Andalusia adds only two deaths from coronavirus, the lowest figure since September: {Translated from https:sevilla.abc.es} Updated: 02/01/2021, 17:30
Andalusia has added this Saturday only two deaths from coronavirus . This is the lowest figure since the beginning of September. In total, the community has already registered 5,160 deaths since the start of the pandemic . Going into detail, the deceased have been registered one in Malaga and the other in Seville, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Families.
This low number of deaths – last week there were always around 20 each day – must be taken with caution. The succession of holidays may have altered the communication of the data, so that in the next few days will be the real evolution of the health crisis seen .
In any case, the infections have also been contained. Of the 1,714 that occurred on December 31, this first batch of data for 2021 showed 1,237, a decrease of almost 500 cases and, also, less than last Saturday. In total in Andalusia, 262,423 people have already been infected.
Málaga (209 cases), Seville (169) and Cádiz (168), are the provinces, once again, where the highest number of coronavirus infections is registered in Andalusia. They are followed by Almería (151); Huelva (126); Cordoba (111); and Jaén (108).
Meanwhile, the hospitalized continue to decline, as well as the pressure on the health system . In fact, Andalusia adds 893 admitted this Saturday, the lowest figure since September 14 . They are also 83 less than on December 31, the last time data was provided. In the case of the UCI there are 206, four less than on Thursday and a number that had not been seen since last October.

Gibraltar decrees the confinement of its population in the face of the explosion of coronavirus infections: {Translated from https:sevilla.abc.es}
Updated: 02/01/2021, 19:11
Gibraltar has decreed a total confinement of the population due to the increase in infections in recent days. This has been indicated in a speech by the main minister of the English colony, Fabian Picardo, who has indicated that the closure will not be complete because Gibraltarians will be able to leave their homes to work, exercise, make essential purchases , have their children play or for medical reasons before ten o’clock at night. From that time on, they should stay home. In addition, he explained, the border with Spain will not be closed during the 14 days that, in principle, these measures have been agreed upon.
“The number of new infections with Covid-19 in our community is remarkably high and worrisome,” said Picardo, who explained that the Rock is experiencing “growth rates of new infections that are quite exponential and that are having a serious effect on the number of people hospitalized and the number of front-line workers in self-isolation. ‘
As proof of the delicate situation in Gibraltar, Picardo pointed out that “ exactly one month ago, on December 2 , we were reporting 5 new cases of the infection. Today we had 92 and yesterday 172 ». Thus, the virus “is spreading faster than we can control it.”
“The confinement,” said Picardo, “will initially be for a period of 14 days.” In addition, it will be reviewed every seven days , he added. In addition there will be “a 24-hour curfew,” the politician has detailed.
Picardo has also spoken of the presence of the new British strain of the coronavirus, which he believes is circulating in Gibraltar but which, he has indicated, ” cannot be confirmed genetically.” “The social behavior that we have seen in the last three weeks will have helped that new strain or even the original strain to spread as it has done,” the politician reproached. Greece back under lockdown, France sets earlier curfew: Greece’s strict COVID-19 lockdown was extended on Saturday following a relaxation over the end of year festive period. The one-week lockdown is to come into force on Sunday at 06:00 CET and end on January 11. During that time, “all activities and services that were gradually allowed before Christmas are suspended,” government’s spokesman Stelios Petsas said.
An earlier curfew is meanwhile coming into force in France’s most impacted areas on Saturday. Some 6 million people in the east of the country will now not be able to leave their houses come 18:00 CET and until 06:00. Elsewhere, the curfew remains set at 20:00 CET. Cases of the British strain of the coronavirus detected in Malaga, Seville, Granada and Campo de Gibraltar: {Translated from https:sevilla.abc.es}
Updated: 02/01/2021, 14:06
Cases of the British strain of the coronavirus grow in Andalusia. There are already seven confirmed patients who have been infected with this variant of Covid-19, they point out from the Ministry of Health and Families.
As indicated by the counsellor of the branch, Jesús Aguirre, three cases of the British strain are registered in the province of Malaga, two in Granada, one in Seville and another in the Campo de Gibraltar area. “All of them have good clinical evolution,” they indicate from the Board.
From the Ministry of Health they explain that due to the increase in cases they maintain vigilance on confirmed cases of coronavirus that come from the United Kingdom or Gibraltar.
If these travelers test positive for Covid-19, further studies are carried out to determine if it is the British strain that has infected them. How Britons who let out properties in Spain could see taxes triple after Brexit: (Updated 2 January 2021)
Spain’s Inland Revenue is preparing to hike taxes for non-resident British homeowners who rent out their properties in Spain after December 31st 2020.
UK citizens who don’t live in Spain but let out a property in the country will no longer be able to dock off expenses from their tax declaration once they become non-EU citizens.
The measure relates to the IRNR (Non-resident Income Tax), which for EU residents is 19 percent on net income and for non-EU is 24 percent.
Crucially however, foreign non-resident homeowners from the EU, Norway and Iceland can claim back many more expenses (mortgage interest, insurance, IBI, community fees etc) which non-EU resident property owners cannot.
For example, an EU resident who makes €1,000 a month in rental income from a property in Spain will end up paying €779 annually in taxes after deductions, whereas a non-resident from a non-EU country would pay €2,880 a year in IRNR tax for the same earnings and time period. Spain and UK agree 11th-hour border deal for Gibraltar: Gibraltar will become part of Europe’s passport-free zone to keep movement fluid on its border with Spain in a landmark deal reached just hours before Britain leaves the EU custom’s union and single market, Spain’s top diplomat said Thursday, December 31.
Under terms of the agreement, Gibraltar would become a part of the Schengen zone with Spain acting as guarantor, Gonzalez Laya said.
“Until the agreement comes into force, we will use the arrangements permitted under Schengen to relax controls at the border,” she said, indicating the UK and the EU were expected to sign the deal “within an estimated six months”.

Ticketmaster Busted For Hacking Competitor: Ticketmaster has agreed to pay a $10 million fine after being charged with illegally accessing computer systems of a competitor repeatedly between 2013 and 2015 in an attempt to “cut [the company] off at the knees.”
“Ticketmaster employees repeatedly – and illegally – accessed a competitor’s computers without authorization using stolen passwords to unlawfully collect business intelligence,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Seth DuCharme.
“Further, Ticketmaster’s employees brazenly held a division-wide ‘summit’ at which the stolen passwords were used to access the victim company’s computers, as if that were an appropriate business tactic.” Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/01/ticketmaster-to-pay-10-million-fine-for.html
Outbreak of 100 cases after Christmas Day celebration in cocktail bar in Teba, Malaga: According to the city council, all Covid safety and hygiene measures were breached – there was no social distancing, no masks or limited capacity in place and the bar ignored established hours. Some 100 of those who attended have since tested positive in PCR tests. Most of those infected are residents of the same town, are between 18 and 40 years old, and a small group of about 11 people have mild symptoms, reports Cadena SER.
