COVID-19

Andalusia recorded the worst Wednesday since April in terms of Covid figures with 1.324 infections and 21 deaths: {Translation} Updated: 30/06/2021, 16:23
-A disastrous Wednesday for the Covid statistic undermines expectations of a better evolution of the pandemic. In the last 24 hours, Andalusia added 1,324 new infections and 21 deaths due to the coronavirus, figures that bring us back to the statistics at the end of April, according to data published by the Portal of the Statistics Service of the Andalusian Regional Government.
-The 14-day incidence rate is only eight tenths of a point lower than on Tuesday and remains at 163 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants. Seville and Huelva, unlike the rest of the provinces, continue with a positive evolution of infections. However, the 7-day rate has risen in practically all provinces.
-The best data of the day is the drop, after two days, in the number of Covid patients admitted to 31 admissions. However, the number of hospitalised patients has not managed to fall below half a thousand. This Wednesday there are 521 patients in hospital, 125 of whom are in the ICU, a figure that remains unchanged from the previous day. Covid Malaga- June ends with another Covid spike in Malaga- 317 cases and three deaths: {Translation} Updated: 30 June, 2021, 14:24
-With no sign of abating, the coronavirus infection curve in Malaga continues to rise. This Wednesday the number of positive cases has risen again to over 300. The province has exactly 317 cases, which is a new increase compared to the previous day when 272 were registered (45 more). There have also been three deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours and 331 people have been cured.
-The 317 positives reported by the Regional Ministry of Health and Families on Wednesday is the third highest figure for June, only surpassed by those recorded on the 24th, when there were 489, and on Saturday 26th, with 350. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic 106,657 people have been infected with Covid in Malaga, of whom 1,674 have lost their lives. The three fatalities on this latest day bring the number of deaths in June to 29, six more than in May.
-The rise in the number of infections is not allowing the rate to let up. The incidence in the province has increased for another day and stands at 173.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, almost two points more than the day before and 15 points higher than last Friday. In the capital the situation is the same: it has risen by 1.3 points to 176.8, according to data from the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA).
-The situation, therefore, continues to be one of high risk of the spread of Covid throughout the province. Only two health districts (Axarquia and Serrania de Ronda) are at medium risk, with rates below 150 cases.
-The worsening of the rate in recent weeks is attributed to the increase in the number of infections among the youngest people, who have not yet been vaccinated. This is especially true for the 15-29 age group, an age group that now accounts for 40% of the new cases detected in Malaga. The incidence among these adolescents and young people is 428.3, which would place them at extreme risk. The data make it clear: of the 2,929 cases in the province in the last two weeks, 1,134 were under 15 to 29 years of age. Another 919 were under the age of 45.
-The younger age of those infected is what allows for a certain stability in the pressure of care to be maintained. According to data from the Junta, there are currently 79 people admitted to hospital with coronavirus, compared to 82 the day before. At the same time, there have been 10 admissions to the ward and two admissions to the Intensive Care Units (ICU), where 14 patients are bedridden in a more serious condition.
-The number of cured patients has risen to 331 in the last few hours. It is good news that, after weeks, they have returned to being above the number of new infections, although the difference is slight. Thus, since the beginning of the pandemic, 102,409 people have been cured of the disease. These figures are higher than those of the same day last week, when 4,341 positives were recorded.
Meanwhile, the national cumulative incidence rate in the last 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 117.17, compared to 106.82 the day before.
Also, 46 new deaths were added to this Wednesday’s report, compared to 29 last Wednesday. In the last week, 61 people with a confirmed positive Covid-19 diagnosis have died in Spain. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/national/202106/30/ministry-health-adds-almost-20210630185730.html

Coronavirus incidence rate among young Spaniards rises to twice the national average: Since June 22, around 600 people under the age of 30 have been admitted into intensive care with Covid-19 and 80 have died.
The mass outbreak linked to students returning from vacation in Mallorca, which has led to more than 1,000 infections, is just the tip of the iceberg. Fernando Simón, the director of the Health Ministry’s Coordination Center for Health Alerts (CCAES), said on Monday that the outbreak represents just “2.5% of cases in the last 14 days and 5% of cases in the last seven days.” There are many other outbreaks, although on a smaller scale. Sevilla students in second Covid macro outbreak after Algarve trips: A second macro outbreak of Covid linked this time to an end-of-year trip to Portugal’s Algarve region, has resulted in 10 Sevilla students becoming infected with the virus, with 44 young people being monitored by the Ministry of Health and Families. When one of the young people began to feel unwell at the end of the weekend, the news spread like wildfire among his friends, causing them to all return quickly to Sevilla, some collected by their parents, others renting a bus. Now, the result is one in four of the students who travelled has tested positive for the virus. EU citizens in UK who miss Settlement Scheme deadline won’t lose all their rights overnight: Today marks the deadline for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens to apply for permission to carry on living in the UK via the government’s EU Settlement Scheme.
People who miss the deadline will not automatically lose all their rights or be deported, although they will be at risk of enforcement by the Home Office.
After the deadline lapses tonight, EU citizens with no status who come into contact with the authorities will be given a written notice giving them an opportunity to apply, normally within 28 days. People have to give “reasonable grounds” for missing the deadline. EUROPE

The EU’s new coronavirus ‘passport’ comes into effect on 1 July: The free Digital Green Certificate or Covid ‘passport’ – as it is popularly known – is the tool with which Europe in general and Spain, in particular, intend to reactivate international tourism this summer.
It is a document agreed and issued by the 27 EU countries that certifies that the tourist is not infected with coronavirus and it is and hoped that it will, little by little, help return the numbers of travellers to pre-pandemic figures. How does the new EU Covid certificate work and how do I get one?: The certificates will be free and come in both English and the national language where they are distributed. It’s worth noting that the Covid certificates are not compulsory for travel within the EU, but those who travel without it will likely be subject to whatever requirements are in place around testing and quarantine. The proposed “Digital Euro” is not a cryptocurrency: The European Central Bank has in mind the creation of digital euro, a coin in electronic format, issued by the Eurosystem (ECB and national central banks) that all citizens of the European Union can use. The plan is for it to be a complement to cash and that it does not replace it, so that there is an alternative payment method.
What the ECB emphasizes is that the digital euro it wouldn’t work like a cryptocurrency, since this modality is not the responsibility of the central bank. The main reason they do not use the cryptocurrency model is because of the sudden change in crypto prices, which makes their payment method difficult, in addition to not being endorsed by any public institution. Bill Cosby “Uncancelled”- freed from prison, his sex conviction overturned:
Pennsylvania’s highest court threw out Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction and released him from prison Wednesday in a stunning reversal of fortune for the comedian once known as “America’s Dad,” ruling that the prosecutor who brought the case was bound by his predecessor’s agreement not to charge Cosby.
Cosby, 83, flashed the V-for-victory sign to a helicopter overhead as he trudged into his suburban Philadelphia home after serving nearly three years of a three- to 10-year sentence. Yes, There’s a Guinness World Record for Stacking M&M’s and This Man Shattered It: Solihull, England man Will Cutbill set a new record for the tallest stack of M&M’s by carefully placing five of the candies on top of each other.
That’s right, five stacked M&M’s were enough to break the previous record of four stacked M&M’s. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, he was prompted to attempt it because he didn’t have anything else to do during England’s third pandemic-related lockdown. “I was in the living room, eating a bag of M&M’s and I was incredibly bored and I just decided to see how many of them I could stack on top of each other,” he admitted to BirminghamLive. “I started thinking, I wonder if there’s a world record for this, so I looked it up online and found out the most anyone had ever stacked was four.” Full article: https://www.foodandwine.com/news/m-and-m-candy-stacking-world-record
