Correcting flawed submissions: I only make corrections if received by the 6pm deadline the day the incorrect post is published. This is so it can be fixed in the following issue from when it appeared. People posting For Sale items should check their posts in new daily issues for accuracy. If you send an incorrect submission, or you forget to include the photos, please send in a new, full corrected submission and ask me to ignore the previous, incorrect submission. I am too busy to keep track of partial submissions in different emails and patch them together. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Spain reports first weekend fall in coronavirus cases, but sets new record for fatalities: According to the Health Ministry’s report, released Monday night, 52,386 new infections were detected since Friday – a figure that covers the weekend, given that no data is released on Saturdays and Sundays. The last time a fall was recorded over this period was October 5. The number of Covid-19 related deaths, however, broke a new record. Since Friday, 512 fatalities have been added to the official toll, the largest weekend figure of Spain’s second wave. EU Commission backs Spain’s protocol against disinformation campaigns by supporting Internet censorship: The European executive’s nod to the Spanish system to prevent, detect and respond to disinformation campaigns comes after some opposition parties in Spain had accused the government of creating a “Ministry of Truth” that would allegedly make decisions on content and provide media outlets with guidelines to follow. EU moves closer to encryption ban after Austria, France attacks: A draft resolution setting up an EU-wide ban on end-to-end encryption by web platforms and messenger apps such as Signal and WhatsApp is set to be waved through this week.
ProPrivacy’s Ray Walsh described the move as a massive threat to data privacy and a disappointing change given that the EU has previously been, by and large, in favour of privacy for European citizens.
“Robust encryption relies on the secure transmission of data between two parties using keys that are only known to them,” said Walsh. “Removing strong end-to-end encryption creates vulnerabilities that can be exploited not just by EU government agencies, but also by anybody – including hackers, cyber criminals and state-sanctioned operatives from foreign governments – with the technical ability to discover that purposefully created backdoor.” Full story: https://www.computerweekly.com/news/252491755/EU-moves-closer-to-encryption-ban-after-Austria-France-attacks
Curfew Could Have Been Longer? Ministry denied Junta earlier curfew: Andalucian Regional Government, Junta de Andalucia, had initially proposed a curfew earlier than 10pm, the Regional Councillor for Health and Families, Jesus Aguirre has said, but it was not authorised by the Ministry of Health. He confirmed that the Junta had proposed an earlier curfew, taking into account that from this Tuesday, November 10 at 6pm non-essential activity will close. The response from the central government was negative. The current situation gives regions freedom to lift or modify curfew, although any decision must be communicated to the Ministry of Health for approval, and it must be in place for at least seven days. WhatsApp shopping button allows you to purchase products from chat: The tool will make it easier for people to discover a business’ catalog so they know what goods or services it offers.
Previously, people had to click into the business’ profile to see if the business had a catalog. “Now, when a person sees the shopping button, which looks like a storefront icon, they will immediately know the business has a catalog so they can browse products and start a conversation about an item they see with just one tap,” the company said in a statement.
This will also make it easier for businesses to have their products discovered which can help increase sales.
The new shopping button is available now across the world and will replace the voice call button. To find the voice call button, simply tap on the call button to select either a voice or video call.
“In the future, we’ll make it possible to add items to a cart and check out, all within WhatsApp,” the company said last month. Full story: https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/whatsapp-shopping-button-allows-you-to-purchase-products-from-chat/articleshow/79144847.cms
Malaga city suspends 2021 Three Wise Men parade: The traditional ‘Cabalgata Reyes Magos’ was due to take place on January 5, 2021.
The decision has been made in light of the evolution of the pandemic, “as it is a public act that would generate incompatible crowds with current regulations and the recommendations of the health authorities”, said the Consistory today, Tuesday, November 10, in a statement. Fakebook scam that misleads you with a fake Xbox Series X giveaway: The scam in question has been spreading in Spain in recent days through ads shown to users of Facebook, as Avast has reported.
This fraudulent campaign promises to raffle 5,000 units of the Xbox Series X console among users who answer a survey of five questions related to video games. After completing the short questionnaire, a congratulatory message is displayed. It should be noted that everyone who completes the survey receives a message that they have been awarded regardless of the answers they have selected.
Then to collect the prize, scammers ask participant to share the promotion with five WhatsApp contacts. They can then select their prize, which is supposedly delivered within 24 hours.
Avast has recommended keeping an eye out for signs of scam and not relying on promotions that seem too good to be true, and has in fact warned that scammers themselves are already preparing for their next scam: the launch of the new PlayStation5 on November 19, with a similar campaign.
