Phoenix Club:
Our social club is open for coffee, cake and a chat but due to restrictions, all our trips are on hold until further notice. The terrace is open with 6 to a table and inside, it is limited to 4 per table.
-We are collecting foodstuffs for the Spanish Red Cross on a weekly basis, so if you can add a couple of items to your weekly shop and bring it down to us, it would be very much appreciated. They really need baby food, nappies and foodstuffs such as rice, flour and pasta.
-We are selling off all our books and DVDs at 4 for €1 and we have had new stocks in, from Wilbur Smith, Andy McNab to Stephen Leather, plenty of choice for gentlemen readers. We also have jigsaws for sale at €1 each. Come along and pick up a bargain on any Tuesday
-Our greetings cards are for sale on the first Tuesday of every month, all handmade so if you are looking for a beautiful handmade card, pop along and have a look.
-Please remember to sanitise your hands on coming in and sign in. Signing in is just a precaution in case I need to contact you. It is mandatory to wear a mask.
-We meet at La Vega bar and restaurant every Tuesday and you can find the bar just behind the Repsol garage on the way out of Torre towards Benajarafe. We are now open from 11.30 – 1pm.

Hospital admissions in Andalusia fall for the second consecutive day, but number of serious patients rise: {Translated in full} Updated 11/04/2021, 21:01
-Andalusia recorded this Sunday, April 11, 1,333 hospitalized coronavirus, 22 less than the day before, which is a drop for the second day in a row after eight days up, although the region has 176 more than last Sunday, and has 299 patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), seven more than Saturday and 20 more than seven days ago.
-This has been announced by the Junta de Andalucía in a graph posted on Twitter, data that are partially better than last Sunday, when hospitalized patients rose by 67 and ICU patients by four. However, the region is close to 300 ICU patients 30 days after leaving that threshold behind, when on Saturday, March 13, it went from 308 to 286. The number of patients admitted to the ICU fell by 17 on Saturday, rose by 32 on Friday, six on Thursday, 34 on Wednesday, 82 on Tuesday (the largest increase since February 2), 61 on Monday and 67 last Sunday.
For their part, ICU patients are up after remaining unchanged on Saturday, increasing by four on Friday, dropping by three on Thursday, rising by seven on Wednesday, two on Tuesday, three on Monday and four last Sunday.
-The region is still far from the peaks of hospitalizations recorded in the third wave on February 2 (4,980), in the second on November 10 (3,478) and in the first on March 30, 2020 (2,708).
-Regarding ICUs, Andalusia remains below the peak of the third wave reached on February 7 (735), of the second on November 18 (528) and of the first on March 30, 2020 (439). -The new school curriculum from the Ministry of Education designates everything that students, without exception, must learn at the end of their basic studies, a document that is being agreed with the regional governments and the educational community.
-Described below from A to Z the main points on which it is intended to sustain the new school learning model.

C for competencies: It is one of the cornerstones of what will be the minimum teachings for Primary and Secondary. The objective is that what is learned in the classroom can be related, associated, understood and applied later to solve real life problems. The competences are classified in linguistics; multilingual; science and mathematics; digital; personal, social and learning to learn; citizen; enterprising and in cultural awareness and expression.
O for objectives: one of the main objectives is to leave behind the traditional encyclopedic vision of knowledge and move on to a deepening of it. In short, to ensure what is learned is solid.

Confirmed- Google Ads are rigged to favor Google’s own ads & Fakebook ads over other advertisers: Who gets which Google Ads spaces is determined by auction. These auctions were claimed to be fair and honest, offering all advertisers equal standing to place bids. Google for years has operated a secret program that used data from past bids in the company’s digital advertising exchange to allegedly give its own ad-buying system an advantage over competitors, that harmed both ad-industry competitors and publishers, according to court documents filed in a Texas antitrust lawsuit.
The program, known as “Project Bernanke,” wasn’t disclosed to publishers who sold ads through Google’s ad-buying systems. It generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the company annually, the documents show. In its lawsuit, Texas alleges that the project gave Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc., an unfair competitive advantage over rivals.
