Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.

SPAIN
Spain to give third dose to over 70s at same time as flu dose: {Translation, summary} Updated: 05/10/2021, 19:34h
-The over-70s will receive the third dose of the Covid vaccine in Spain, regardless of their state of health or whether or not they live in residential homes. The Public Health Commission, in which all the autonomous communities are represented, has given the green light to the inoculation of a booster dose for the elderly and has recommended doing so at the same time as the flu campaign.
-The advice of the technicians of the autonomous regions and the Ministry of Health is to start on 25 October with people over 70 years of age and continue with those over 65 years of age, provided that six months have passed since the last dose of the Covid vaccine. This time has already been exceeded by the vast majority of the elderly who were the first to be immunised in Spain. The booster dose will be made with an RNA technology vaccine, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
-The decision was taken on Tuesday with only the representatives of Madrid and Galicia voting against. The Community of Madrid expressed its disagreement because “there is still no scientific evidence to administer the booster dose. There is no urgency to administer it,” said sources from the Madrid Regional Ministry. The two communities are committed to focusing on starting the flu vaccination campaign for those over 65 years of age. However, other regional governments, such as Castilla-La Mancha, had asked to start the double immunisation, flu plus Covid booster, from the age of 65.
-Now the final green light is in the hands of the health ministers at the Interterritorial Health Council to be held this Wednesday.
-The Ministry of Health and the councillors had already approved administering the third dose to the elderly living in residences because there were sufficient doses and it was necessary to protect the most vulnerable. The Government plans to punish banks and oil companies with a minimum tax rate of 18%: The intention is that, in principle, the same scheme that was already thought in 2018 is followed. Then it was already agreed between PSOE and Podemos a minimum rate of 15% general and 18% for these two areas. The accounts of that year did not go ahead and the measure was parked by the Covid-19. France threatens to cut off UK’s energy again in new fishing row:
Earlier this year, France threatened to cut off energy during a dispute over fishing rights in the sea off Jersey’s coast. France has again threatened to cut the UK off from energy supplies if the terms of the Brexit deal aren’t stuck to.
Asked what actions could be taken, Mr Beaune pointed to both UK exports to France and European energy exports to the UK.
“The UK depends on our energy exports, they think they can live alone while also beating up on Europe and, given that it doesn’t work, they engage in aggressive one-upmanship,” he added.
His comments came after Paris became angered by a series of application rejections to fish in British waters. Full article: https://news.sky.com/story/france-threatens-to-again-cut-off-uks-energy-in-brexit-row-12426857

Following this decision, the government has put an end to the amber list, on which the majority of EU member states were previously placed and, as such, obliged to undergo quarantine and double testing requirements upon arrival in the UK.
However, the authorities have since Monday introduced the green and red list countries, with travellers of the latter being subject to more stringent entry rules.

Inflammatory micro clots in blood of individuals suffering from Long COVID: New research indicates that an overload of various inflammatory molecules, literally “trapped” inside insoluble microscopic blood clots (micro clots), might be the cause of some of the lingering symptoms experienced by individuals with Long COVID.
-The findings have since been peer-reviewed and published in the journal Cardiovascular Diabetology in August 2021.
“We found high levels of various inflammatory molecules trapped in micro clots present in the blood of individuals with Long COVID. Some of the trapped molecules contain clotting proteins such as fibrinogen, as well as alpha(2)-antiplasmin,” Prof Pretorius explains.
-“Of particular interest is the simultaneous presence of persistent anomalous micro clots and a pathological fibrinolytic system,” they write in the research paper. This implies that the plasmin and antiplasmin balance may be central to pathologies in Long COVID, and provides further evidence that COVID-19, and now Long COVID, have significant cardiovascular and clotting pathologies. Fakebook, WhatsApp and Instagram Back Online After 7hr Outage, But Some Users Are Still Reporting Problems: Their explanation? “Routine maintenance on Facebook’s network stitching together its data centers caused Monday’s collapse of its global system for more than six hours,” the company said on Tuesday. (Like they couldn’t do FB maintenance without taking WhatsApp and Instagram totally off line for 7hrs? Yeah, right. If that’s true, that it was for scheduled “routine maintenance”, then why were no warnings issued of possible downtime to the millions of businesses that were forced to take an unexpected day off? FB does not do that type of maintenance during the business hours in the US/EU to avoid this exact problem. Just more Zuckerberg BS. -Ed)

4 Big Takeaways From the Facebook Whistleblower Congressional Hearing Tuesday:
-At the US Senate on Tuesday, Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen, a former Facebook project manage, testified that the social media site’s products “harm children, stoke division and weaken our democracy,” and that congressional intervention is needed.
-The hearing came in the wake of Haugen leaking tens of thousands of pages of company documents to senators showing that Facebook has failed to fix numerous problems that it’s long known about, and in some cases made them worse.
-“I think we’re going to look back 20 years from now and all of us are going to be like, ‘What the hell were we thinking,’ when we recognize the damage that [Facebook] has done to a generation,” Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan said.
