DoctorLaptop’s February Special: Windows 10 Reinstall, €50
As Windows 10 approaches it’s 6th birthday, people who have been using it since 2015-2016 are beginning to see their 6+yr old computers slow down, even if it is well maintained. That is inevitable after so many years of Windows updates and bug patches piling on top of each other.
To restore the original quickness of your system let me do a system reinstall. The latest version of Windows will be newly installed along with all the newest drivers for your model, and all your data will be saved. What will not be saved is all your old third party software. This old software slows the system down and you will be better off with it removed. Then you may install new versions of software you still use, that won’t slow the computer down, as it is designed to work with the latest version of Win 10. Reinstalling 3rd party software you may have purchased and installed is NOT part of this job, that is the users responsibility. Examples would be Photoshop, MS Office and Rosetta Stone.
I will replace free-to-download 3rd party software at no extra charge, like Open Office, VLC Player, Adobe Reader (Free version), etc.
Note: This special does NOT include reinstalling and setting up iTunes.
Contact DoctorLaptop for an appointment, be sure to include the make and model of the unit.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2021- Serena, Novak, Rafa chasing history:
Forget about aces or double-faults, winners or unforced errors. The statistic that has come to mean the most in tennis these days is “Grand Slam titles won.” Which is why so much attention will be paid to Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams at the Australian Open.
Play begins at Melbourne Park on Monday (Sunday EST), with Williams and Djokovic among those on the schedule and Nadal’s first-round match set for Day 2. Each match for each member of that trio is a possible step on the way to some history.
This is Nadal’s first chance to grab sole possession of the men’s mark for most Grand Slam singles titles. He pulled even with Roger Federer at 20 by winning the French Open in October, beating Djokovic in a lopsided final. Federer is still sidelined after two knee operations. AP Photo/Andy Brownbill. New AI (Artificial Intelligence) Can Detect Emotion With Radio Waves!: There are national security and privacy implications to an experimental neural network that deciphers how people respond to emotional stimuli.
A UK research team is using radio waves to pick up subtle changes in heart rhythm and then, using an advanced AI called a neural network, understand what those signals mean- in other words, what the subject is feeling.
The breakthrough is intended to help health and wellness professionals better understand the emotional states of patients. As for its implications regarding national security and individual privacy, more research needs to be done, just like other issues concerning ethics and responsible use of this new technology, researchers say. The proliferation of new advances in AI, coupled with new sensors, will add to difficult discussions about privacy in the years ahead. Handheld wireless lie detectors may be just a few years away, that can measure your emotional reactions to questions, sending radio wave readings via 5G nearly instantly to AI that will analyze it to determine if you are telling the truth. Just one more step towards a world with no privacy and no secrets.
There is no law in the United States against passive data collection of cardiac rhythms with antenna just as there is no law prohibiting the photographing of faces in public. There was no need for such regulation…until now. And we’d better do it soon before we lose our individualism and creativity. Once these doors are opened there is no going back. We must learn from the nightmare social media has become, these new technologies often have serious downsides not apparent at the time they are introduced.
