Today’s issue is a bit of an experiment. Hopefully I have managed to purge the errors. However, I won’t know for sure until this issue gets published Wednesday morning and I can see the results. -Ed.

Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

SPAIN

Spanish Police Predict 5 Million Additional Migrants Could Claim Legal Status by 2030: {Summary}
– Spain could see five million more migrants with “legal” status in the country by 2030 as a consequence of socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s ongoing mass amnesty plans, Spain’s National Police reportedly warned authorities through internal reports.
– Spain’s socialist government is presently carrying out a widely-controversial mass amnesty process that will soon see half a million illegal migrants in Spain receive “legal” work and residence permits. Migration specialists at Spain’s National Police, however, have reportedly warned to the nation’s Interior Ministry that it is highly likely that beneficiaries of the amnesty will end up availing themselves of family reunification chain migration methods that exist in Spanish laws to bring their relatives into the country in the following years.
– Unnamed police officers spoke with the Spanish outlet El Español and affirmed the existence of the reports issued by the police to the Ministry. In the reports, the National Police projects that the Spanish socialist government will grant “legal status” to as many as 1.5 million illegal in the coming years, an amount three times higher than the “half a million” that will receive amnesty once the ongoing mass amnesty process ends.
– According to El Español, the reports emphasize that if the trend continues at “the same pace as it has so far,” it is very likely that if each and every one of the projected 1.5 million migrants brings an average of four family members…Spain could end up having five more million migrants living in the country by 2030. ANDALUCÍA

AEMET announces the first heat wave of the summer for next week: “It is not ruled out that temperatures in Andalusia will exceed 40 degrees”: {Trans, summary}
– The first heat wave of the summer could be coming soon. The delegate of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) in Andalusia has slipped this possibility into the weather forecast for the summer of 2026 in the community. The models indicate that the months of June, July and August will be 60% warmer than normal in the eastern third of Andalusia, while that probability decreases slightly for the rest of the community to 50%. Specifically, the north of the community would be more affected with rises of almost one degree above the average.
– “At the end of next week it is not ruled out that we will have the first heat wave,” stressed Juan de Dios del Pino, delegate of the AEMET in Andalusia. As he has indicated in statements to the media, there are signs that indicate that temperatures could increase “above 40 degrees”. However, the delegate affirms that it is still too early to confirm this situation since the AEMET’s forecasts are not accurate more than ten days in advance. Guardia Civil issues warning after banned Jet Skis return to Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs protected area:
– The Guardia Civil has issued a warning after reporting ten jet ski users who were spotted off Cantarriján beach, in the Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs natural park on the border between Malaga and Granada provinces earlier in June.
– Following the recent incident, the Guardia Civil has issued a reminder to users of jet skis and recreational craft of the need to check the relevant navigation regulations and environmental restrictions for each area in advance, particularly in protected areas, coves, cliffs and areas with sensitive seabeds. “Ignorance of the restrictions does not exempt you from any administrative liability that may arise from non-compliance,” the reminder stated. VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA

Authorities are investigating a new shooting at a home in Vélez-Málaga linked to drug trafficking: {Trans}
– Police are investigating a new shooting that occurred in the early hours of the morning in Vélez-Málaga, where an individual fired up to seven shots at a house on Cristo de los Vigías street, causing no injuries. The incident took place around 5:00 a.m., and, according to Ángel Moya in OKDiario, several bullets struck the facade and the front door of the building.
– Following the report, National Police officers and forensic specialists were dispatched to the area, where they found shell casings on the ground and several bullet impacts during their initial inspection. The leading hypothesis points to an incident related to drug trafficking in an area known for its street-level dealing, although the investigation will determine the exact origin of the attack.
– This is the second incident involving firearms in Vélez-Málaga in just a few weeks, following the shooting on May 19th against UDYCO officers during a raid on a warehouse. In light of this latest incident, the Unified Police Union has once again demanded more resources for the police station and warned of the increasing violence associated with certain criminal circles. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA

Rincón de la Victoria celebrates the night of San Juan with parties in La Cala del Moral and Torre de Benagalbón: {Trans, summary}
– Cala del Moral and Torre de Benagalbón will celebrate the San Juan festivities next Tuesday, June 23.
– Both coastal areas of the municipality will offer a complete family-friendly, traditional and festive program to welcome the summer season, which will begin in the afternoon and extend until the early hours of the 24th, with dance performances, live music and the burning of effigies, which will bring together residents and visitors around the fire, in one of the most symbolic moments of the night.
– Starting at 8:00 PM, San Juan Street in La Cala del Moral will host a day of festivities including a bar, a Zumba session with Laura Villodres, a salsa and bachata masterclass led by Iris and Batulé, and a performance by the group Ritmo Andaluz, which will continue until 2:00 AM. At midnight, the traditional burning of the effigy will take place in the large bonfire on the beach.
– Meanwhile, in Torre de Benagalbón, the celebration will take place at the Old Train Station, where dance performances will be given by the groups of Ana Celia Pérez and Chely Guerrero, along with entertainment by Iris and Batulé. The program will also include performances by Toulalan Session and the group Electroduendes, before and after the traditional burning of the effigy, scheduled for midnight, one of the most anticipated moments of the night.
– As every year, the Torresol Neighborhood Association will distribute sardine skewers, which will be free for its members and with a contribution of 2.50 euros for non-members.
{As is typical of Spanish press releases, the only poster image released so far is obscured by people and cannot be read– a most annoying custom. I am told that these people in the pics are usually volunteers (often standing with the main organizer) for whom being in the photo is a “reward”. And I thought parking-lot duty at festivals in exchange for entry & a tee shirt was a bad deal! -Ed.}

HEALTH

“Arsonist of public healthcare”, Antonio Sanz’s scathing attack on the Minister of Health: {Trans}
– The official inauguration of the new Juventud-Rosaleda health centre in Granada, on Monday, left much more than an assessment of the new medical infrastructure. The Minister for Health and Consumer Affairs of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Antonio Sanz {pic}, took advantage of his appearance before the media to launch one of his harshest criticisms to date against the national Minister for Health, Mónica García, whom he went so far as to label an “arsonist of public healthcare”.
– Sanz railed against the Ministry’s management of the open conflict with doctors over the future Framework Statute and the successive days of strike called by the profession. The Minister asserted that the national Minister is contributing to worsening the problem rather than seeking solutions, and denounced the absence of dialogue with healthcare professionals.
– “The Minister’s attitude can only be described as irresponsible,” he stated during his address. According to his explanation, he has personally requested the convening of a specific Inter-territorial Council to address the situation, a petition that, he maintains, has received no response. “She has deceived the doctors and the healthcare professionals”
The Andalusian health chief was especially forceful when referring to the negotiation with the medical staff. In his opinion, the Ministry has broken the commitments it undertook and has generated a deadlock that is harming the entire health system. “She has deceived the doctors because he has not sat down with them, and he has also deceived the signatories of the Framework Statute agreement, because he does not even take into account what he signed,” he argued.
– Sanz affirmed that the Minister is acting with disregard for the professionals’ demands, and argued that both doctors and other healthcare workers have grounds to call for changes to the conditions proposed by the Government.
– Furthermore, he insisted that the negotiation should not be limited to the Ministry of Health, but should also involve the departments of Public Administration and Finance, considering that part of the demands affect competences that extend beyond the health sphere.
– During his address, the Minister gave figures for the impact that, according to the Regional Government, the conflict is having. Antonio Sanz asserted that Andalusia has failed to carry out 1.3 million healthcare procedures due to the strike days held so far. These include consultations, surgical interventions and diagnostic tests that have had to be postponed or suspended. “We are talking about roughly 60,000 healthcare procedures lost each day. This destroys any healthcare system,” he stated.
– The Minister defended the Andalusian Government’s backing of the doctors’ demands and called on the Ministry to open genuine negotiations to prevent the situation from deteriorating further. “The doctors are right. What we ask of the Minister is that she sit down, talk and resolve the problem, rather than look the other way,” he concluded. CANCEL CULTURE / #MeToo

Another #MeToo Fail– The judge investigating Elisa Mouliaá for slander against Íñigo Errejón orders her arrest due to “a clear and unequivocal intention to evade justice.”: {Trans, summary}
– Elisa Mouliaá {pic}, who originally accused Íñigo Errejón (co-founder of the anti-austerity party Podemos, former spokesperson for communist party Sumar) of sexual assault, now faces a slander lawsuit from him and has been ordered detained after failing to appear in court three times, despite explicit warnings. She refuses to cooperate, claiming the proceedings lack proper guarantees and that her absence is justified by overseas work and past medical leave. Yet she simultaneously insists she seeks “effective judicial protection”, while denying the court the basic courtesy of attendance, a plainly hypocritical posture.
– Her argument that claims that the main sexual assault case is “stalled” does not excuse her from answering a separate, lawful summons for slander. By portraying herself as a victim of judicial overreach while actively evading the very process she demands, she undermines her own credibility. Her stated reliance on European standards rings hollow when she will not submit to ordinary judicial procedure, revealing a selective respect for the rule of law that applies only when it suits her narrative.
