For Sale: Books. My husband John Hardy (15.9.34 – 11.4.21) started publishing his stories in 2013 and in total we published 10 books. I am selling these at a loss and would like to clear them all by the end of this year, so they are available at 2 for 5€ at the following places – and probably even cheaper as we get nearer to Christmas! I would like them all to be sold as I would rather they were enjoyed in his memory than stacked here in boxes. Thanks to all these kind friends below for helping me out by selling them for me.
There are short stories set in Spain, UK and worldwide, and 3 novels. Some are available in German and Spanish. They make an unusual Christmas gift for friends and family! Information on all the books is on his website www.johnhardybooks.com or you can email me or WhatsApp 636677270.
They are available at:
-La Raqueta Market Nerja Saturday 13th November
-Talleres Simon in Vélez-Málaga
-Michelle will have them at various Christmas markets including Trapiche on Tuesdays
-Second Time Around, Puente don Manuel
-Smiffs Nerja

Huge thanks to all these people for their cooperation, and to all of you who buy them. Wendy Foss. wendy.sedella@hotmail.com

Wanted transport: I would like to have a gas kiln for pottery picked up in Crevillent (close to Almería) some 4 hours away, and brought to Nerja. The dimensions are 188x80x80. The kiln will be put into a van in Crevillent with the help of a lifting platform. Nerja side there will be people to carry it out.
Is there anyone who has a van high enough who wants to do this job. No rush. Please contact julia.horzinek@gmail.com or WhatsApp 694448600. Julia, Nerja.

Carole’s Reading Nook: I have not read any new books this month, at least I haven’t finished any. Here’s three of my all time favourites. Thanks to the people who gave me recommendations but I cannot comment until I’ve read them.
-The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. A wonderful book written, that is narrated, by a dog, Enzo. Beware you will need tissues as it is very moving, but has a happy outcome if you can stick it out. A lovely, lovely novel.
-Spartacus by Howard Fast. This is the book on which the Kirk Douglas film was based, and though a great film for its time the book is quite different, and far, far superior to the Hollywood version. There is quite a bit of homosexuality, which went way over my head when I first read it, aged 14. Re-reading it now it becomes even more powerful, you really are transported to Ancient Rome. Spartacus is only referred to for most of the novel as he has been crucified before the story begins. This novel is a work of literature.
-French Fried by Chris Dolley. “One man’s move to France with too many animals and an identity thief”. I’ve read a lot of moving abroad books but this is the funniest of them all. Laugh out loud and I don’t say that lightly.
Happy reading, Carole, El Morche, carolemhartATyahooDOTcom

Spain’s Natural Gas Supply Cut- Algeria definitively closes the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline after the rupture of relations with Morocco: The Algerian Presidency have decided not to renew the contract for the use of the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline, which transports natural gas to Spain through Morocco, after the breakdown of diplomatic relations between the two African countries in late summer.
Algeria will continue to supply natural gas to Spain through the Mezgaz gas pipeline with cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by ship. Full article: https://spainsnews.com/algeria-definitively-closes-the-maghreb-europe-gas-pipeline-after-the-rupture-of-relations-with-morocco/

EUROPE

Luxembourg first in Europe to legalise growing and using cannabis in your home:
-Adults in Luxembourg will be permitted to grow up to four cannabis plants in their homes or gardens under laws that will make it the first country in Europe to legalise production and consumption of the drug.
-Government sources said the legislation was driven by a desire to liberalise consumption and cultivation “within one’s own four walls”.
-A legal prohibition of the consumption and transport of cannabis or cannabis products in public will be maintained and trade in cannabis or cannabis products other than seeds, whether free of charge or in return for payment, remains prohibited.
-Luxembourg will join Canada, Uruguay and 11 US states in flouting a UN convention on the control of narcotic drugs, which commits signatories to limit “exclusively for medical and scientific purposes the production, manufacture, export, import distribution, trade, employment and possession of drugs” including cannabis.
-In the Netherlands, possibly the European country most associated with a relaxed attitude toward the use of cannabis, its recreational use, possession and trade is technically illegal. It has a ‘tolerance policy’, or gedoogbeleid, under which recreational use is largely accepted within bounds.

Tennis News- Paris Masters- ‘I did not deserve to win,’ says Murray after wasting seven match points: Former world number one Andy Murray failed to convert seven match points but said he did not “deserve to win the match as I did not play well enough” after losing a three hour thriller to lucky loser Dominik Koepfer of Germany in the Paris Masters first round on Monday.
Murray, ranked 144, had been given a wild card but while the 34-year-old lacked killer instinct, he did show steely determination to battle back from a set and a break down to take the match to a third set before Koepfer won 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (11/9). Australians return home as borders reopen for first time during pandemic: After 18 months of some of the world’s strictest coronavirus border policies that banned citizens from either returning to the country or leaving it, unless granted an exemption, millions of Australians in Victoria, New South Wales and Canberra are now free to travel.
While the initial flights are limited to Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate families, it sets in motion a plan to reopen the country to international tourists and workers, both much needed to reinvigorate a fatigued nation. Ever See A Laptop With 2 Built In Screens?: Lenovo is working on the most bizarre dual-screen laptop concept you’ve ever seen: An image was leaked on Twitter, suggesting that Lenovo might be working on a brand-new laptop. The image shows a 17-inch Lenovo ThinkBook Plus with a smaller, secondary screen located on the right side of the keyboard. If the rumor is proven true, the laptop would certainly mark an innovative release for Lenovo.
Aside from the rumored ThinkBook Plus, @evleaks also shared images of several other gadgets, including another 2 screen laptop captioned “ROG TWS”, suggesting that it might be a new model of the Asus ROG line of laptops. This laptop also seems to feature a dual-screen setup of some sort, with a tilted secondary screen connecting the main display to the keyboard. It’s unclear whether this would be a touch display or simply an extension of the main screen.
