Halting Erosion using Vetiver
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Sanidad maintains the vaccination plan and will not postpone the second dose of Pfizer and Moderna: {Translated summary} Updated: 04/20/2021, 20: 33
The Ministry of Health will maintain its vaccination strategy and will not postpone the second dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. It voted in favor of maintaining it and against immunizing more population with a single dose. Scientific opinion is divided on the advisability of distancing the shots to have more people, at least, with one dose. These 98 Andalusian towns face perimeter or non-essential activity restrictions: Andalucía will, from Friday, 15 April, have a total of 98 municipalities with perimeter lockdowns and 33 of them will also face the suspension of all non-essential activity, for exceeding the rate of 500 and 1,000 cases of Covid-19 coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively, in the last 14 days.
This represents an increase of 12 municipalities with restrictions compared to the previous week. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/local/202104/15/these-andalusian-towns-face-20210415185440.html

No Expert Committee meeting this week- The Advisory Council on High Impact Public Health Alerts will most likely meet next Tuesday: {Translated in full} Updated: 20·04·21, 16:04
-The Andalusian government has decided to postpone until next week the meeting scheduled for tomorrow of the committee of experts that takes decisions on the restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, officially known as the Advisory Council for High Impact Public Health Alerts.
-Sources from the Andalusian government have confirmed to Efe the delay of the meeting scheduled for Wednesday 21 April, as announced by the Andalusian Regional Minister for Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre, who said that this decision could be taken because it was possible an improvement in the trend of contagions was possible.
-The most likely date for the meeting of the expert committee is Tuesday 27 April, according to sources from the Andalusian regional government.
-The minister said that the committee of experts meets “when important decisions have to be taken” and added that it was perhaps preferable to delay this week’s meeting in order to “keep a watchful and expectant eye” on developments in the Andalusian community.
-Andalusia has been in a situation of extreme risk to control the pandemic since last Sunday because it has exceeded 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last fourteen days, and yesterday, Monday, the accumulated incidence was 263.7 cases.
-However, the Minister stressed that the incidence at seven days was lower, with 115 cases, which could mean a trend “to improve” as well as a “positive projection”. Photo:L.O. Source, Spanish: https://www.laopiniondemalaga.es/andalucia/2021/04/20/habra-comite-expertos-semana-48509047.html

Spain proposes delay of second Pfizer and Moderna jabs: Spain’s Ministry of Health is proposing to postpone the second dose of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for up to eight weeks among people under 80 years of age to increase the number of people vaccinated – even if the protection is not complete. This would be in line with the strategy being used in other countries such as Israel and the UK. Germany starts demanding first fiscal adjustments from Spain: In a recommendation to the OECD, Berlin asks for cuts “sooner rather than later” despite widespread global support for continued stimulation of coronavirus-hit economies.
In a report from Germany to which EL PAÍS has had access, its position on Spain is that the drop in public revenue and the rollout of stimulus measures will leave Spanish public debt at around 120% of gross domestic product (GDP) for several years to come. This will leave very little room for fiscal measures when the next crisis hits, and even more so if interest rates start to go up again, as the Bundesbank is beginning to suggest.
The main thing, says Germany, is for Spain to offer “an ambitious and credible” commitment to reduce public debt, as a sign to the markets. (Remember what happened to Greece, when another weak economy was pushed over the brink by the EU? -Ed.)
Even the most orthodox German economists fail to fully understand the rush to demand adjustments “sooner rather than later” from an economy that has been so deeply damaged by the pandemic as Spain’s has. “It would be a blunt political and economic mistake,” said Jakob F. Kirkegaard, of the Peterson Institute for International Economics. “It is absolutely premature of Germany to pressure for adjustments, there is simply no reason for it at the present moment. It would be much better to pressure for Spain to present a recovery plan with powerful reforms, and for Germany to try to present a good plan that will serve as an example of how to spend the European funds properly.” Full article: https://english.elpais.com/economy_and_business/2021-04-20/germany-starts-demanding-first-fiscal-adjustments-from-spain.html

Google’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Driven Censorship Blunders- Reckless DMCA Takedown Purges Legitimate Websites from Google Search: Several legitimate websites had their homepages removed from Google simply because they somehow reference the word “live” or “living.” This includes the homepage of Live Nation Asia, the Living Architecture website, as well as the homepage of the UK technology company Living Map.
For example, NASA’s live streaming and multimedia pages are targeted. The same is true for Al Jazeera’s live streaming site, as well as the BBC’s page that allows people to stream Radio One.
Needless to say, these are all obvious errors that should have been avoided if there was some human oversight. It also shows how risky relying on ‘automated filters’ and ‘takedown bots’ can be.

Football News- Madrid court bans UEFA, FIFA and LaLiga from taking action against Superliga: {Translated, 1st paragraph only} Madrid’s 17th Commercial Court this morning banned FIFA, UEFA, LaLiga and the football federations from adopting any measure that “prohibits, restricts, limits or conditions in any way, directly or indirectly” the launch of the European Super League, the new competition promoted by 12 major European clubs. The court decision, which has been taken at the request of the Super League itself, orders these institutions to refrain from taking “any sanctioning or disciplinary measure” against the clubs that join the new competition, nor against their players and managers. It also vetoes the exclusion of the clubs promoting the Super League “from any of the international or national club competitions in which they have been participating regularly”, such as the Champions League. Football News- Chelsea and Manchester City to withdraw from European Super League: Chelsea and Manchester City are to withdraw from the European Super League. The clubs on Sunday were among 12 teams, including six from the Premier League, to join as founder members.
Chelsea’s move comes amid a backdrop that saw significant concerns raised in a meeting between the players and club’s chairman Buck on Monday. Buck had convened them to outline what was, at that point, the club’s motivation behind joining the Super League but several international players spoke up and stated in no uncertain terms that they would not countenance a future in which they were barred from playing at World Cups, European Championships and other major tournaments. Malaga Animal Centre Hits Target of Putting Down No Abandoned Animals: The Municipal Animal Health Centre’s figures showed it had reached its commitment to putting down no abandoned pets. Only two animals had to be put down during the first three months of the year, both for illness reasons. Councillor for Environmental Sustainability Gemma del Corral said the figures were the result of working with charities and improved public awareness. The centre says it now only euthanises animals for health reasons. Full article: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/04/20/malaga-animal-centre-hits-target-of-putting-down-no-abandoned-animals/
