The rate of Covid remains low in Malaga and there is hardly 66 new cases: {Translation} Updated: 1OCT21, 13:32
-Covid continues to fall. The rate continues to fall, the pressure on care is decreasing and this Friday only 66 new cases were reported. The number of people infected is 27 times lower than at the end of January, when the relaxation of the Christmas season restrictions paid off. But three more deaths from the virus are to be regretted.
-The province recorded an incidence of 56.1 positives per 100,000 inhabitants; 2.9 points less than on Thursday and very close to the rate of 50 that would place it in the low risk level of spread of Covid. This is the same downward trend in Andalusia, which went from 50.1 to 47.8 between the two days, and in Malaga city, which dropped from 51.9 to 50.5.
-In addition, the number of infections continues to be below one hundred. This has been the case throughout this week, which represents an epidemiological improvement, since the previous week there were days when this threshold was exceeded.
-The three deaths with Covid recorded in the last few hours bring the cumulative number of deaths since March 2020 to 1,963.
-Those cured are three times more than those newly infected. Exactly 213 discharged compared to 66 more infected.
-The pressure on care continues to decrease. There are 88 patients in hospital, 17 of whom are in the ICU. This is less than the 91 and 18 registered on Thursday, respectively, and is the lowest figure in the last three months. Merck says its experimental pill for people sick with COVID-19 reduced hospitalizations and deaths by half: Early results showed patients who received molnupiravir, within five days of COVID-19 symptoms had about half the rate of hospitalization and death as those who received a dummy pill.
The study tracked 775 adults with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 who were considered high risk for severe disease because of health problems such as obesity, diabetes or heart disease. The results have not been reviewed by outside experts, the usual procedure for vetting new medical research.
Among patients taking molnupiravir, 7.3% were either hospitalized or died at the end of 30 days, compared with 14.1% of those getting the dummy pill. After that time period, there were no deaths among those who received the drug, compared with eight in the placebo group, according to Merck. ‘GB’ Car Stickers No Longer Valid for UK Travellers Driving in EU: British nationals will no longer be allowed to drive outside the country with a car that has the over a-century-old “GB” sticker, as it will be replaced with the post-Brexit one that says “UK”.
The “GB” sticker, which meant Great Britain and was valid for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland drivers, was widely used by Britons while travelling outside the country, and it served as an identity token.
Now, with this decision entering force on September 28, it has to be replaced with one that says “UK”. Those that fail to follow the rule can miss their visit to a particular country as the entrance with those stickers won’t be permitted. BUSINESS OWNER ALERT- Fakebook Has Severely Cut the Traffic to Your Business Page, Blocks non-FB members from viewing business pages: It started in Belgium 5 years ago. “In Belgium, Facebook will no longer allow non-members of its social network site to access Facebook pages of companies or organizations.” (https://euobserver.com/digital/131365)
It has now spread to Spain. Most of the business FB pages I checked, including gov’t pages, are now only available if you are signed into FB, even if the page owner has the “View Setting” set to public! There are a few exceptions, but these are few and shrinking in number. FB has not yet responded to my inquiries regarding why some biz pages display for people not signed into FB and other pages don’t, and to honest, I would be surprised if they replied. While I am sure FB mentioned this is some obscure update notice that no one reads, most businesses  will be unaware they are now getting far less exposure.
If you advertise on FB you should be aware that the potential traffic to your pages has been heavily reduced. If you pay FB for ads, you are getting much less for your money! People looking for you in Google search may see a link to your FB page, but it won’t open unless they sign in.
Many people now refuse to have a FB account due to well documented privacy concerns, censorship and dominance of advertising. And despite what Fakebook says, their membership is shrinking, as very few people under 45 use it anymore, and the older users are a shrinking population. So a significant segment of the population will not find your business if you rely solely on Fakebook for your internet presence. (https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2020/08/11/facebook-faces-shrinking-popularity-but-researchers-warn-it-may-be-too-big-to-fail/)
Every business should have their own private website to maximize their internet exposure. Your biz website is the business card for the 21st century. DoctorLaptop can build you a custom website on a free server (no annual hosting fees) for as little as €75. -Ed.

Apple Pay Can be Abused to Make Contactless Payments From Locked iPhones: Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed an unpatched flaw in Apple Pay that attackers could abuse to make an unauthorized Visa payment with a locked iPhone by taking advantage of the Express Travel mode set up in the device’s wallet.
“An attacker only needs a stolen, powered on iPhone. The transactions could also be relayed from an iPhone inside someone’s bag, without their knowledge,” a group of academics from the University of Birmingham and University of Surrey said. “The attacker needs no assistance from the merchant and backend fraud detection checks have not stopped any of our test payments.” Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/10/apple-pay-can-be-abused-to-make.html

Beware of Fake Amnesty International Antivirus for “Pegasus Malware” that Infects PCs with Malware: “Adversaries have set up a phony website that looks like Amnesty International’s — a human rights-focused non-governmental organization — and points to a promised antivirus tool to protect against the NSO Group’s Pegasus tool,” Cisco Talos researchers said. “However, the download actually installs the little-known Sarwent malware.”
