Solidarity Concert in the Church of El Salvador Nerja: “More than 140 families in a situation of request for help due to serious economic difficulties due to business closures due to CORONAVIRUS”
Reading this news deeply moved us and made us take out and clean our tools – art and culture – stored since March, and get ‘down to work’.
The orchestral project “Málaga Camerata” arises from the concern of young musicians to create a space where they can enhance their aspects as ensemble instrumentalists, within an orderly and professional work environment.
Since its foundation, it has been made up of a stable staff of about 20 members. The number is due precisely to the fact that there is a special interest in reproducing classicism and pre-romantic music, with the greatest possible similarity in terms of training.
We know that we cannot help everyone; But we can get 20 of these families to celebrate Christmas this year as well. It is a challenge and it is possible, with your help 20 families can!
Day and hour: December 20 – 1’30pm
Place: Iglesia de El Salvador – Nerja
Address: Paseo de El Balcón de Europa
Donation: 25’00€

Recommendations & Requests

Firewood supplier in Torrox: With a cold weekend forecast and dwindling firewood, is there anywhere in Torrox that sells good quality olive wood (not root). We usually pick up wood as we need it from Velez Malaga, but with the restrictions cannot get there and cannot find a local supplier where we can collect a couple of barrowloads (local yards seem to only want to sell root which doesn’t burn on our fire). I’m presuming that collecting leña is not a ‘justified reason’ to leave our municipality. Thanks!

Andalusia continues to decline in infection rates in a day with 80 deaths: {Translated from https://sevilla.abc.es} Updated:01/12/2020 14:03h
Andalusia keeps low the curve of infections to add this Tuesday only 790 new cases of coronavirus across the region. The negative point is the ongoing high mortality in the aftermath of the second wave. In 24 hours the community has added to 80 deaths per Covid-19.
The decrease of the infection helps to lower the incidence rate of 14 days to 293,5 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants. Malaga (199), Sevilla (238) and Cordoba (250) mark the lowest rates. Jaén passes today to be the province with the highest rate of incidence in past 14 days ( 392) beating Granada that reduced it to 390 cases and that this Tuesday has only added 60 cases.
It is very illustrative that the province of Granada, subject to greater restrictions because of its high incidence in the last three weeks is now one of the best results in the past 7 days. With 116 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants it is below the level of extreme risk (125) as already reached in Cordoba (102), Malaga (81) and Seville (68).
However concerned about the tendency in the province of Cadiz, which, with 148 cases mark the highest rate of incidence to seven days, and that sum this Tuesday 188 cases, the largest log after the 190 new cases of Seville in the last 24 hours. Nor is it a positive evolution of the rate at 7 days of Huelva (139 cases), although the province is the least positive records today, with 39 infections.
In terms of hospitalizations, this Tuesday registered an increase of 25 patients. The total number stood at 2.099 patients from the that 419, three less than the Monday, are critical cared for in Intensive Care Units. Alhambra “reopens” for the second time this 2020″: The Alhambra, historically the most visited monument in Spain and one of its tourist icons, has reopened this Tuesday for the second time in 2020 after the improvement in rate of coronavirus infections in Granada have allowed relax the severe restrictions imposed.
An exceptional ringing of the bell of the well-known Torre de la Vela has announced the “good news” to the city early this morning, as happened on June 17, when the Nasrid enclosure again allowed visits after three months of closure prolonging due to the first confinement of the pandemic.
Although with a capacity limited to 65 percent, about 4,200 tickets per day available and maintaining its winter daytime hours between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., the Alhambra faces this ‘new return’ in a special way because it can only be visited at the moment by residents and residents of Granada capital when the perimeter closure in all the municipalities of Andalusia.
