SUSPENDED- The Nerja New Year’s Eve party is suspended on the Balcón de Europa: The Department of Popular Traditions has decided to suspend the New Year’s Eve party on the Balcón de Europa, given the increase in the incidence of coronavirus in the municipality (to 865.5 as of Wed 5pm). This decision does not affect the rest of the scheduled activities, both for the days before New Year’s Eve, and for the next week. Source: FB link
CHANGE OF FORMAT- Vélez-Málaga will enjoy the Three Kings and the Royal Postman with a static and 100% safe tour:
-The City Council of Vélez-Málaga announces this parade format so that the little ones can enjoy delivering the letters with their requests and see the Kings, whom they can visit on January 3 and 5 for a Christmas circuit in the enclosed Velez fair ensuring the health and safety of participants and visitors at all times.
Thus are suspended the parades of the rest of the towns of the municipality to unify into a single location in Velez-Malaga. The City Council of Velez-Malaga enabled for the second year a static Christmas circuit on the esplanade of the fairgrounds Velez for all families who wish to go to visit the Royal Postman, on January 3, and The Three Kings of the East, on January 5.
The Christmas tour to visit the Royal Postman will be open January 3, from 12:00 to 20:30, and on January 5 to visit the Three Kings, from 12:00 to 22:00.

Spain’s Ministry of Health cuts the Covid quarantine period to seven days: The national Ministry of Health and the regions in Spain have agreed to reduce the quarantine period for people who test positive for Covid-19 from ten to seven days.
-The measure, adopted unanimously, went against the position of the Health Risk Report, which advised against reducing the isolation period and maintaining it at ten days.
-Similarly, unvaccinated individuals who have been in close contact with a positive will also have their isolation period shortened to seven days, compared to the ten at present. New aid for low-income families in Spain: The government has earmarked 100 euros per month for each child under three years of age; 70 euros for each child between three and six years old; and 50 euros per month for those between six years of age and of legal age. Axarquia Provides Covid Certificates, No Digital Devices Needed:

The Town Hall of Vélez-Málaga has set up a new point to facilitate the Covid Vaccination Certificate to those citizens who do not have the digital means to obtain it. This point will be located in the building of the Community Social Services and will be in operation until January 7.
Gonzalez explained that this initiative “is the result of an agreement with the Citizen Care service of the Eastern Health Area of Malaga – Axarquia and will have staff from the same to issue the certificate to those citizens from anywhere in the Axarquia who do not have knowledge or digital means to obtain it.
Citizens interested in making use of this service should go to the Community Social Services of Velez-Malaga, located in Calle Hojalateros and access through the entrance of the car park of the building, from 8.30 to 15.00 hours. In order to obtain this certificate it is essential to present the person’s identity document (DNI, NIE, Passport). Guilty- Ghislaine Maxwell convicted in Epstein sex abuse case: The British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted Wednesday of luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by the American millionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
