When does the time change in March 2023?: The time change will take place in the early hours of Sunday, 26 March 2023, when the hands of the clock will have to be moved forward by one hour, so that 02:00 hours will become 03:00 hours (official peninsular time).

– Donation Presentation News. On Tuesday the 14th March, the Phoenix Club members invited the Presidents of La Cruz Roja and AVISA to receive our annual donations. La Cruz Roja received €3500 and AVISA received €1000. In addition a UK Service charity ’Walking with the Wounded’ also received €1000. Our President Tim Denham and Treasurer Mary Burbery made the presentations.

– On Wed. April 12th at 11 am: The U3A-Bio Beach Wed. Lectures Series. Speaker Norma K. presents “America the Beautiful” through the lens of their National Parks. If you like amazing photography and breathtaking vistas and colors, you’ll be enchanted. To name a few, we’ll visit sites in Arizona & Utah, California with their stunning Sequoias, Colorado, Montana and even Hawai’i. – Art Gallery: Exhibition of Paintings and Objects. Local artist Coby Bloemsma is exhibiting her latest work (pic on right) in the restaurant of Bio Beach Club. Semi-abstract in style, Coby’s paintings often have the human figure as subject. She uses acrylics and mixed-media. Her objects and sculptures are made from recycled materials. – The United Kingdom is dealing with strikes warned by unions of different sectors, starting from workers at passport offices, rail workers, health sector, while another 3,000 engineers, firefighters and security guards at UK’s biggest airport are also expected to join the strike.
In addition to the UK airport being affected by strikes and potentially causing disruptions, the passport offices in the country aren’t also working, as officers are walking out to protest over their pay and work conditions.
– It further worsens as rail workers have also joined the strike for better work conditions and higher salaries, also impacting those that were seeking an option to visit the UK without having to be caught up in airport havoc.

Guardia Civil alert about a scam related to the 200-euro aid cheque: {Translation}
– The Guardia Civil warns about the latest SMS scam telling the victim that it has not been possible to receive the 200 euro grant that the government is offering. No official institution is going to ask you for any personal data via SMS. The main objective is to get hold of your personal bank details. You are told to update the information in a link, which redirects to a fraudulent website, which appears to be that of the Tax Agency’s website and in which a form appears, with the aim of disorienting the victim and which may even create doubts. You are asked for the following information: full name, telephone number, address, postcode, telephone number, card number, card expiry date, security code and the card’s PIN. And here’s the catch! You should not click on it, let alone provide any personal details, and you should never enter your bank card number.
– The Office of Internet Security (OSI) recommends that if you have received an SMS with these or similar characteristics and you have not yet clicked on the link, you should delete it immediately. If you have clicked on the link, you should contact your bank to report the incident and, if there are unauthorised transactions, block them. Often, you should keep an eye on your banking transactions or on any unknown or unauthorised transactions, so that you can immediately contact your bank and be in time to cancel them.
– According to Directive (UR) 2015/2366 of the European Parliament, banks should refund to the consumer the money stolen by their credit card or online banking. In case the scam has taken place, you should contact the authorities as soon as possible and report your case.
