Feb.9 at 11am: Speakers: Jose Manuel & Norma – Power Point Presentation at the Bio Beach Restaurant in El Morche –Topic: La Desbandada and the sinking of the Delphin off Calaceite coast, Torrox, in Jan. 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. This presentation will mark its 85th anniversary. The Desbandada highlights the massacre on the A-340 on Feb. 8th, 1937 where innocent civilians fell victims to Franco’s allies. COVID-19

Andalusia registers 105 municipalities with the rate of Covid greater than 2,000, 54 less in a week: {Translation} 30Jan22 10:46
-More than 627,000 Andalusians live in the 105 municipalities with a Covid-19 coronavirus incidence rate of more than 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, led by Pedro Martínez (Granada), which has the highest rate in Andalusia with 6,414.8.
-This represents a notable decrease over the last week in the number of municipalities with a rate of more than 2,000 Covid cases, which translates into a large reduction in the overall population in this situation.
-In short, the community, which last week had 159 municipalities above the 2,000 rate, decreases by a third the total number of localities in this situation to 105.
-Almeria repeats for the third week as the province with the highest number of localities with more than 2,000 confirmed Covid cases in the last 14 days with 24 (18 less), followed by Huelva with 19 (two more); Granada with 18 (19 less); Cordoba with 18 (unchanged); Jaen with 17 (nine less); Malaga with three (six less); Cadiz with five (four more); and Seville with one (unchanged).
-The overall decrease at the regional level has meant that only one province has increased the number of municipalities with a rate of over 2,000 Covid cases in the last two weeks – Huelva – while the rest have reduced it.
-In Granada the 18 localities with more than 2,000 cases of Covid in the past 14 days: Albondón (2.387,6), Aldeire (2.381), Beas de Guadix (2.735,6), Benamaurel (2.522,1), The Calahorra (2.245,5), Decimate (2.356), Ferreira (3.322,3), Guadix (2.115,4), Huéscar (2.557,3), Marchal (3,140 Pesos,1), Morelábor (2.097,9), Orce (2.109,7), Pedro Martinez (6.414,8), Polícar (3.041,8), Purullena (2.732), Beas de Granada (2.142,9), Ventas de Huelma (2.283,1) and Zagra (2.598,9).
-In Malaga there are three locations with rates of over 2,000 cases of Covid: Benamocarra (2.527,9), Canete la Real (2.020,8) and the Fuente de Piedra (2.554,5). SPAIN

Crackdown On Pirate TV In Spain, Year 1 Results- Spanish ISPs Blocked 869 Domains & Subdomains in 2021 To Prevent Piracy:
Following the signing voluntary code of conduct between rightsholders and internet service providers in Spain, the government is now reporting on the first year’s results. Overall, the vast majority of providers took action to render 869 domains and subdomains (apps & websites) inaccessible to subscribers, with the aim of preventing illegal access to millions of movies, TV shows, videogames and ebooks.
After well over a decade of rightsholders using the legal system to compel ISPs to block sites on copyright infringement grounds with little success, thousands of domains are now being blocked by national internet service providers.

AXARQUIA

The La Viñuela reservoir is at 15% of its capacity with just 26 cubic hectometers of water accumulated: {Translation, summary} 29Jan22
-The emergency works due to the drought have not yet prevented the level from continuing to fall.
-The reservoir of La Viñuela holds a total of 25.82 cubic hectometres on this Saturday 29 January 2022, compared to 26.28 cubic hectometres a week ago and 51.70 cubic hectometres a year ago.
-It is still not raining and the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) indicate that it will not rain in the next few days either. There is the added circumstance that the reservoir of La Viñuela is the one that has collected the least rainwater during the current hydrological year (it began on 1 October 2021) of all those in the province of Málaga, barely 30.60 millimetres. The situation in the reservoir continues to be one of exceptional drought. ANDALUCIA

Andalusia opens from Monday vaccination with third doses for adults of 25 years, and progressing down to 18 years: {Translation, summary} 30Jan22
-This Monday, the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) is opening up the auto-delivery of the Covid-19 booster dose to people born after 1997, i.e. those who are 25 years old or about to turn 25 years old. During the week, the age range will be progressively extended to 18 years of age, thus completing the option of receiving this dose for the entire population covered by the strategy.
-It is worth remembering that since Monday 24 January, people born between 1985 and 1992 have been eligible for the booster dose.
-The booster dose is indicated if five months have passed since the second dose of messenger RNA (Pfizer or Moderna). In addition, three months after the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine and three months after vaccination with Janssen. From 65 years of age onwards, the four-week waiting period is not necessary, simply that the person is well and out of isolation. In the booster dose, messenger RNA vaccines will be administered regardless of the first schedule.
-As for the walk-in vaccination points, people born in 1997 or earlier who are pending a booster dose, those who received a dose from Janssen or the AstraZeneca regimen, as well as people aged 12 years or older who have yet to start the vaccination process with the first dose or are awaiting the second dose, will be able to attend. As the appointment years open up, walk-ins will also be available. Source, Spanish:

MALAGA

Malaga city’s first skyscrapers climb high: The Malaga of the tower blocks, the skyscrapers included in the Urban Plan a decade ago, is starting to materialise. The buildings which will change the city skyline forever, are heading towards the clouds without many local people realising just how high they are going to be. One of the two which the developer AQ Acentor is building on the site of the old Sunday market in Martiricos will be 20 metres higher than the tower of the cathedral.
-These two skyscapers, located just north of the city centre, will have 29 floors above the ground floor. The one to the south will have commercial premises at street level and 252 apartments for sale, and the other will have a 315-room hotel from the 1st to 13th floors and 198 rental apartments from there to the 29th. Those on the top floor will be 111.53 metres above the ground.
-The aim of AQ Acentor is to have the structure of both skyscrapers finished by the final quarter of this year, and for the apartments in the south tower ready for occupation in the second half of 2023.

“Ten-Four Good Buddy, Looks Like We Got Ourselves A Convoy!”- Canada truckers protest against COVID vaccine mandates blocks Ottawa for second day:
-Justin Trudeau was moved to a secret location as thousands in Canada protest COVID-19 vaccine mandates for truckers and other restrictions.
-After nearly a week of driving, Canadian truckers arrived at the nation’s capital this weekend. What began as a protest against vaccine mandates for truckers who travel over the US-Canada border evolved to include opposition to other measures.
-On Saturday, big rigs and people on foot filled the streets around Canada’s parliament as police monitored the crowds. The protests had remained peaceful as of Saturday evening, with no charges brought against any demonstrators, Ottawa police said.
-Trucks remained parked on the streets near parliament on Sunday morning, a day before lawmakers are due to resume work after the holiday break. Some truckers said they will not leave until the mandate is overturned.
-Similar protests were held in many Canadian cities this weekend
