Covid Spain- Spain returns to 100 cumulative incidence cases after reporting 10,179 new positives since Friday: {Translation} Updated: 28 jun 2021, 18:40
-The incidence of covid has risen again this Monday by five points and stands at 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to Health, which has reported 10 more deaths since Friday (the lowest figure since last July) and 10,179 new infections.
-The covid transmission rate began to fall two months ago (27 April) uninterruptedly until last week, when, after three days of stagnation, it began to rise on Thursday.
-The 7-day cumulative incidence – the one that gives an indication of the virus trend by reporting the most recent cases – also continues to rise slightly (51.54). For the time being, the increase in infections is not reflected in the ICUs, where the occupancy rate remains at 6.9%, while the hospital pressure is up slightly to 2.04% (1.9% on Friday).
-The total number of infections since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,792,642 and the number of deaths at 80,779, of which 32 have been reported in the last seven days.
CUMULATIVE INCIDENCE
-Castilla-La Mancha (48) is the only community in a situation of “new normality”, recording an incidence of less than 50 cases, along with the autonomous city of Ceuta (16.6). At the opposite extreme is Andalusia, which, with 164 cases, is at high risk of transmission (above 150 cases).
-The rest of the territories are at medium risk (between 50 and 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days).
DEATHS
-Of the 32 deaths in the last seven days, 14 have been reported in Andalusia, 3 in the Canary Islands and another 3 in Castile and Leon. Asturias remains the region with the highest fatality rate in the pandemic (3.7%), while the national rate is 2.1%.
HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS AND DISCHARGES
-In the last 24 hours there have been 244 admissions for covid in Spanish hospitals and 128 discharges. Only three autonomous regions exceed 10% of covid patients in their intensive care units: Madrid (14.5%), Catalonia (11.1%) and La Rioja (11.3%). At present, 2,495 covid patients are hospitalised on the ward and 644 in the ICUs.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
-Spain has carried out 46,257,190 diagnostic tests since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 34,044,503 are PCR and 12,212,687 antigen tests. In the last week, from 18 to 24 June, the autonomous communities have carried out a total of 586,565 diagnostic tests in this period, 83,795 per day. Covid Andalucia- Andalusia’s rate falls for the tenth day in a row to 164.2: {Translation, summary} Updated: 28/06/2021, 16:47
-Andalusia has registered a total of 1,260 cases of coronavirus after the weekend, more than the 1,210 of the same days last week.
-On the other hand, the cumulative incidence rate of the community has fallen for the tenth time in a row and stands at 164.2 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, one point below the rate of Saturday and 9.5 less in seven days.
-By provinces, Malaga is the one with the most cases with 296, followed by Seville with 259, Granada with 190, Cadiz with 173, Cordoba with 130, Jaen with 85, Huelva with 65 and Almeria with 62.
-The three deaths have been recorded- Cordoba (two) and Granada (one).
HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS RISE
-Andalusia has recorded on Monday an increase in the number of people hospitalised with coronavirus to 537, 24 more in one day, but 58 fewer than seven days ago and the lowest figure since 2 September 2020, when there were 522, while those admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) have also increased to 124, two more in one day and 18 fewer in a week.
-Seville is the province with the most hospitalised with 139 and 42 patients in ICU, followed by Malaga with 81 and 14 in ICU; Cordoba with 78 and 22 in ICU; Jaen with 68 and 16 in ICU; Granada with 73 and 17 in ICU; Cadiz with 55 and seven in ICU; Huelva with 27 and two in ICU and Almeria with 16 and four in ICU. Covid Malaga- Covid rate rises almost 12 points in Malaga after the weekend, with nearly 300 more infections: {Translation} Updated: 28 Junio, 2021, 13:27
-The rate of Covid in the province of Malaga has shot up almost 12 points after the weekend and stands at 170.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 158.6 last Friday, according to data updated on Monday on the website of the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA). The balance also leaves nearly 300 more infections, corresponding to the last two days.
-In the case of the incidence, this exceeds that of 4 June, which was the day on which the province entered high risk by exceeding 150 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants by one tenth of a point. In this time, Malaga has not only worsened its numbers, but has now exceeded the Andalusian average. The Andalusian rate is 164.2 in the last fourteen days after falling one point in the last 48 hours. Therefore, the province of Malaga exceeds it by 5.9 points. Almeria has the best figures (65.8), while the worst is Cordoba (255).
-This would be, broadly speaking, the epidemiological panorama with which the province starts the week, after the first weekend in which masks are no longer obligatory outdoors as long as there is a distance of 1.5 metres between people.
-The rise extends to the capital of Malaga, where the incidence also increases, by nine points to 166.5. Both the province as a whole and the city remain at high risk for coronavirus, with a rate of more than 150 cases in the last 15 days.
-By health districts, the Costa del Sol is the one with the worst scenario, as with a rate of 214.2 it is close to the extreme risk level (that which exceeds 250). It is followed by the Guadalhorce Valley (183.6), the Malaga district (158.6) and the Vega de Antequera (151.6). All of them are at high risk. Only two remain at medium risk (the established between 50 and 150 incidence): the Serranía de Ronda (72.7) and Axarquía (94).
-As for the number of cases of coronavirus infection, the province of Malaga reported 296 positive cases on Monday. It should be remembered that these are the cases detected in the last two days, since, as usual, the Regional Ministry of Health did not report any new cases on Sunday.
-With this figure, Malaga has the highest number of cases in Andalusia, followed by Seville with 259, Granada with 190, Cadiz with 173, Cordoba with 130, Jaen with 85, Huelva with 65 and Almeria with 62.
-Those cured in the last 48 hours are again fewer than the number of new infections: 286, according to the statistics of the Junta de Andalucía. Thus, since the pandemic began, 106,068 Malaga residents have been infected, of whom 101,855 have managed to overcome the disease.
-The most positive aspect of Monday’s report is that no deaths have been reported in the province, so the total number of deaths remains at 1,670. Andalusia has recorded three deaths this weekend, two in Cordoba and one in Granada.)
-The situation in hospitals also remains under control, with the lowest number of hospitalised patients with Covid in the last 10 months. There are currently 81 patients admitted to hospital in the province, one more than the day before, of whom 14 are in the Intensive Care Units (ICU), one more than the previous day. According to health data, since the beginning of the pandemic, 8,352 people have been admitted to hospital after being infected with Covid and 797 have been admitted to the ICU. Spain to require travelers from UK show PCR test or be fully vaccinated: Starting on Friday, Spain will demand a negative PCR test or proof of full vaccination from UK travelers, due to concerns over the delta variant of the coronavirus. The conditions will particularly affect travelers to the Balearic Islands, which are going on the UK’s green travel list on June 30. The archipelago is hoping to receive an influx of British visitors due to the eased restrictions. The rest of Spain will remain on the UK’s amber list, which requires quarantining upon return to the UK.
-For British tourists, there are two possibilities: full vaccination with one of the vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organization, with the second dose administered at least 14 days before travel; or a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before arriving in Spain. This represents a change from Spain’s position, adopted a little over a month ago, when the UK was included on its list of countries whose nationals could freely enter the country. Andalusia extends anti-Covid measures until 6 July, when the expert committee meets: {Translation, summary} Updated: 28/06/2021, 14:43
-Andalusia will continue until 6 July with the same measures against Covid as it has at the moment. This has been confirmed by the minister Jesús Aguirre.
-Aguirre has pointed out that the community will be able to continue with de-escalation when two milestones are reached. On the one hand, that the number of hospitalised patients falls below 500 and, on the other, that the cumulative incidence is less than 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in two weeks.
-In the first case, this figure could be reached by the end of this week. If the trend of recent months continues, there could be fewer than 500 hospitalisations for Covid-19 in Andalusia at the weekend.
-There may be more doubts about the cumulative incidence. The rate at which this pandemic speed meter is falling makes it difficult for this number to be less than 150 points before next Tuesday. As a reference, it is currently at 164.2 and in one week it has dropped nine points.
-In this regard, the Minister pointed out that, although hospitalisations “are progressively falling”, the figure set for “taking measures with peace of mind” has not been reached, according to Europa Press. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-andalucia-prorroga-medidas-anti-covid-hasta-6-julio-cuando-reune-comite-expertos-202106281443_noticia.html

First Minister warned Scots to be cautious as the country was hit by 3285 new cases on Monday: The previous record high number in daily cases was 2999, recorded on Friday. The First Minister said the “steep rise in Covid cases” came as Scotland faced the “faster transmitting Delta strain of the virus”. Britain’s ‘freedom day’ will come on July 19, says government: [Updated: June 28, 2021, 7:12 PM CEST] Britain will lift most of its remaining COVID-19 restrictions on July 19 in what has been dubbed “Freedom Day”, the government said on Monday despite fears that an increase in coronavirus cases could lead to more deaths.
-“With every day that goes by it’s clearer to me and all our scientific advisers that we’re very likely to be in a position on July 19 to say that really is the terminus and we can go back to life as it was before COVID as far as possible,” PM Boris Johnson told reporters.
-New health minister Sajid Javid confirmed the decision in parliament, saying he had spent his first day in the job studying the data to see if the next stage of easing restrictions, called step four, could go ahead any earlier.
“Whilst we decided not to bring forward step four, we see no reason to go beyond the 19th of July,” he told parliament, urging the public to stick to the restrictions for now. ‘Extremely high risk’- Hong Kong bans passenger flights from U.K. over Delta variant: It said in a statement Monday that the U.K. has been classified as “extremely high risk“ because of the “recent rebound of the epidemic situation in the U.K. and the widespread delta variant virus strain there.”
Under the classification, people who have stayed in the U.K. for more than two hours will be restricted from boarding passenger flights to Hong Kong. Full article: https://globalnews.ca/news/7986378/hong-kong-flights-uk-delta-variant/
