COVID-19

Covid Malaga- Malaga registers two deaths and new infections remain below 200 cases: {Translation} Updated: 9Sep21
-The incidence rate of coronavirus in the province continues to fall and stands at 123 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while only the Costa del Sol Health District remains at level 2 health alert.
Coronavirus data in Malaga, which since Thursday is now almost entirely at level 1 health alert remain stable although in the last two days there have been slight increases in infections. They are still below 200 cases per day and far from the 275 with which the week started.
-Specifically, the Ministry of Health and Families of the Andalusian Regional Government has notified this Thursday 156 infections in Malaga in the last 24 hours, thirty more than yesterday and 88 more than Tuesday.
-Regarding the deaths, there are two more deaths in the province in the last 24 hours. In the nine days of September 32 people have lost their lives, ten of them have died this week. But in recent days there has also been a slight decrease in this section of the statistics, since the same days of last week (August 30 and September 2) left 27 victims, that is, the deaths would have been reduced by half.
-At present, 196 patients are admitted to hospital and 44 of them are in the ICU, which means that the situation on the ward has improved in the last week (with 34 less bedridden), but the occupancy of the ICU remains identical.
-As for the incidence rate, the province stands this Thursday with 123 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to data from the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA), six points less than yesterday, Wednesday. The fall has slowed, but still maintains the clear downward trend. For its part, the capital is at 133.8 cases, compared to 140.9 the day before.

ANDALUCIA

Andalusians wait an average of 44 days to have surgery and 86 days to see a specialist: {Translation, summary}
-During an appearance to report on the situation of the health waiting list during the pandemic, Aguirre reported the existence of 123,339 patients on the surgical waiting list in Andalusia, which represents a reduction of 22 percent compared to December 2018 and almost 20% compared to June 2020, reducing the average delay by 66 days.
-“We have made a greater effort in those patients pending surgery outside the deadline or who have been waiting for more than 365 days, as the reduction has been 30.8% (with respect to 2018) and almost 61% with respect to June 2020,” referred Aguirre.
-With respect to procedures guaranteed by law, the number of patients waiting is reduced by 2.6% with respect to 2018, and by 7.9% with respect to June 2020 data, reducing the average delay to 44 days.
-The reduction of patients in guaranteed procedures has been 65% with respect to those a year ago; having reduced the number of patients to 90 and 120 days. With respect to 180-day procedures, the number of patients has been reduced compared to a year ago but slightly increased compared to December 2018.
-Regarding the waiting list in outpatient consultations, the number of patients with delays of more than 60 days has been reduced by 16 percent, to place the measured delay at 87 days.
-In diagnostic tests, the situation is somewhat worse than in 2018 and similar to the end of 2019 in patients with delays of more than 30 days; it represents, however, 12 percent fewer patients compared to the previous year.
-Aguirre noted that the greatest effort has been made in serious pathologies that do not admit delay. From March 19 to June 30, 2021, 975 programmable pending patients with tumor pathology have been operated on, representing a reduction of 27% with an average delay for the intervention of 25 days.

EUROPE

EU Health Agency Says Only Three EU Countries Are Safe to Travel to, Though Overall Situation Is Improving: In line with the figures published by ECDD today, September 9, only the following three countries and four regions, which have detected less than 50 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants during the last 14 days, are currently placed in the green category:
Czechia
Hungary
Poland
Region of Italy: Aosta
Region of Romania: Transylvania
Regions of Slovakia: Prešov and Košice
Consequently, this means that travel to these countries/regions is safe. In addition, in general, travellers from these countries and regions reaching the other EU Member States should not be subject to any entry restrictions. Still, it is up to each Member State to decide on its rules, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Morocco’s ruling Islamists defeated by liberals after decade in power: The Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD), which has been in power since 2011, won just 12 seats in the country’s 395-seat parliament, plummeting from the 125 seats it got in the 2016 parliament.
The PJD’s liberal rival, the National Rally of Independents (RNI), won 97 seats to become the largest party in parliament.
The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) came in second, winning 82 seats to retain its position as the second biggest party, despite winning fewer seats than in the last parliament. Smart Glasses by Facebook and RayBan Mix Cool With Creepy- Personal SpyCams Go Mainstream: Ray-Ban’s Stories look like classic sunglasses. Except they’re made in partnership with Facebook and have built-in cameras that are hard to spot. We tested them.
Look, did I feel creepy recording my mother and my aunt without them knowing? Or my barista? Or a random couple at the coffee shop? Or my Uber driver? Or an aggressive squirrel in Central Park? I sure did, but I was just doing my job. Not one spotted the cameras or the recording light until I told them.
And they’re powered by technology from Facebook, which has a long history of privacy issues.
Yet whenever I think of the cool, I can’t shake the creepy. Easy to record your kids! And just as easy for some stranger to record your kids. Easy to capture spontaneous moments with your friends! And just as easy for someone to record a partner who is unaware a camera is on.
Dystopian? Sure. But one of the big lessons of the last decade – and the rise of Big Tech – is that cutting-edge convenience comes at a cost. We’ve already slid down a few slippery slopes, including a lack of data privacy and smartphone dependency. The cost may be worth it at times. We have free search engines and social networks, and little computers in our pockets that do so much.
But before we tumble down the next slippery slope it is worth much deeper consideration. In the case of the Ray-Ban Stories, I’m not convinced being able to take pictures without a smartphone in your hands is worth the potential privacy concerns.
(Privacy and confidentiality will soon be a relic of the past. In the very near future EVERYTHING you do and say, and every penny you spend, and everywhere you go, and all your documents and records, will be recorded, and stored on blockchain for all time, instantly accessible by those providing the data services. And you will pay for the privilege! You will eventually be sold on new convenience and security services the glasses can provide, buy these glasses and feed data of your constant movements to Big-tech. It could even become mandatory. “The world will be safer if we know what everyone is doing all the time”, they will say.  Yes folks, that is where big-tech is headed.
Surveillance cams and microphones are ubiquitous. Smartphones and digital assistants listen for our every word. Everything on the Internet is captured and saved. Now they want to turn every individual into a walking spy-cam! Please remember, every time you give up some privacy, it takes away with it some of your liberty that prior generations thought was worth fighting and dying for. -Ed.)
