Presenter: Ray Sullivan (and wife Janet live in Torrox part time). Ray’s programme charts the state of the British pop scene thru’ to the Merseybeat explosion of 1962-64 and the subsequent British Invasion of America, spearheaded by The Beatles and The Searchers. The music has been recorded on cd. and there are 24 tracks lasting roughly 2 hours, with 25 mins of presentation and a 15 min. interval. The show has been featured at the Capistrano Social Hall in 20219 and was enthusiastically received. Join us for an entertaining musical stroll through memory lane! Power Cuts: Can somebody explain why that in Spain when it rains the power goes off? I’m not talking about electrical storms, gale force winds, just rain. On Christmas day I counted eleven mini power cuts, lasting from seconds to about five minutes but every one of them enough to shut down the router, muck up the house phone and switch off the tele, which then has to fire itself up again.
If the power went off in England when it rained it would never be on. If you are in El Morche but didn’t suffer this it’s because our block is electrically attached to Velez. Carole, El Morche.

Electric falls this Monday from 100 euros per MWh and marks its lowest price in almost two months: The average price of electricity will give families and companies a truce on Monday. The amount paid in the wholesale market continues its downward trend and will be tomorrow, December 27 below 100 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) for the first time since last November 1. After marking levels never seen during this week, electricity will cost about 96.08 euros per MWh on mid-morning, according to data published today by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE).
-The price contrast will once again be very marked depending on the different time bands. The maximum price tomorrow will take place this Monday between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., when it will reach 207.10 euros / MWh. The minimum price will plummet to 2.67 euros / MWh between 2:00 and 6:00 in the morning.
-The collapse in the cost of electricity occurs after the historical maximum, located at 383.67 euros / MWh, was recorded in Spain on December 23. Since then, the price has fallen by 75% in just four days that coincide with the Christmas holidays and that have an impact on the demand being much lower due to the lack of activity of companies, industries and large consumers.
-The causes of the reduction in the price of electricity in the middle of Christmas are explained by lower demand, but also by the reduction in the price of gas. Based on data from the Iberian Gas Market (Mibgas), the cost of this raw material today stands at 67.38 euros per MWh, well below the maximums set in recent days. The price of gas has fallen after the United States sent dozens of shipments of liquefied natural gas. These shipments will help balance cuts from Russia, which remains Europe’s main gas supplier. Covid restrictions come into force in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as Omicron numbers rise:
-With a record number of cases recorded in the UK on Christmas Eve, three UK nations have put new restrictions. New Covid-19 restrictions have come into effect on Boxing Day in three UK nations, leaving England as the only country without updated rules.
-Prime Minister Boris Johnson hasn’t ruled out reinstating stricter Covid-19 measures however, but i understands they wouldn’t come in place before 29 December.
-New rules in Scotland limit indoor events to 100 people standing or 200 people sitting, while outdoor events are limited to 500. One metre of social distancing will also be required at public events.

Tighter restrictions are being introduced from 27 December as groups of people meeting will be limited to three households. Pubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and gyms must enforce one metre social distancing between groups and table service will be required in venues selling alcohol.
-In Wales, all nightclubs will be closed and two metre social distancing will be reintroduced in offices and public places like shops. No more than six people can meet at pubs, restaurants and cinemas, regardless of how many households. Indoor events will be limited to 30 people, including in private homes, and outdoor events will be limited to 50 people.
-Nightclubs will be closed in Northern Ireland and any other standing indoor events will also be banned. Pubs, restaurants and cafes will only provide table service as of from 6am on 27 December, and a maximum of six people from different households will be allowed to sit together.
-On 24 December, the last day Covid-19 statistics were released before the Christmas weekend, England had 104,260 confirmed new cases of the virus. Scotland had 7,070, Wales had 6,755 and Northern Ireland had 3,286.
