Fully restored for 2021, this is one of the most romantic hotels in Malaga. Its location in El Limonar means it has panoramic views of Malaga city and bay and its history gives it a Moorish vibe and atmosphere that you won’t find anyway else. The 5-star hotel has just 24 rooms, each exquisitely decorated and unique. Treat yourselves to the suite with two rooms and terrace for a break to remember. The hotel is slightly off the beaten track making your own transport a must, but if you don’t want to drive, get a taxi there and then use the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service to get to and from the beach and city centre.

Halting Erosion Using Vetiver Grass from Vetiver Spain:
Vetiver Grass is a fast growing non-invasive clumping grass that grows to 2 metres in height. It has a root system that grows to 3-4 metres deep and they are very strong.
The National Geographic Magazine has called them “Roots of Steel”.
Once Vetiver is established it is drought resistant.
We are located in Sayalonga and we can plant all year round but February and March are the best months to plant Vetiver. Vetiver loves the heat of a long summer to get established.
Decomposing Vetiver used as a mulch, improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away as it is a natural insect repellent. It is in the same family as Lemon Grass, which we also carry.
Vetiver also is a nutritious and replenishable animal feed. Horses, cattle, and pigs love it.
We use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive Ornamental hedge.

Recommendations & Requests
Recommendation for BluCee: We had a flat in El Morche which was rented out using BluCee’s rental department. It was a difficult market place with Covid but they consistently managed to rent it using Spaniards & Northern Europeans when the Brits were unable to travel. We sold the flat because we are moving area and we used BluCee estate agency. Again, the same, drive, enthusiasm and professionalism ensured it sold quickly for full asking price. We cannot recommend Blucee highly enough. (Contact BluCee, tel: 0034 711 042 727. BluCee’s contact info can be seen everyday in the Sponsor’s Section of DigameXtra)

Recommendation for parking near Malaga airport: We have always used SP Parking. Their rates are reasonable, there is a shuttle service to and from the airport, although they are not far from the airport itself. I would highly recommend SP Parking. Tony, Torrox Park, oddjobtony at gmail dot com

SPAIN
Consumers and marketers will pay for the government’s electricity intervention plan, it was previously proposed to be paid by the utilities with record-breaking windfall profits recent crises have generated: {Translation, 1st paragraph only}
-Spain and Portugal have a letter of conformity from the European authorities, which now needs to be confirmed. The main debate is the compensation to companies that produce electricity using this raw material for the real price of gas, which is higher than the cap imposed. According to sources close to the Ministry, those responsible for paying this difference will now be consumers and marketers who go to the regulated tariff, with the option of passing it on to their customers, and also through customers who go directly to buy from the electricity pool.
(So now the consumer energy bailout is turning out to be a loan that consumers will end up paying for in the long run, rather than a plan for utility windfall profits to cover the difference? I wonder how many campaign donations were required to arrange that? -Ed.)

Aldi recalls two garden shrubs listed as toxic invasive species in Spain: The supermarket chain is asking anyone who has bought these plants to return them to any of its stores, where they will be given a refund. The shrubs in question are labelled as the Gardenline ‘Mariposa Buddleja’ and ‘Florece abundantemente Polygonum aubertii’. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/
Deposits On Cigarette Butts? Catalonia proposes a 20 cents fee per cigarette to encourage the return of butts: The extraordinary amount would be returned in full upon delivery of the used cigarette butts. It is suggested that the returns of the butts can be made in the same tobacconists where they were purchased or in other points of sale of cigarettes, in addition to recycling points. The Catalan Government, which considers that the measures promoted so far are “not very effective”, proposes including the initiative in the draft of the new national Waste Law, in which single-use plastics are also curbed, unnecessary packaging is eradicated from food and microplastics are removed. Provoking EU, UK sets out new law to fix post-Brexit Northern Ireland trade: Britain set out steps on Tuesday to try to break the deadlock with the European Union on trade with Northern Ireland, lining up a new law that would effectively override parts of a Brexit deal and further inflame ties with Brussels.
In a statement to parliament, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said planned legislation would ease the movement of goods, apply Britain’s tax regime in Northern Ireland and hand London more say over the laws governing the province. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/
