Putting the washing machine costs twice as much as a year ago: {Translation summary, English version with more info linked}
-The wholesale price of electricity continues to go through the roof and without reaching a ceiling in the heat of the heat wave.
-The price of electricity will stand at 115.83 euros per megawatt hour tomorrow Thursday, thus setting a record for the fourth consecutive day.
-This increase in the price of energy on the wholesale or pool market has a direct effect on the consumer’s pocket. Running the washing machine for an hour today will cost 50 euro cents during peak hours, 29 cents per hour during off-peak hours and 22 cents in the lowest price bracket, known as the valley. These figures, compiled by the comparator Selectra, are double those registered exactly one year ago when doing the laundry cost 23 euro cents per hour in the most expensive time slot and only around eight cents in the cheapest time slot.
Another essential electrical appliance during the heatwave is the air conditioner. According to Selectra’s calculations, cooling the house with this appliance will cost 37 cents per hour during peak hours, 22 cents during low hours and 16 cents during off-peak hours. If we compare these prices with those of 11 August 2020, we can see that they were considerably lower: 17 euro cents per hour in the ‘peak’ section and six cents in the ‘off-peak’ section.

Did archaeologists find the Trojan Horse?: Archaeologists who claimed they had unearthed remnants of the legendary Trojan Horse in Turkey have now found significant evidence that further supports their claim, according to an article by the Greek Reporter.
Turkish archaeologists excavating the site of the city of Troy on the hills of Hisarlik have discovered a large wooden structure that they believe are the remains of the Trojan Horse. These excavations include dozens of fir planks and beams up to 15 meters (49 feet) long, assembled in a strange form.
The wooden structure was found inside the walls of the ancient city of Troy.
Now, Boston University professors Christine Morris and Chris Wilson believe that “the carbon dating tests and other analyses have all suggested that the wooden pieces and other artifacts date from the 12th or 11th centuries BC.”
Archaeologists also discovered a damaged bronze plate with the inscription, “For their return home, the Greeks dedicate this offering to Athena.” Quintus Smyrnaeus refers to this plate in his epic poem “Posthomerica.” Full article: https://www.jpost.com/international/did-archaeologists-just-find-the-trojan-horse-676349

Netflix “Pirate Blocks” Spill over To Block Legit Users:
Netflix has stepped up its efforts to ban VPN and proxy users from bypassing geographical restrictions. The streaming service is now blocking “suspect” residential IP addresses too, since some unblocking tools use these to bypass restrictions. This isn’t without collateral damage as many regular Internet users without a VPN now report “missing content” on Netflix.
Over the past 24 hours alone, there were multiple reports from people who are suffering “missing title” issues. None of these appear to use a VPN. Full article: https://torrentfreak.com/netflix-intensifies-vpn-ban-and-targets-residential-ip-addresses-too-210811/
