Spain’s PP Leader, Casado, Demands ‘Massive Testing and Mandatory Face Masks, Not Medieval Solutions Like Quarantine’: The leader of the PP has criticised the prolongation of a State of Alarm, a measure which he deems as unnecessary. Casado has made it clear that he thinks that Sanchez is using this to his advantage and that the “government is very comfortable in a State of Alarm because it governs with ministerial orders, not even with decrees.”
Casado has demanded that the government begin “massive tests to detect who is infected, isolate the most vulnerable and make face masks mandatory on the streets” instead of “medieval solutions like quarantine.
Amongst other measures, he proposes the creation of a health passport which identifies individuals who have overcome the disease and grants them a larger freedom of movement. This passport would use a fingerprint which can also alert all the persons’ contacts to inform them that the individual has contracted the virus.

Changes proposed to authorised exercise times on Costa del Sol: The Junta de Andalucia wants to make mornings for the elderly and from 2pm until midnight for families and children aged up to 14, and for everyone else to be allowed out when they want, but with the recommendation of wearing face masks at all times. Five minute Coronavirus test misses HALF of cases: Abbott Laboratories’ ID NOW test was hailed for being able to detect a positive result in just five minutes and a negative result in 13 minutes. But researchers from New York University found that the ID NOW test missed one-third of coronavirus samples stored in vials compared to another commonly used testing kit.
What’s more, among samples that were taken using a dry nasal swab, the test from the Illinois-based company missed 48 percent of positive results. Full story: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-8316939/Abbotts-five-minute-coronavirus-test-used-White-House-misses-HALF-positive-cases.html

Spain to reevaluate Malaga & Granada’s readiness for Phase 1 of deescalation Friday after huge backlash from Andalucian & Costa del Sol tourism bodies: Both provinces are hoping they can move to Phase 1 as soon as possible as statistics on the whole in terms of new infections, and number of patients being hospitalised are on the decline. If the results demonstrate sufficient progress, it’s expected that the whole of both provinces should progress to the next stage of deescalation, most probably on Monday May 18. €5 Pints? : British holidaymakers could see the first €5 pint in Spain’s Benidorm on the Costa Blanca as bars fight for survival. A high-end bar owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Euro Weekly News: “I can’t see how my business can survive without price increases to compensate for capacity reductions. “Whilst I know I’m not going to get British tourists for a while, looking at the media and government statements, I have no option but to increase my margins to survive.” He said this includes food and drink. “People pay €5 or more for a pint when they go to France, so should expect to pay it when they come to the delightful Benidorm.” Full story: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/05/14/british-holidaymakers-could-see-the-first-e5-pint-in-spains-benidorm-on-the-costa-blanca-as-bars-fight-for-survival/

The future of live sporting events?: They’re looking at ways to put virtual fans in the stands, so when you see a wide shot it looks like the stadium is jam-packed and in fact it’ll be empty. Joe Buck, Fox Sports’ lead play-by-play announcer for {American} football, believes we might be looking at a campaign without fans in the stands. In an interview with SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen, Buck said that Fox is exploring a few routes to provide for a more normal viewing experience should these fan-less games come to pass. When pressed by Cohen, Buck said he was certain crowd noise will be added to potential broadcasts without fans, and went as far as to say “I know they’ll do it” and that it’s “pretty much a done deal.” Full story: https://eu.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2020/05/13/joe-buck-fox-possibilities-nfl-games-without-fans-coronavirus/5188573002/
