COVID-19
Covid Andalucia- Andalucía’s Covid rate increases for the first time since the beginning of August: A total of 297 coronavirus infections have been registered in Andalucía this Friday, 15 October, higher than the 179 on Thursday and the 221 recorded a week ago. The region has also added nine Covid-19 deaths, one more than the day before and four fewer in the weekly comparison. ANDALUCIA
35.1 % of the Andalusian population is at risk of poverty or exclusion: {Translation}
-35.1 percent of the population of Andalusia is at risk of poverty and/or social exclusion according to data from 2020, and although this figure is 2.5 points lower than the previous year, it is 33 percent higher than the national average.
-According to data from the Andalusian Network for the Fight against Poverty and Social Exclusion (EAPN-Andalusia), whose leaders have made public the data for last year at a press conference, all the indicators that determine “severe material deprivation” are above the national average in Andalusia.
-Housing is one of the indicators that has suffered the most in Andalusia, as the increase in the number of people with arrears in payments related to the main dwelling (which entails delays in the payment of housing expenses and purchases in the last twelve months) has increased by 53 percent.
-After housing, the indicator for food consumption has also increased, so that the number of people who cannot eat a meal of meat, chicken or fish every other day has risen by 41 per cent.
-The number of people who cannot keep their homes at an adequate temperature has also risen, from 2.6 per cent to 6 per cent, an increase of 131 per cent.
-The number of people making ends meet “with great difficulty” has risen from 10.8 per cent in 2019 (which was the lowest figure in EAPN’s history) to 14.8 per cent, an increase of 37.5 per cent.
-Although the effects of the pandemic have already been felt in most of these poverty markers, EAPN officials have assured that it will not be possible to measure them accurately until next year.
-For this organisation, the situation of poverty and social exclusion in Andalusia “continues to be critical”, as the region starts from a situation “of absolute disadvantage in the face of the crisis”, as it is the poorest in Spain, only surpassed by the Canary Islands and Extremadura.
-Thus, Andalusia has 2.97 million people at risk of poverty and/or social exclusion, and the poverty rate in the region has reached 28.5 percent, which is the third highest of all the autonomous communities (with 2.4 million poor people).
-This means that the poverty rate in Andalusia is “very high” as it is 36 percent higher than the national average.
-13.5 percent of the population under 60 living in Andalusia lives in households with “low employment intensity”, in which only 20 percent of their employment potential is employed.
-This employment indicator is also the third highest in Spain, surpassed only by Asturias and the Canary Islands.
-The average income per unit of consumption per person in Andalusia is 9,990 euros, which means that the region is also the third lowest in Spain, ahead of only Extremadura and, very slightly, the region of Murcia.
-According to EAPN data, the pay gap in Andalusia is 29.1, with women earning an annual average of 4,153 euros less than men.
-Of all employed women, 56.8 per cent work below the minimum wage, or 908,688 women. Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1002100/el-351-de-la-poblacion-andaluza-esta-en-riesgo-de-pobreza-o-exclusion/
UK
International arrivals to England can swap PCRs for antigen tests from 24 October: The UK government has announced that fully vaccinated travellers from countries considered “safe” will be able to take an antigen test within the first 48 hours of their arrival into England from 24 October, instead of a PCR test.
Antigen tests can be booked from 22 October, either through a private provider, or in test centres at some airports in the UK.

EUROPE
Italian town selling its 250 houses at €1 each: Pratola Peligna is an Italian town located in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, and is very close to the popular Roccaraso and Pescasserol ski resorts. Just two hours from the capital of Rome, you can currently purchase one of 250 houses in the town for just €1.
The authorities of Abruzzo started this program to encourage the arrival of new residents to the most unpopulated areas of Italy. Even if you did manage to acquire one of the houses for a euro, there is still the fact that the houses are in poor condition. As a new owner of one of these properties, you have to agree to renovate it, so of course, it will be necessary to have some savings for that. Protests greet debut of Italy’s workplace COVID pass rule: Protests erupted in Italy on Friday as one of the most stringent anti-coronavirus measures in Europe went into effect, requiring all workers, from magistrates to maids, to show a health pass to get into their place of employment.
Police were out in force, some schools ended classes early and embassies issued warnings of possible violence amid concerns that the anti-vaccination demonstrations could turn violent, as they did in Rome last weekend. AllBlock Ad-Blocking Chrome Extension Caught Injecting Ads in Google Search Pages: Note this says AllBlock not AdBlock.
The findings come following the discovery of rogue domains distributing an ad injection script in late August 2021 that the researchers connected to an add-on called AllBlock. The extension has since been pulled from both the Chrome Web Store and Opera add-ons marketplaces.
If you have AllBlock installed in your Chrome or Opera browser, uninstall it and run a full anti-virus scan. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/10/ad-blocking-chrome-extension-caught.html

El Puente Christian Fellowship is a loving, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ, who meet each Sunday at 11 am to worship The Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by one of the Elders or a visiting speaker.
The church meeting hall is situated underneath Maroma Inmobiliaria Puente Don Manuel, Cruce de Periana – 29713.

St George’s Church Málaga: We are part of the Church of England in Spain covering the area from Torremolinos in the west to the outskirts of Nerja in the east and to the northern edge of Malaga province.

Father Louis, our Chaplain, is available for counsel and support, regardless of anyone’s beliefs or background. We aspire to be a welcoming and inclusive community, open to all people seeking faith and friendship.
If you can’t get to church, we live-stream our Sunday services on Facebook, and also gather on Zoom for an informal service on Wednesday mornings.
