SPAIN
From October, it will be mandatory to use the ‘400’ prefix for business calls in Spain: {Trans., summary}
– Spain will require all commercial calls to use the 400 prefix from October, making them instantly identifiable. These numbers are one-way only, preventing return calls to reduce fraud. Existing 800 and 900 customer service lines, which allow two-way communication, remain unchanged.
– The government has already blocked 192 million calls and 17 million fraudulent SMS messages. From 7 June, an official registry managed by the National Commission on Markets and Competition will authorise all mass SMS senders, targeting identity spoofing by fake messages impersonating companies, banks, government bodies and energy firms. Minister Óscar López confirmed that this will end such fraudulent SMS practices. The measures aim to improve transparency, protect consumers and ensure efficient use of public numbering resources under the Customer Service Law passed last December. Sevilla’s Iconica Fest aims to become the biggest music event in Spain: {Trans.}
– The Iconica Santalucía Sevilla Fest has once again confirmed its position as one of the country’s major cultural and musical events. In fact, according to data provided by the organizers, the festival has already surpassed 277,000 tickets sold, matching, with a month and a half still to go before it begins, the total number of tickets sold for the entire 2025 edition. This data, especially significant within the usual behavior of the sector – in which approximately 40% of tickets are sold in the weeks prior to and during the celebration of the event- allows us to project a sustained growth that would place the festival above 358,000 attendees in 2026.
– If this trend is confirmed, Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest would not only reinforce its national leadership as a cycle festival, already above events such as Viña Rock, Sonorama Ribera or Sónar, but would also position itself as the music event with the largest audience in Spain , even surpassing major events such as Arenal Sound or Primavera Sound Barcelona. MALAGA PROVINCE
The Aemet warns- the heat arrives in Malaga with temperatures “more typical of June than April”: {Trans.}
– The summer seems to have arrived early in Malaga. High temperatures are already filling the beaches on the Costa del Sol and bringing maximums of nearly 30 degrees in places such as Manilva, where 28.3 degrees Celsius were recorded at 11.10 hours, making it the fifth highest temperature in Spain this Wednesday.
– The thermometers are giving no respite. At 10.00 on this Thursday, the stations in Torremolinos and Nerja were already recording the second and fourth highest temperatures in the country, with 22.9 degrees Celsius and 22.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
– The heat will continue throughout the week in the province. All this is due to Spain facing a period of settled weather and clearly rising temperatures, which will bring values more typical of June than of mid April, according to the spokesman of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), Ruben del Campo. According to the Agency, anticyclonic conditions will dominate much of the country over the coming days, with maximum temperatures widely exceeding 25 degrees and even 30 degrees in numerous areas.
– The province of Malaga will face the rest of the week with temperatures exceeding 25 degrees in many places. For this Friday, maximums of 24 degrees are expected in the capital and minimums of 16.
– Looking ahead to the weekend, fine weather will continue on both Saturday and Sunday, with maximum temperatures of up to 25 degrees and minimums of 17 in the city of Malaga. The warm conditions will also continue next week, when maximums of up to 28 degrees are forecast both in the capital and in areas of the Guadalhorce Valley.
– In towns such as Velez Malaga, Ronda and Antequera, 25 degrees will also be reached, while Coin will be one of the hottest places during these days, with maximums of up to 27 degrees. Construction in Malaga strengthens growth in the first quarter with a 37% increase in approved housing, mostly in the west of the province: {Trans., summary}
– The construction sector in the province of Malaga maintained a favorable evolution in the first quarter of 2026, with a growth of close to 37% in the number of homes approved compared to the same period of the previous year. These are “the best records since 2017, when the sector began to leave behind the effects of the 2008 financial crisis and begin its recovery, after several years with significantly lower activity levels”.
– In regard to completed homes, a total of 1,815 units were completed in the first quarter, which represents an increase of 48% compared to the same period in 2025. In this regard, they have indicated that none of them are from VPO. Of them, 608 were single-family homes, distributed in 124 projects. Fuengirola stands out significantly with 404 completed homes, followed by Marbella with 46 and Malaga with 38 units.
– In the case of multi-family homes, 1,207 units were completed, divided into 44 projects. Estepona and Mijas lead this area with 241 and 239 completed homes respectively. NERJA
It’s a disgrace– River Chíllar in Nerja, one of the most visited natural sites in Malaga province, is set to remain closed for a fourth consecutive summer:
– The popular river walk was closed in August 2023 due to overcrowding and fire risk. Although two companies have submitted new proposals for managing controlled access to the site, administrative deadlines and the lack of pending technical reports mean the process remains unresolved as the new tourist season approaches.
– What was once proposed as a solution to manage overcrowding has become a long-standing problem, with a second tender process once again causing delays and threatening to leave one of the main natural attractions of the eastern Costa del Sol unused for a fourth consecutive year. VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA
Southern Spain’s largest unmanned aviation air show arrives in Vélez-Málaga: Friday 17 to Sunday 19 April
– Warning- there is a lot of conflicting info, and old info from previous years, circulating on the internet. Some say the location is Velez-Malaga, others say Torre del Mar. Torre has its own event scheduled in late summer, so this is confusing. The poster mentions both. So take this with a grain of salt. Look for updates here: https://www.facebook.com/people/Asociaci%C3%B3n-Aguacate-Model-Airshow/100077997065892/
– The event will take the facilities of the Real Aeroclub de Málaga, at the aerodrome of the Axarquía ‘Leoni Benabú’ of Vélez-Málaga.
– The day of Friday 17 will be dedicated to the reception of participants, technical checks and trainings, from 12:00 hours to sunset.
– On Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 a.m., the main day of the festival will take place. More than 120 aeromodels will participate in the air show, which will last throughout the day and will allow you to enjoy the acrobatic maneuvers carried out by the best pilots of planes and radio control helicopters in Spain and Portugal.
– On Sunday 19 in the morning free exhibition flights will be held, in which the aeromodelistas will be able to give free rein to their acrobatics until the early hours of the afternoon, at which time the event will be finished.

IMMIGRATION IN SPAIN
Explainer for the next 2 articles: These are 2 parallel but independent proceedings seeking to halt the Immigration Decree implementation, each using a different method of challenge. The Association for Reconciliation and Historical Truth challenge has a 10 day response time; the Hazte Oír challenge has a 20 day response time. -Ed.
The Supreme Court rules out immediately suspending the mass regularization of immigrants, gives gov’t 10 days to respond: {Trans., summary}
– The Supreme Court has rejected an urgent suspension of the decree authorising the extraordinary regularisation of immigrants. The Administrative Litigation Chamber found no special urgency and dismissed the request from the Association for Reconciliation and Historical Truth. The group had sought to halt the measure immediately without first hearing the Government’s arguments through the State Attorney’s Office.
– The Chamber will now process the suspension request under the ordinary procedure, opening a ten-day period for submissions.
– The association argued that urgent suspension was needed because the decree would enter into force immediately, triggering rapid administrative processing and massive cumulative legal effects, including a large volume of applications for individual residence and work permits.
– However, the Supreme Court ruled that urgency cannot simply arise from a rule’s entry into force the day after publication. {The judges totally ignored the most important arguement in favor of a halt– the administrative processing reason for immediate stoppage. The problems with processing and lack of staff are well documented; they are not prepared to process the up to 10,000 or more daily applications that are expected. Not to mention all the wasted time for applicants, and wasted time & wages for processing agents, if the Immigration Decree is successfully challenged. -Ed.}
– The Court stressed that a prior hearing of the defendant is essential to assess whether a precautionary measure is justified. The existence of established procedures and deadlines in the decree means there is no risk of irreversible situations if the case follows normal proceedings.A similar precautionary request from the group Hazte Oir will also be handled in the ordinary way, with both sides given the opportunity to present arguments.
Source, Spanish: https://www.larazon.es/espana/supremo-descarta-suspender-forma-urgente-regularizacion-masiva-inmigrantes_2026041669e0e1a2097ebe16ad7b0227.html

The Supreme Court gives the Government a “non-extendable” deadline of 20 days to submit the file on the regularization of immigrants: {Trans., summary}
– The Supreme Court has admitted Hazte Oir’s appeal against the decree for mass regularisation of immigrants. It has ordered the Ministry of Justice to provide the full administrative file within twenty days. The fifth section of the Administrative Litigation Chamber has opened a separate file and appointed magistrate Jose Luis Quesada as rapporteur.
– Hazte Oir requests immediate precautionary suspension of the decree, arguing that its application would create consolidated rights such as residence and work permits, Social Security registration, access to benefits, and suspension of expulsion orders. These effects, it claims, would be very difficult or impossible to reverse even if the appeal succeeds, causing irreparable harm to public finances and legal certainty.
– The association warns that the measure structurally changes migration policy, overloading public services and affecting the labour market, welfare system, municipal register and future electoral roll. It also challenges the decree on grounds of manifest incompetence, as it regulates core aspects of foreigners legal status by regulation rather than by the organic law required by the Constitution. Buzzkill ‘Rocky Horror’ proves Broadway has totally lost the plot:
– They’re coming for the “Time Warp” — but getting a scolding. Audiences for the Broadway revival of “The Rocky Horror Show” are being confronted with buzzkilling warnings against shouting out the hilarious call-backs and tossing around the iconic props that are the main reasons for the rollicking musical’s enduring popularity.
– No more throwing toast when the actors raise their glasses to propose one. Tossing rice during the wedding scene is verboten. Forget jumping to the left and stepping to the right. Dancing the “Time Warp” in the aisles is in the rear-view. Better leave your Riff Raff and Magenta costumes at home. No more fun.
– Self-serious management at Studio 54, where the show is being staged, are bleeding the joy out of a theater experience that energized legions of misfits, freaks and suburban wannabes.
– All of us flocked to midnight screenings of the movie spinoff, as well as to live theater productions from here to London, to indulge in a subversive taste of raunch and rock ‘n’ roll. I, for one, grew up subwaying it from Queens to Greenwich Village or the Upper West Side armed with the trinkets and memorizing the shout-out lines that made “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” a touchstone of my generation and the ones to follow. On a visit to London, I was pleased to see the tradition had spread from New York City back to a live-action theater across the pond, where it all began.
– But now bossy signs, utterly antithetical to the rebellious “Rocky Horror” spirit, greet fans in place of audience participation kits containing such items as toilet paper, playing cards and rubber gloves they can loudly snap. The missives warn theatergoers to shut up rather than honor the tradition of spouting gleefully at the actors. NEW LIFE CHURCH
New Life Church
– Sunday Service:
Whether you live in Nerja or are visiting our area, you are very welcome to come and join us on Sundays at 11.00am. Join us for a time of Holy Spirit led worship and experience the presence of our God. Our teaching is Bible based as we honour God and obey His Word. During this time of uncertainty, God’s Word reminds us that the Gospel shines brightest in times of darkness. Our service lasts for about 1 hour and 30 mins. With Tea and Coffee afterwards.
– Prayer Meeting:
You are also welcome to join our prayer meetings on Wednesday mornings at 11.00am for 1 hour, where we meet for prayer and worship.
– Jesus said: “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. (John 14:6)

El Puente Christian Fellowship (Vélez-Málaga): We are a friendly, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ. We meet each Sunday at 11am to worship the Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by our Pastor, one of our members or a visiting speaker.
The church meeting hall is situated at: Res: El Olivar 5, 8 Bajo 1, Calle Arbequin, Velez Malaga 29700.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page, or you can contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com or by phone on 665626342.

– Alfie, 4 years old, due to his owner’s ill health, he is now back under our care, and in kennels looking for a new home. A big soft lump, who loves everyone he meets, except cats. Alfie is strong, fully vaccinated and neutered.
– Daisy, 12 weeks old, sadly due to an injury that happened before she was found, she has lost one eye. Daisy is not bothered by this at all, she is a normal happy, playful pup, will be large in size.
Please take a look at our website, where you will find more information and photos, plus details of other dogs and pups that we have in our care. Our adoption costs are 110e for pups that have been fully vaccinated, rabies, chip and passport. 180e for older dogs that have all vaccinations, neutered and passport. This contributes towards their vet and care costs, and helps us to continue rescuing abandoned dogs and cats.
