inhabitants is, as usual, La Rioja (with 8,738 patients in total), slightly ahead of Cantabria (15,314). Behind is Asturias (22,956), Catalonia (173,494) and Extremadura (21,786). At the other end of the scale are Melilla (barely 400 patients), the Basque Country (23,029), Madrid (72,626) and the Balearic Islands (13,757).
– The Autonomous Regions with the most patients waiting more than six months are Cantabria (32.3%), Extremadura (32%) and Catalonia (31.6%). Less than 30% are Andalusia (25.3%), Aragon (25.6%), Asturias (13.1%), Balearic Islands (22.2%), Canary Islands (28.5%), Castile and Leon (24.9%), Castile-La Mancha (29%), Comunidad Valenciana (13.5%), Galicia (6.7%), Madrid (4.3%), Murcia (18%), Navarra (10.9%), País Vasco (7.1%), La Rioja (22.9%), Ceuta (13.1%) and Melilla (0%). Tennis News- Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz to miss Monte Carlo Masters through injury:
– Rafa Nadal will miss next week’s Monte Carlo Masters having failed to recover in time from an injury that has sidelined him for months, with world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz also pulling out of the tournament. Nadal was forced to skip the Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells last month as well as the Miami Open that ended last week, as he continues his recovery from a hip issue that ended his Australian Open title defence in the second round in January.
– Alcaraz, who had an injury-plagued start to the season, will also miss the tournament. The 19-year-old was last in action last week at the Miami Open, where he was beaten in the semi-finals by Italian Jannik Sinner. “I have post-traumatic arthritis in my left hand and muscle discomfort in my spine that needs rest to cope with all that is to come,” he said.
– Also on the Monte Carlo withdrawals list is Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, ranked seventh in the world, who has been struggling with a left knee issue. Full article: https://www.skysports.com/tennis/news/12110/12849706/rafael-nadal-and-carlos-alcaraz-to-miss-monte-carlo-masters-through-injury

Golf News- Pro Golf takes steps to rein in the big hitters:
The sport’s governing bodies have proposed introducing a heavier ball to counter the constant increases in distance players are achieving. Year after year, the distance that golfers can send a tee shot with their state-of-the-art drivers has increased as steadily as the speed of their projectiles. Last year witnessed the highest average ever recorded on the PGA Tour in terms of meters gained with the most powerful club, 274m, as well as the highest average ball speed ever recorded at 276.5 km/h. The two governing bodies of world golf, the USGA and the British Royal and Ancient, have proposed a measure to rein in these big-hitters: a ball modified to travel up to 10% less. ARTIFICIAL INTELLEGENCE (AI)

Italy temporarily bans ChatGPT, other EU countries study if harsher measures are needed to rein in the wildly popular chatbots:
– The Italian authority’s move last week was aimed at starting a dialogue with the company to address the issues raised over ChatGPT’s compliance to EU data protection rules and not to ban the tool, a source familiar with the matter said.
– OpenAI has not responded to regulators. Meanwhile, OpenAI has taken ChatGPT offline in Italy on Friday. It did not respond to questions about other European regulators looking into potential violation in their countries.
– The Italian investigation into OpenAI was launched after a nine-hour cyber security breach last month led to people being shown excerpts of other users’ ChatGPT conversations and their financial information.
– Italy is the first Western country to take action against a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence. While the Italian regulator has only singled out ChatGPT so far because of its popularity, other AI platforms such as Google Inc’s Bard might be questioned too, several experts said.
