Recommendations & Requests
Buses and Mobiles: I caught the bus yesterday hoping for a free ride. I already have a bus pass and I’m hoping I don’t have to get a different one. They are charging everybody (as far as I could tell) 50 cents per trip. Bus Passes don’t count, we all paid 50c. I have saved 10c ! I don’t see why they have to make it so difficult. If they are prepared to make it free, make it free to all. They would save all the admin and money handling, the buses could keep to time. So what if the odd visitor gets a free ride? That’s good tourist publicity. I decided to ask at the town hall but there was a queue stretching out into the street of people clutching paperwork. After a bus pass? Probably.
As for Birgit’s comments earlier in the week about everybody expecting you to have a smartphone. I agree with her entirely. Why are people such sheep these days? They follow each other like lemmings grasping at every new tech gadget. It is becoming increasingly difficult to avoid having one and I suppose I will have to give in eventually. Latest obstacle, I was in a new hotel in Malaga and I needed a smartphone to access TV channels. I tried to buy something online (I avoid this if I can) and they wanted me to tap my screen when my screen does not tap. Just because technology exists you should not be forced to use it, and then to update it at your own expense. Just watch what happens with Windows 11.

Vélez-Málaga Jazz Concert Series: {Translation}
-For the eighth consecutive year, the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo ‘Francisco Hernández’ in Vélez-Málaga presents its series of jazz concerts, which, thanks to the great artists who have performed at the CAC in recent years, have become a benchmark for this musical discipline throughout the province, attracting a multitude of visitors.
-The Jazz concert series will begin on 23 March with a performance by Eva Jiménez Quartet, a jazz singer, pianist and composer who stands out for her musicality and sensitivity. Throughout her career she has performed at important festivals, theatres and halls all over Europe and the United States. On 29 April, the group Zirwicky will perform, a quartet that mixes elements of contemporary music and free improvisation, and through these languages they search for a greater capacity for expression that they transmit to the audience. On 20 May, the cultural space will host a concert by the Juan María Villa Trio, who, together with a double bass and a drummer, will surprise the audience with their music. To end this Jazz series, on 3rd June, the concert by Raquel Pelayo Quartet will be held, a young woman gifted with extraordinary expressiveness and communicative sensitivity, who together with musicians of great trajectory, will not leave the audience indifferent.
-All the performances are free of charge and until full capacity is reached. All of them will take place at 19.00 hours, except for the Raquel Pelayo Quartet concert on 3rd June, which will take place at 20.00 hours. Ukraine’s Zelensky rages at Nato for leaving his countrymen ‘alone’ to fight Russia: Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky has raged at Western cowards after his country was ‘left alone’ to face Russian troops as officials warn that Kyiv will be seized this weekend.
