Service Wanted: Searching for an Apple Genius/expert. If it happened through an update from Apple or it was me that placed copies of my music library on different locations I don’t know for sure but what I DO know is that since a short period of time my Mac cannot find a lot of tracks in my Itunes library. Not only annoying but also rare since there is no logic in it for me. Sometimes it’s recently bought material (AAC) from Apple or other companies, and sometimes it’s older .mp3 files which were in the library for years which cannot be played. I am searching for a technical Apple /computer person that could safely put all files on one location (preferably all converted to .mp3) and save a copy of them all. Preferably at our house in Torrox campo. Thanks, Ron / Torrox

Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.

Recommendations & Requests
Carole’s Book Nook: Here are some suggestions for this month, one modern fiction, one biography and one to make you laugh.
-The Sun Down Motel by Simone St James. This is a fascinating thriller, set in two different time periods. It also has the element of the supernatural. The Sun Down Motel is a run-down, haunted building where a girl disappeared and several years later her sister gets a job there hoping to unpick exactly what happened. The two stories running in parallel are not confusing as some “flashback” stories can be. This is something different, well written and hard to put down.
-A Bermondsey Boy by Tommy Steele. In general I avoid celebrity autobiographies for two reasons, one they are rarely written by the celebrity themselves, and the other is that they always descend into a snowfall of name dropping. This, one of the best I have ever read, does neither. Tommy Steele was once time famed as Britains’s first rock and roll star, but this book, very well written by Tommy himself, is more concerned with his happy childhood growing up in Bermondsey despite the war and the Blitz raging all around them. It proves that children, then, were more resourceful, were given greater responsibility and were generally happier for it. It only deals with his short pop career right at the end of the book. He did, of course go on to be a star of the musical theatre.
-Shave my Spider by Tony James Slater. I’ve read all of Tony’s travel books starting with “That Bear Ate My Pants” and I’ve enjoyed all of them but this is my favourite. This is travel as normal people know it, on a tight budget, experiencing bad hotels, food poisoning, language barriers and missed connections. Tony and his Australian wife Roo set out to “do” Asia visiting Cambodia, Vietnam, China etc. One of the most interesting countries was Mongolia. Tony always describes himself as a sort of dare devil crossed with an idiot which naturally leads to all kinds of funny adventures.

PO Box Service wanted: I need some advice please. I just learned that my PO Box Provider, BB4S in Algarrobo Costa, is going to discontinue their services on short notice. I have had a PO Box with the Spanish Correos before but they do not accept parcels e.g. from Amazon. So that would not be an alternative. Has anybody got an idea who offers PO Box services where letters and parcels can be sent to and who would then send me a short notice to pick up my mail? They should be in the area Arenas, Algarrobo, Caletta, Torre del Mar or Velez Malaga. I would be thankful for some ideas. Thanks, Christoph / Arenas

Covid Andalucia- Andalusia adds less than 5,000 Covid infections for the first time in a month and a half: {Translation} :01/02/2022 17:06
-Andalusia is still in the midst of the decline of the sixth wave of the pandemic. In fact, this Tuesday the region recorded 4,477 Covid positives, the lowest figure since 17 December, a month and a half ago. It is also the best Tuesday since the beginning of December.
-According to data from the Regional Ministry of Health and Families, Andalusia has also managed to break the floor of 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in its cumulative incidence. This has not happened since 25 December last year, more than a month ago. After one week, the evolution is also favourable and this Tuesday it stands at 350 points, 16 less than yesterday.
-In the health pressure there is a rise on Tuesday. This happens every Tuesday, when the weekend data is updated. Thus, the community adds 198 patients for Covid, a number that, although high, is the lowest for a Tuesday since more than a month ago, when the rise began due to the arrival of the omicron variant.the same logic applies in the case of the ICU. They are up (+10, to 250), but it is a more modest rise than last Tuesday, when they rose by 17.
-Where it is most evident that the sixth wave is in its downward phase is in the number of deaths. There are 53 on Monday, the highest figure since last Wednesday, when there were 64. It is more than half a hundred and, moreover, a rise in this value which is the last to fall when the wave begins its retreat. Once the number of ICUs has clearly dropped, it will be the turn of those who have died, something that may happen in the coming weeks. So far, the pandemic has left 12,180 dead in the community. Spain to Accept Only Negative Results of COVID-19 Antigen Tests Taken Within 24h, Instead of 48h:
-“As of today, February 1, and in line with Council Recommendation of January 25, 2022, …only negative results of antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2 infection obtained within 24 hours before arrival in Spain will be considered valid, and not 48 hours, as was the case until now,” the statement published by Spain’s government reads.
-At the same time, authorities in Spain have confirmed that the current rule according to which the PCR test results should not be older than 72 hours will continue to remain effective. “On the other hand, and as has been the case to date, certificates of diagnostic tests for an active COVID-19 infection with a negative result from molecular nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT), whose sample has been obtained within 72 hours before arrival in Spain, will continue to be considered as valid,” the statement clarifies. One Step Closer To New Socialist Sponsored Housing & Rent Control Laws Passing- The Government ignores the CGPJ (General Council of the Judiciary) and approves the radical new housing law, could take effect in under 18 months- Minister says, it’s time “to leave speculation behind”, criticises the “rentiers who live off rents and the investment funds that own homes”: {Translation, full article} 01/02/2022 17:32
-The General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has rejected the draft as an “expropriation of powers’ autonomy in this matter.
-The Government defies the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and maintains the form of the new housing law despite criticism from the judges’ governing body. This Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved the draft bill of the controversial regulation, which will allow the communities to control rental prices.
-The Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, praised the law, which she described as “historic”. “It is rigorous, solid, compact, cross-cutting and protects the social function of housing”, said Sánchez, who also explained that the government will process the draft bill as a matter of urgency to speed up its entry into force.
-Sánchez sent a direct message to the CGPJ by reminding them that their report “should be limited to three specific articles” of the law, those that modify the law on civil proceedings to toughen up evictions. (The PM telling the court how to do it’s job protecting the public from gov’t over-reach? Just like with the EU Recovery Funds, this PM does whatever he likes, legal or not, with public/judicial support or not, and leaves others to sort out his mess.)
-With regard to the accusations of the judiciary, which accuses the law of not respecting the competences of the autonomous communities, Sánchez assured that the bill already “recognises the competences of the communities in the area of housing and their capacity to apply other instruments”.
***Regional legislation***
-Sánchez also explained that the government has made a series of technical modifications to the law to “clarify why we understand that the state has exclusive powers to regulate housing”. References to regional legislation” will also be included, and cooperation between regions will be strengthened. (Since when is it the job of the executive branch to write law? That is for the legislature to do, as the court pointed out. Another over-reach by Socialist Sanchez!)
-The Transport Minister has also acknowledged that she does not yet have the necessary support to push the law through Parliament, and has extended her hand to the rest of the political parties to pass the law. Likewise, she has opened the door to speeding up the implementation of limits on renting so that it is not necessary to wait 18 months after the approval of the law, as is currently stipulated.
-The Minister for Social Rights, Ione Belarra, was tougher in her speech, stating that the housing law is the first step “to leave speculation behind”. “In recent years, the real estate sector has been the law of the jungle”, explained Belarra, who also criticised the rentiers who live off rents and the investment funds that own homes.
-Moreover, Belarra pointed out that the Spanish public housing stock is seven times smaller than that of France and assured that this new regulation will reverse this proportion.
-Editor’s Note: The current Socialist gov’t is attempting to ram this thru before they face another election they are forecast to lose.

Court rejects the extension of the covid passport in the Basque Country and its extension to hotels as its effectiveness is not justified: {Translation} Feb 1st, 2022
-The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country (TSJPV) has rejected the extension of the covid passport requirement until 13 February in all hotels, events, gyms, and for visits to hospitals, residences or prisons in the Basque Country, as the Basque Government has not justified its effectiveness in preventing contagion. Consequently, it also rejects its application in hotels, tourist accommodation and gambling and betting parlours, as the Executive had intended.
-The Basque high court indicates that the Executive should have “justified the effectiveness and necessity of the measure, with a greater effort to provide reasons than the one it has made by presenting a request almost identical to the previous ones, which ignores the new circumstances that have been accredited”.
“Having failed to do so, it must be understood that the request for judicial authorisation to extend the measure does not pass the triple test of proportionality, necessity and, fundamentally, suitability, as it does not justify precisely the effectiveness of the measure, as of today, in preventing or appreciably reducing contagion. Consequently, the requested measure cannot be authorised”, he assures. Recovery is slow for the Costa del Sol’s international tourism sector:
-However, rural houses and camping sites are doing better than ever thanks to the arrival of domestic tourists in Malaga province.
-2021 closed with 15.6 million overnight stays compared to almost 30 million in 2019, that amounts to 41 per cent less tourists and a 46 per cent fall in the number of nights booked.
-International tourism fell by 63 per cent in 2021 compared to 2019, or a loss over 13.3 overnight reservations.
-The number of Britons visiting the Costa del Sol dropped by 76 percent to 680,730 tourists in 2021, while the number of German tourists decreased by 55 per cent to just 353,000. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/recovery-slow-costa-20220201181352-nt.html

Marín says that money from EU Covid Relief funds has not yet arrived in Andalusia, claims Spain’s central gov’t to blame: {Translation}
-The vice-president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Marín, said on Tuesday that “no money has yet arrived” from the EU funds for recovery in this community and warned that “not even in Brussels do they trust” the management that the government of Pedro Sánchez is making of them.
-In statements to Canal Sur Radio (CSR), picked up by Europa Press, Marín pointed out that there is nothing more “dangerous than managing uncertainty, and that is what is happening with the funds, that nobody trusts the central government, not even in Brussels”.
-He warned that the central government is changing “criteria from one day to the next” and sometimes there are not even criteria, but rather “arbitrariness”, and in this way “it is not possible to work”.
-He also pointed out that the problem is not how much money comes to this community, but “under what conditions and for what purpose”.
-According to Marín, the European Commission has distributed these funds among the member states with very clear criteria, but in Spain, the President, Pedro Sánchez, and his Finance Minister, María Jesús Montero, “distribute them as they please, with arbitrary criteria”. Experts may have finally discovered the cause of mystery dog illness on Yorkshire beaches: Owners have been urged to keep their dogs away from Yorkshire coastlines after reports claim a mystery illness that is ‘spreading like wildfire’ has struck down around 150 pets with vomiting and diarrhoea. But now one expert has revealed what could be causing the illness. David McCreadie, a former senior lecturer in marine biology and oceanography, said that he believes dredging could be to blame after spotting a vessel dredging off Teesmouth last September.
Some of the towns where the mystery illnesses has been reported include Scarborough, Whitby, Saltburn and Seaton Sluice on North Tyneside.

Whoopie Cushion Fail- Another Wacko Lefty Forced To Apologize- Whoopi Goldberg apologizes for saying Holocaust ‘isn’t about race’: In the original discussion, Goldberg said: “Let’s be truthful, the Holocaust isn’t about race, it’s not. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man, that’s what it’s about. These are two groups of white people.”
-StopAntisemitism.org said Goldberg’s comments had “minimised” the trauma and suffering caused by the atrocity. “Newsflash Whoopi Goldberg, 6 million of us were gassed, starved and massacred because we were deemed an inferior race by the Nazis,” the organisation wrote. “How dare you minimize our trauma and suffering!”
-In a statement posted on Twitter, Goldberg said: “On today’s show I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man’. I should have said it is about both. “As Jonathan Greenblatt from of the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people, who they deemed to be an inferior race’. I stand corrected. “Written with my sincerest apologies. Canada Covid Protest Update: Politicians at all levels of government are urging protesters who have seized the nation’s capital to roll out, as organizers prepare to stick around even longer by distributing fuel and supplies to the trucks clogging up Ottawa streets.
-The blockade had appeared smaller on Tuesday than it had been over the weekend, but The Canadian Press previously reported that vehicle headlights were as far as the eye could see, despite the -20 degree Celsius weather.
-But Ottawa remains at a standstill, as trucks and big rigs remain along major roads in the downtown core and many businesses have remained closed since Friday over safety concerns.
-Those that remain say they are staying put until all the restrictions are lifted, with the president of the Ottawa Gatineau Hotel Association saying some protesters have been extending their stays at hotels, or are asking to rebook for the coming weekend.
-Canada’s Quebec province announced Tuesday it was scrapping plans for a health tax on those who are not vaccinated against Covid-19, following a public backlash over the proposal.
