Spain’s Minister of Health Says He Won’t Consider Moving Malaga’s Costa del Sol and Granada Into Phase 1 Despite Backlash From Costa del Sol: When asked at a press conference whether the Government was planning to review its reports so that some territories such as Malaga and Granada, could advance to the next phase earlier than expected, Illa rejected the notion explaining that this had been a “prudent review carried out in bilateral meetings” which would not be changed. Proposed Changes to Timetable For Outdoor Activities: The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has announced that after several meetings with other regional governments and Pedro Sanchez they have decided the timetable will change on Monday. There will be different new rules for Areas that have moved on to Phase 1 and those that remain in Phase 0. New virus clusters show risks of 2nd wave as protests flare: Health officials worldwide are watching to see just how much infection rates rise in a second wave as nations and states emerge from varying degrees of lockdown.
South Korea reported 34 more cases as new infections linked to nightclubs threaten the country’s hard-won gains against the virus. It was the first time that South Korea’s daily infections were above 30 in about a month. China reported 14 new cases Sunday, its first double-digit rise in 10 days. Germany, which managed to push daily new infections below 1,000 before deciding to loosen restrictions, has seen regional spikes in cases linked to slaughterhouses and nursing homes. Russia is still reporting rising infections. Figures released Sunday recorded 11,012 new cases, the highest one-day tally yet. Full story: https://apnews.com/31e2a373b12913978190f229f14a76be
UK government prompts confusion, changes ‘stay at home’ to ‘stay alert’: The United Kingdom’s government on Sunday swapped out its “stay at home” slogan for “stay alert” as it readies to present a roadmap on how to exit the lockdown. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will detail a new color-coded alert system for the de-escalation which, according to British press, will include green for level one and red for level five. The plan from the Conservative Party government was met with immediate backlash from political opponents and even derision from several well-known figures on social media.
The leaders of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have all signaled that they would not be adopting the approach taken by the central government in Westminster, despite several government ministers insisting that all four nations in the UK should move in lockstep. Full story:
Moreno complains to Sánchez of having done a “reputational damage” to the Costa del Sol: The President of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, She complained yesterday morning, during the meeting of presidents with Pedro Sánchez, that the central executive, by not having allowed Malaga and Granada to have passed the phase, like the rest of Andalusia, has caused “a reputational damage ”to the Costa del Sol, which will make it more difficult for you to recover from the pre-pandemic situation.
Juanma Moreno has also complained of the distribution what has become of the 16,000 million from the fund announced by the Prime Minister last week, since Andalusia, the most populated autonomous community, will receive very little money, not having taken into account the population, when the consequences of the crisis for this community will be much greater, from the economic point of view, than in other territories that have been most affected by the coronavirus health crisis.
The Andalusian president told Pedro Sánchez that it is hard to understand how health districts such as the Costa del Sol, with 1.6 CRP cases per 100,000 inhabitants, cannot go to phase 1 when health districts with much higher incidences have. Coronavirus CAN enter the body through the eyes: Scientists find eye cells are a prime target for the deadly virus to attach to: A team led by Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine have now found the eyes produce ACE-2, making them a target for the virus. It means if droplets from an infected person’s sneeze or cough were to land on the surface of the eye, the virus could begin infiltrating cells there. It may explain why some patients have suffered conjunctivitis – an inflammation of the eye which causes it to become red and infected. Little Richard, Founding Father of Rock’n’Roll Who Broke Musical Barriers, Dead at 87: Pianist-singer behind “Tutti Frutti,” “Good Golly Miss Molly,” and “Long Tall Sally” set the template that a generation of musicians would follow. Little Richard, whose fervent shrieks, flamboyant garb, and joyful, gender-bending persona embodied the spirit and sound of that new art form, died Saturday. He was 87. The cause of death was bone cancer, according to his lawyer, Bill Sobel.

Ever Wonder Where All That EU Money Goes? Astronaut urine ideal for building on moon: The urine of astronauts has proven to be an ideal compound for making concrete to build a space station on the Moon, according to a study by the European Space Agency (ESA) published Friday.
According to the report, urea, the main organic compound of urine, “would make the mixture for lunar concrete more malleable before hardening into a final, sturdy shape for future lunar habitats.”
“The science community is particularly impressed by the high strength of this new recipe compared to other materials, but also attracted by the fact that we could use what’s already on the Moon,” Marlies Arnhof, co-author of the study from ESA’s Advanced Concepts Team.
When adding urine to a geopolymer mix, a material that is similar to concrete, the human secretion was more effective than other common plasticizers such as naphthalene or polycarboxylate and reduced the need for water.
Researchers used a 3D printer for creating models and found that the urine mixture was more resistant and malleable than others. Source: https://www.laprensalatina.com/astronaut-urine-ideal-for-building-on-moon/
