Just as we saw last year when the pandemic began, there are a lot of false/old news stories being posted on social media, as well as events posted for towns in lockdown for which no cancellation notices have been posted! Read these posts carefully and verify any info with a reputable source before relying on it.

The Government refuses to advance the curfew at eight in the afternoon and the house confinement as requested by Andalusia: {Translated from https://sevilla.abc.es}
Updated: 20/01/2021 19:58
-The curfew in Andalusia will continue at ten at night. The central government has rejected the request of several autonomous communities, including Andalusia, to advance it to eight in the afternoon to try to stop the third wave of the pandemic coronavirus , which is more explosive than the previous two.
-The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa , has assured the Health Councilors that the communities still have room with the measures that are on the table to stop the growth of infections . Thus, the curfew in Andalusia will continue to be, at the earliest, from ten at night to six in the morning.
-In addition, the Minister of Health has indicated, it will not be possible for now to apply a selective home confinement , as Andalusia had also requested. As Illa pointed out, communities have to use the tools available with the current state of alarm to be able to control the pandemic. It is something that “was already done in the second wave,” recalled the head of Health. As the central government explained in recent days, the autonomies should explore ways that are still possible without touching the current state of alarm decree . Thus, the total closure of trade and mobility is still possible before trying other options such as home confinement or early curfew. The next target group for coronavirus vaccination in Spain will be those over 80 years of age: {Translated from https://sevilla.abc.es, content covered in other articles today has been edited out to avoid repetition.} Updated: 20/01/2021 20:20
-The Minister of Health Salvador Illa announced that the next target group for vaccination will be people over 80 years of age. The Health Minister affirmed that there are not vaccines for everyone at the same time, but he wanted to convey tranquillity, because “Europe has ordered another 300 million vaccines, of which 75 million will arrive in Spain in the second quarter.”
-When asked if there are guarantees so that those who have received the first dose can receive the second in due time and form, the also candidate for the PSC in the next elections in Catalonia affirmed that “yes, they are guaranteed” and that “Nothing happens if instead of getting vaccinated a second time at 21 days it is done at 22, 23 or 24”.
-On whether there will be sanctions for mayors and political officials who have been vaccinated when they were not eligible, Salvador Illa said that this is not the task of the Ministry of Health , but “of the autonomous communities.”
-Illa also gave the data that Spain has exceeded one million vaccinated against Covid-19 this Wednesday. Specifically, there are already 1,025,937 people who have received some dose, of which 15,642 have already been immunized with the two required . The Ministry has already distributed a total of 1,346,100 doses to the autonomous communities, of which 76.2 percent have already been administered.
-Illa hopes that “by the end of the week practically all will be vaccinated.” With the data of this Wednesday, a vaccination of 2.17 of every 100 people in Spain has been achieved. The minister stressed that, thus, our country has become “second in the European Union and seventh in the world” in percentage of vaccinated. “We do not do races, it is about working efficiently,” he commented on the matter.
-The President of the Board has informed that Andalusia has sufficient capacity to daily administer a higher number of doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 than those currently being administered. For this reason, Moreno has asked them, “to the extent of their possibilities, increase the doses that reach the autonomous community to achieve full immunization of the Andalusian population as soon as possible.” Illa, in the subsequent press conference, stated that vaccines by communities will be the same for all, “regardless of whether the regions put more or less first doses.” Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-proximo-grupo-diana-vacunacion-coronavirus-espana-seran-mayores-80-anos-202101201915_noticia.html

Spain’s over 70s will start being vaccinated in March – if there are enough doses: The immunisation of the over 70s – the next ‘target group’ in Spain’s vaccination strategy against Covid-19 – will begin in March if Pfizer’s supply problems are ironed out. Full article:

Covid Vaccine Scammers in Almeria: The National Police in Almeria have warned of yet another vaccine scam targeting the elderly and vulnerable. Officials reported that two older people were visited in their home by a man wearing a white coat claiming to be a health worker there to offer them the Covid-19 Pfizer jab. He then proceeded to questions the pensioners about other people living on their urbanisation, seemingly particularly interested in whether they lived alone.
National Police have reiterated the caution that coronavirus vaccines are only administered by the Junta de Andalucía through official health centres, and that the jabs are never given out in private homes. Full article: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/01/20/covid-vaccine-scammers-in-almeria/
