Motril Air Show: Sun, 21 June
– The Motril Airshow will take place on the beaches of Motril’s coastline, featuring a wide array of aviation disciplines and functions, including combat, rescue, security, emergency response, and firefighting. Among the most outstanding participants in this 20th edition are aircraft and helicopters from the German Air Force with the Tornado combat line, American-made helicopters, Maritime Rescue helicopters, participation from INFOCA and even the presence of air forces from the Civil Guard and the National Police.
– Department of Citizen Security has prepared a series of recommendations to enjoy the event safely:
– Access the beaches at least two hours before the event to avoid congestion and use the different beach access points via Avda. Ntra. Sra. De la Cabeza, Rambla de las Brujas and Ctra. Playa Granada.
– Parking areas have been set up, two of which can be found next to the Katena Restaurant, in addition to the usual parking areas located in the seafront area in front of the campsite, the area of the Hoyo-19 Beach Bar, the area next to Villa Astrida, the Moriscos area, as well as a new area set up at the beginning of Playa Granada next to the golf driving range.
– Parking will be prohibited in a small area in front of the Chiringuito Espeto.
– It is important to note that access to the event area will be via Camino del Pelaillo and Playa Granada.

At midnight, the town’s streetlights are turned off, and locals unleash torrents of water from windows, balconies, and public hoses onto anyone in the streets. In addition to the massive mass bath that runs through the streets of the municipality at midnight, the programming will include cultural, musical and gastronomic activities.

– At 10am, a pilgrimage mass at the Hermitage of Santa Ana – built on the remains of the castle – accompanied by the Romeros del Rosario Choir. From the hermitage, the procession will depart for the recreational area of the Fábrica de La Luz (Power Plant), where lunch will be served, consisting of paella and drinks, for a cost of five euros.
– During the day, Miguel Botana will perform, the pilgrim and his court will be chosen, and there will be a ribbon race on horseback with a prize for the best rider, accompanied by the Canillas de Albaida Municipal Band. There will also be an award for the best decorated float.

More than 550 people opted for euthanasia in Spain during 2025, according to the Ministry of Health: {Trans, summary}
– A total of 565 people received the benefit of help to die in Spain during 2025, a figure equivalent to 0.13% of the deaths registered in the country, that is, one in every 750 deaths, according to data provided by the autonomous communities and cities.
– Since the law came into effect five years ago, a total of 1,668 people have opted for euthanasia. The provisional figures also show a steady increase in requests for assisted dying: to date, 3,716 requests have been recorded, 1,284 of which were made in 2025.
– Thus, among the 1,284 applications registered, neurological conditions represent 31%, second only to oncological conditions. However, this distribution is reversed among those who ultimately receive the benefit: neurological diseases account for 46%, while oncological conditions represent around 30%; 83.9 % of those who received the benefit were over 60 years old. Furthermore, 51% received it in a hospital, 35% at home, and the remaining 14% in long-term care facilities. In 98% of cases, it was administered by a healthcare team.
– In terms of international comparison, the provision of assisted dying services in Spain remains significantly lower than in other countries with similar legal frameworks. While in Spain the mortality rate due to assisted dying is 0.13%, in the Netherlands it reaches 5.96%, in Canada 5.10%, and in Belgium 4%. This difference is also reflected in the volume of services provided: 565 in Spain in 2025 , compared to 16,499 in Canada and 10,341 in the Netherlands.
