-Repsol has obtained a net profit of 1,392 million euros in the first quarter of the year, which means increasing its result by 115% compared to the 648 million in the same period of the previous year.

Spain loses 100,200 jobs and unemployment increases by 70,900 people in the first quarter: High inflation and high energy prices took their toll on the Spanish labor market, which slowed down both in job creation and in the drop in unemployment at the start of the year. Why Is Madrid Intentionally Creating A Gas Crisis?- More Questionable Spanish Gov’t Decisions Put Gas Supplies At Risk, Again Angering Algeria:
-Algeria threatens to scrap gas contract with Spain for interfering with Algerian / Morocco conflict.
-Gas giant Algeria threatened Wednesday to break a contract to supply gas to Spain if Madrid transferred it onwards to “a third destination”, amid tensions with regional rival Morocco.
-Algeria’s state-owned energy giant Sonatrach supplied more than 40 percent of Madrid’s natural gas imports in 2021, most of which was supplied directly through the 750-kilometre (465-mile) Medgaz deepwater pipeline.
-Algeria, Africa’s largest gas exporter, previously also supplied gas through a second GME (Gaz Maghreb Europe) pipeline, which links Spain to Algeria via Morocco. But Algiers in November shut supply through the GME due to a diplomatic rupture with Rabat, depriving Morocco of Algerian gas.
-On Wednesday, Algeria’s Energy and Mines Minister Mohamed Arkab said his Spanish counterpart informed him that Madrid was to “authorise the operation, in reverse flow” of the GME pipeline, and that this would start “today or tomorrow”, an energy ministry statement said. It did not mention the country the gas would be sent to, but it is assumed to be the country connected to Spain by the GME pipeline, Morocco, who Algeria wants to block from receiving Algerian gas.
-However, in February, Spain said it would help Rabat to “guarantee its energy security” by allowing it to transport gas through the GME.
-Algiers warned that any routing of “Algerian natural gas delivered to Spain, whose destination is none other than that provided for in the contracts, will be considered as a breach of contractual commitments.” Doing so “could result in the termination of the contract between Sonatrach and its Spanish customers”. Votes for life in UK general elections for British expats finally becomes law: British citizens living in Spain are celebrating today after the law in the UK changed to allow them to vote in Westminster elections. The move could affect hundreds of thousands of expats across Spain and many more Britons worldwide.
The new ruling is part of a bigger elections bill which received Royal Assent this Thursday, 28 April, and British ministers have committed to implementing it within the current parliament. Previously, UK citizens lost the right to vote 15 years after they last voted there. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/votes-life-general-20220428163546-nt.html
British Airways to Continue Cancelling Flights to Europe Until June Due to Staff Shortages: According to the Chief Executive of the travel consultancy PC Agency, Paul Charles, the slow processing of security passes for airline staff had led to delays in boosting staff numbers. Charles stressed that such an issue would continue, not just with British Airways but with other airlines as well. More than 1,000 flights have been cancelled by British Airways over the last three weeks. In addition, Secretary of State for Transport of the United Kingdom Grant Shapps has called on the airlines to get reliability back into the system again. SPORTS
Spain out of 2023 Rugby World Cup for using ineligible player in qualifying: Spain will not play at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France because it used an ineligible player in qualifying, World Rugby and the Spanish rugby federation said Thursday.
-The federation said World Rugby has decided to sanction Spain with a fine and the loss of five points for each match it played with South Africa-born front-rower Gavin van der Berg on the team.
-Spain had qualified for its second Rugby World Cup – and first since 1999 – in March, but it will drop out of the qualifying places. Romania will take its place and Portugal will advance to the world repechage tournament in November.
-The investigation was opened after a complaint by the Romanian rugby federation about Spain illegally fielding Van der Berg. The Spanish federation said it was looking into the possibility that the player’s passport was forged and opened a disciplinary procedure to investigate the case. It has 14 days to appeal the decision by World Rugby. Full article: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/article-spain-out-of-2023-rugby-world-cup-for-using-ineligible-player-in/

TECH
You can finally remove your phone number and email address from Google Search results – here’s how: With the internet in a constant state of evolution, people with less-than-savory intentions will, unfortunately, always be looking for ways to compromise you by tracking down your most sensitive information. Finally, though, Google is taking greater strides in protecting internet users from having their data fall into the wrong hands.
Google has officially announced that it’s expanding its personally identifiable info (PII) removal policies, with users now able to request the removal of sensitive information including email addresses, phone numbers, and home addresses should they spot them in Google Search results. Full article: https://www.techradar.com/how-to/you-can-finally-remove-your-phone-number-and-email-address-from-google-search-results-heres-how
Editor Comment To Previous Article- This is a double edged sword as Big Tech introduces advanced tracking/tracing/data collection methods: Google Artificial Intelligence already has a profile of you. They may remove your online info, but they won’t forget it, and they won’t quit selling it. To remove your exposed data, they will require you identify each item and where it is located. That’s a hassle, you know they could search for, and find these items more efficiently than you can. You need that info when you visit the “disconnect tool” website, VPNs not allowed, and there confirm a bunch of confidential info to prove you are who you say you are. As soon as you visit their site they will instantly scan your cookies to collect all the search terms you’ve used, and a list of all the websites you have visited recently. Now they have connected you, and all your online activity to your true location, and probably your exact address, using your un-hidden IP address. If you found your mobile phone number online, they may now also have the complete history of your daily movements, that your phone service provider collects as your phone pings the nearest tower while you move from place to place. JACKPOT! For Google, the data they just collected from you is now far more valuable, as it is connected to a confirmed person and address and phone number. Google’s advertisers pay far more for info allowing them to target ads to specific persons with a profile of known interests & buying habits & contact info & travel routines. After this one last thorough data harvest, Google may remove from public view the items as requested. They’ll even congratulate you afterwards for being security conscientious. But privately they are thinking, “we don’t need your stinkin’ cookies…” You see, they are moving on to new methods of tracking & tracing you. “A device fingerprint, machine fingerprint, or browser fingerprint is information collected about a remote computing device for the purpose of identification. Fingerprints can be used to fully or partially identify individual users or devices even when cookies are turned off.” Anyone who is curious about the current advancements in tracking and targeted ads, in plain English without a ton of jargon, should read this article, “Browser Fingerprinting: What Is It And What Should You Do About It?” at https://pixelprivacy.com/resources/browser-fingerprinting/
FINANCIAL
What to do if the ATM does not give you the money or keeps your card: It is rare that it happens, but sometimes, after having carried out a transaction, you do not receive the cash. Follow the steps here to claim what is yours.
-First of all, check that the cash exit slot of the ATM is not blocked and if the incident occurs during office hours, report the problem. If the branch is closed or it is an ATM not located in a bank branch, do not leave without your money. Call the telephone number for incident assistance that should appear at the cashier and request that they give you an incident number for your claim. Take photos if possible, and write down the details of the cashier, as well as the time the operation was carried out.
-What if the ATM has swallowed the card? So after completing an operation, the ATM does not return the card. It’s probably a technical problem, expired card, or blocked because you have made a mistake several times when entering the PIN, and for security reasons the ATM retains the card. In this case it is recommended to block the affected card by calling the phone number authorized for this purpose by the card issuer.
