APPLE EMERGENCY PATCH ALERT- Apple wants you to update your iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch ASAP! : Apple is warning users to update their devices as soon as possible after it fixed a major spyware flaw. The company has released emergency software updates in iOS 14.8 after learning of a vulnerability that let hackers break into Apple devices without users even clicking a link!
-Known as Pegasus, the spyware can record texts, emails, and phone calls, and share them. It can also turn on devices’ cameras and microphones. “This spyware can do everything an iPhone user can do on their device and more,” Citizen Lab researcher John Scott-Railton told the Times.
-Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Full article: https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-fixed-iphone-flaw-let-hackers-spy-without-link-clicks-2021-9
REVEALED- Fakebook exempts secret ‘whitelisted’ elite from its rules and allows them to post banned content with special XCheck program: The Silicon Valley giant’s program, called ‘XCheck’ or ‘cross check,’ created a so-called ‘whitelist’ of celebrities who are immune from enforcement, according to The Wall Street Journal.
XCheck’ allowed international soccer star Neymar to post nude photos of a woman who had accused him of rape in 2019. The images were deleted by Fakebook after a whole day, allowing them to be seen by Neymar’s tens of millions of his followers. Fakebook’s standard procedure calls for deleting ‘nonconsensual intimate imagery’ as well as deleting the account. But Neymar’s nude photos of the woman were allowed to remain in public view for more than 24 hours and his account was not deactivated. (Many other examples of celeb’s illegal posts evidently immune from FB censors in the full article. -Ed.)
Last year, ‘XCheck’ allowed posts that violated Fakebook guidelines to be viewed at least 16.4 billion times before they were finally removed, according to a document obtained by the Journal. US drone strike mistakenly targeted Afghan aid worker and nine family members, investigation finds:
-The US mistakenly targeted and killed an innocent aid worker for an American company in a drone strike in Afghanistan.
-The victim was 43-year-old Zemari Ahmadi, who died with nine members of his family, including seven children, when a missile from a US air force Reaper drone struck his car as he arrived home from work in a residential neighborhood of Kabul.
-US military officials have insisted the targets of the 29 August operation were Islamic State suicide bombers plotting an attack on Kabul airport
-What the US military observers figured was Ahmadi acting suspiciously, the newspaper said, was him going about his normal business as a worker for the California-based aid group Nutrition and Education International. The “explosives” in the vehicle were water cartons that Ahmadi filled from a hose at his office and was taking home to his family.
-The Washington Post also published its own investigation into the deadly US strike, which reached similar conclusions. Photo:Xinhua/Rex/Shutterstock. Full article: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/sep/11/us-drone-strike-mistakenly-targeted-afghan-aid-worker-investigation-finds
