What’s On

Tell them you saw it on DigameXtra! Tell your favourite establishments to post on DigameXtra to get next-day publicity!

Due to the Covid restrictions, to avoid disappointment I suggest you call to confirm events and times before the event. -Ed.

Bands & Acts: Please submit your gig promos, don’t rely on venues to do all your publicity! Many venues and bookers mistakenly think a quick Fakebook post is sufficient to promote a gig, and evidently placing posters out in the streets is a fading tradition, so you are missing out on many potential attendees. Most of those FB posts only have a few likes so obviously are not reaching many people. DigameXtra sends out over 4100 email issues everyday to subscribers, and the website gets another 800 visits per day. That is way better exposure than you are getting in FB posts!!!

Deal between Spain and UK plans to eliminate Gibraltar border checkpoint: The document describing this framework agreement, which EL PAÍS has seen, contemplates demolishing any “physical barrier” between the British Overseas Territory and La Línea in Cádiz.
The “Proposed framework for a future EU-UK legal instrument setting out Gibraltar’s future relationship with the EU” also talks about implementing a double-key system (controlled by both Gibraltarian and Spanish officers) for entry through the port and airport of Gibraltar, which would in effect be joining the Schengen area, a European free-travel zone made up of 26 countries (22 from the EU, plus Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein). As a part of this zone, the international boundary would no longer be at La Verja, but at Gibraltar’s port and airport. The UK is not a part of Schengen. Andalucia Road Closures, Truck Restrictions & Chain Requirements: {Translated from https://sevilla.abc.es} Updated 01/11/2021 11:54
-Up to nine highways present on the morning of this Monday, January 11, cut their circulation in the Andalusian autonomous community as a result of the storm, which forces the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) to keep the black level activated on them, which means that they are impassable, while in another five the use of chains or winter tires -red level- is mandatory, and in another nine the circulation of trucks and articulated vehicles is prohibited.
-Specifically, at the black level – that is, the road is impassable – there are two roads in the province of Almería, one in Cádiz, another five in Granada and one in Seville, according to information from the DGT consulted by Europe Press with updated data at 9.00 am this Monday.
-The impassable roads in the province of Almería are the A-5405 and the A-5406. In the first case, traffic in both directions is cut off between kilometer points 19 and 28, near Las Tres Villas, due to snowfall, and in the second -on the A-5406-, between kilometers 0 and 5 in both ways, as it passes through the municipality of Serón as a result of the ice.
-In the province of Cádiz, the CA-9104 is impassable between kilometer points 0 and 13.3 in both directions, at the height of Grazalema , due to snowfall, while in the province of Seville the same occurs on the SE-179, between kilometers 0 and 43.75 in both directions, in the municipality of Cazalla de la Sierra as a result of the snowfall.
-In the province of Granada there are five roads with impassable sections, all of them attached to the provincial road service of the Junta de Andalucía.
-It is, specifically, the A-317 in both directions at the height of La Puebla de Don Fadrique , between kilometers 59 and 90; the A-337 between kilometers 11 and 36 as it passes through La Calahorra in both directions; the A-395 in both directions between kilometers 32 and 39 at the height of Monachil ; the A-4301 from kilometer 0 in an increasing direction of traffic, and the A-4302 in both directions between kilometers 0 and 4.1, in both cases as it passes through Huéscar. In all cases, it is the snow that motivates these cuts.
-With the red level activated -which implies that the circulation of trucks, articulated vehicles and buses is prohibited, as well as that the use of chains or winter tires is mandatory- there are three roads in the province of Almería, which are the AL-3404 -between kilometers 13 and 23 in both directions at the height of Ohanes through snowfall-, the AL-4404 between kilometers 20 and 28 in both directions as it passes through Gérgal, through the ice, and the AL-5402 between the points kilometers 9 and 28 in increasing direction of traffic at the height of Bayárcal due to snowfall.
-In the province of Granada, the A-317 between kilometers 91 and 113 in both directions at the height of La Puebla de Don Fadrique is found in this situation; and the A-338 between kilometers 22 and 45.3 in both directions at La Calahorra, in both cases due to snowfall.
-Yellow level. Finally, the DGT keeps the yellow level activated on nine roads in the community, which implies that is the circulation of trucks and articulated vehicles prohibited.
-In the province of Almería, the A-1178 is in this situation – between kilometer points 32 and 16 in both directions in the mountain pass Las Menas by ice-; the AL-3102 in both directions between kilometer points 18 and 42 in Velefique due to snowfall; the AL-5407 between kilometers 0 and 8 in both directions in Bacares by ice; the AL-9100 between kilometers 0 and 5 in both directions at the height of Vélez-Blanco; the AL-9101 between kilometer points 0 and 15 in both directions as it passes through María, and the A-9102 between kilometers 0 and 15 in both directions at the height of Vélez-Blanco, in all these cases, by ice.
-Finally, in the province of Granada, the roads with a yellow level in some of its sections are the A-4128 between kilometers 0 and 5 in both directions at the height of Cástaras; the A-4130 between points 11 and 27 at Torvizcón in both directions, and the A-4132 between kilometers 25 and 41 as it passes through Órgiva in both directions, in all cases due to snowfall. Snow and ice disrupt lives, vaccine rollout in Spain: The Spanish capital of Madrid was still trying to get back on its feet Monday after a 50-year record snowfall that paralysed large parts of central Spain and hampered the delivery of coronavirus vaccines.
The blizzard dumped over 50 centimeters (20 inches) of snow in some areas and a cold front was turning mounds of fluffy white into sheets of ice and crusted drifts. At least 700 roads were still not clear enough, half of them unfit for driving without chains.
Temperatures were expected to drop to minus 11 degrees Celsius (12 degrees Fahrenheit) in a large swathe of the country later Monday, according to the national AEMET weather agency, prompting authorities to urge people to exercise caution. Full article:

WhatsApp Scam Alert- A scam impersonates WhatsApp support to steal verification keys: {This is an edited version, not the full article, translated from https://www.laprovincia.es}
A new scam that has been distributed by the WhatsApp messaging application pretends to be the technical service of the platform to obtain the verification keys of the users, informing of an alleged illegitimate login.
In the fraudulent message, cybercriminals try to deceive the user by stating that “a WhatsApp account has recently been registered with his number.” “We cannot determine if the login is legitimate,” they add.
Under this pretext and threatening a supposed “indefinite suspension”, the scammers seek to obtain the six-digit verification codes of WhatsApp that are sent by SMS to identify users.
WhatsApp never writes to users on WhatsApp personally, and if it does (for global ads, but it is very rare) it always shows a green verification indicator visible, as WABetaInfo has recalled, something that was not present in this fraud.

Fury at ‘pathetic nit-picking’ as Dutch police strip the ham out of lorry driver’s lunch and tell them ‘Welcome to Brexit’ in import crackdown:
Dutch police officers have sparked fury after office were filmed laughing at a British truck driver as the officials confiscated the man’s ham sandwiches in line with post-Brexit import rules.
‘Welcome to the Brexit, sir,’ one of the officers says mockingly in the video of the incident, as the driver pleads: ‘Can you take the meat and leave me the bread?’
Footage from Dutch TV showed the border officials confiscating sandwiches and other foodstuffs from drivers entering the Netherlands from the UK.
The EU does not allow for meat, meat products, milk or dairy products to be brought in from countries outside the union for ‘personal consumption’.
