Nerja’s “Summer in Los Cangrejos” programme of cultural shows: Next Wednesday, 1 September, the “Summer in Los Cangrejos” programme of cultural shows, which was postponed as a precautionary measure due to the spread of the coronavirus in the municipality, will begin.
It will begin with the screening of the Disney Pixar film Onward. Thus, for two weeks, every night there will be classical, jazz and contemporary music concerts, flamenco performances, theatre and magic shows, until the 15th of September, when the programme will end with the Nerja Music Band. All events are scheduled for 21.30 hours, except for the children’s festival on Sunday, 5 September, which will start at 21.00 hours.
CANCELLED/Postponed: Chanquete World Music Festival- Nerja. The councillor for Youth, Daniel Rivas, reports that the fifth edition of the festival Chanquete World Music, which was scheduled to be held next weekend in playa El Playazo, is postponed for the second consecutive year before the health crisis caused by COVID-19. The musical event will take place on September 3, 2022.

Covid Andalucia- Andalucía’s Covid incidence rate drops below 300: A total of 2,102 coronavirus positive tests have been recorded in the Andalusian region this Thursday, 26 August, that is 342 more in the last 24 hours and 71 more than those recorded seven days ago.

Electricity price in Spain breaks all records, with the most expensive bills in history on the way:
-The wholesale price of electricity in Spain continues to climb – without respite. When it was thought that it had peaked, this Thursday (26 August) the average daily price of electricity in the wholesale market will shoot to a new all-time high, reaching 122.76 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
-The previous record was set on 13 August, when the energy price hit 117.29 euros/MWh, but the latest increase will see it jump more than five euros compared to that. This is despite a brief drop in the wholesale price being registered last week.
-Therefore, the average wholesale price of electricity will be triple that of a year ago, when it stood at 46.25 euros.
-It means that the electricity bill of an average user in August will be the most expensive in history, with an increase in the first fortnight of 43.7 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the Facua consumers organisation.
-Therefore, the average user will pay 27.85 euros more than in August 2020, when the bill stood at 63.77 euros. The reduction in sales tax to 10 per cent until December, while the average price per megawatt hour is above 45 euros, dampens the rise by 9.16 euros. The Councillor for Development, Infrastructure and Territorial Planning, Marifrán Carazo, together with the mayors of the Axarquia region of Málaga, presented this Thursday the road safety project on the A-7207 road, which connects Canillas de Albaida and Torrox and which will receive an investment of 1.8 million euros to widen the roadway in a four kilometre stretch and improve traffic flow at a dangerous junction by building a roundabout. The section of the road runs between kilometres 0 and 4 of the A-7207, between the municipalities of Canillas de Albaida and Cómpeta. Dozens of civilians, 12 U.S. troops killed in Kabul airport attack: Islamic State struck the crowded gates of Kabul airport in a suicide bomb attack on Thursday, killing scores of civilians and 12 U.S. troops, and throwing into mayhem the airlift of tens of thousands of Afghans desperate to flee.
