May we take this opportunity to thank all of our visitors for their continued support during this unsettled year, and to wish all of our stall holders, visitors and customers, a very safe Christmas and a settled New Year.

DoctorLaptop’s Laptop Tuneup Special: Now until the new year, a full maintenance service for only €50.
If you rely on your laptop for school, shopping or communications and want it running at peak performance, an annual professional servicing is necessary. This is especially true in these current times where people have their laptops on all day. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? If you did, the repair would be far more than the cost of the oil change you neglected. Same thing with computers, and laptops in particular.
I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: After an internal cleaning I verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware removal protocol, update Windows+all drivers+programs, and finally optimize your settings for fastest overall performance. I use a special on-line scanner that will detect and remove malware that normal anti-virus programs cannot detect!
Job usually completed overnight. If you have multiple hard drives, or the hard drive is 1Tb or larger add €20.
Heavily infected comps or those showing error messages need a repair, not this maintenance service.

Spanish regions announce new coronavirus measures for Christmas season: Valencia to keep borders sealed until January 15, while the Canary Islands will let visitors enter with an antigen test instead of a PCR. In Catalonia the current restrictions will be maintained. Andalusian officials announced that existing restrictions on mobility and social gatherings will remain in place until December 12, at which time a new announcement will be made regarding new measures “to keep the situation under control during Christmas.” Full article: https://english.elpais.com/spanish_news/2020-12-09/spanish-regions-announce-new-coronavirus-measures-for-christmas-season.html

UK warns people with serious allergies to avoid Pfizer vaccine after two adverse reactions: Pfizer has said people with a history of severe adverse allergic reactions to vaccines or the candidate’s ingredients were excluded from their late stage trials, which is reflected in the MHRA’s emergency approval protocol.
The new MHRA guidance, sent out to health professionals, said a much broader segment should not take the vaccine.
“Any person with a history of a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food (such as previous history of anaphylactoid reaction or those who have been advised to carry an adrenaline autoinjector) should not receive the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine,” it said.
It also said resuscitation facilities should be available for all vaccinations. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/article/health-coronavirus-britain-vaccine/uk-warns-people-with-serious-allergies-to-avoid-pfizer-vaccine-after-two-adverse-reactions-idUSKBN28J1D1

Police in Malaga warn about rise in fake IT technician fraudsters:
At first, they say that they are from a reputable international company, offering to fix problems and install antivirus software.
Once the victim gives permission for remote access and makes a payment, the criminals then access passwords and other sensitive data.
Police recommend not to trust any call of this nature. If, however, you fall victim to such a scam, they say you should contact your bank and cancel all payments.
(Legit big tech companies like Microsoft/Apple/Google will never call you without you having contacted them first. If you get a call like this, just hang up. If you fall for the scam and allow them remote access, your computer has very likely been infected. Stop using it, and get it to DoctorLaptop (tel 675 993 069) for disinfection. -Ed.) Reference:

Amazon UK Info For Spanish Customers Post BREXIT: I received this today and thought I’d share it with the readers. -Ed.
As you have placed an order on Amazon.co.uk and selected an EU delivery address in the past, we wanted to let you know that from 1 January 2021, when the Brexit transition period ends, you’ll see some changes when you shop on Amazon.co.uk and select an EU delivery address. These changes could include:
– VAT (or the regional equivalent, if applicable, https://www.amazon.co.uk/vatrates) being due in the country of delivery, or your package may be subject to customs duties, taxes and fees (“Import Fees”)
– the collection of VAT, or an estimation of Import Fees (“Import Fee Deposit” https://www.amazon.co.uk/ifd), which may result in a price change at checkout.
We will continue to accept eligible returns. If the reason for return is the result of an error (e.g. if the item is defective / damaged / incorrect), any costs incurred for the return will be paid by Amazon. Otherwise, any costs incurred for the return (including transport costs, as well as any associated import fees or customs where applicable) will be payable by the person returning the goods
We hope this helps and we see you again soon.

UK-EU agree trusted trader scheme for Northern Ireland – RTE: Britain and the European Union have agreed a trusted trader scheme to operate on the border of Northern Ireland that will ease the movement of goods after Jan. 1, Ireland’s state broadcaster RTE said on Wednesday.

Spanish IPTV streaming giant Movidy has closed itself down with immediate effect: The platform was one of Spain’s most-visited sites, period, but following a sad medical diagnosis in the summer, the owner says he is now too ill to continue. Venice Flooded as Multi-Billion Dam System Fails to Activate:
The Italian lagoon city saw waters rise to 1.37 metres (4.5 ft), causing floods on its central St Mark’s Square which lies a metre below sea level. Water poured into the iconic basilica, and Venetians were forced to don their familiar rubber boots to wade into the rising water, known locally as ‘acqua alta’.
Shopkeepers erected wooden panels over their doorways to prevent damage to their wares, similar to scenes in November 2019 when Venice hit its highest flood levels since record began. An eclipse, a superconjunction and a meteor shower to end the year: The last month of the pandemic year for coronavirus will offer astronomically an eclipse of the Sun, a superconjunction of planets and the last meteor shower of 2020, the Geminids, has indicated this Wednesday the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC).
The peak of the Geminid rain will occur during the nights of December 12 and 13, while in the dawn of the 14th this month in the territories of Chile and Argentina a total solar eclipse of about 2 minutes will be observed, and seven days later Jupiter and Saturn will be at the minimum distance between them.
