Covid Andalucia- Andalusia again lowers its Covid incidence and also ICU patients, deaths rise to 30: {Translation, summary} 12/01/2022 13:15
-The sixth wave of Covid continues to lose strength in Andalusia. This is highlighted by the fact that the incidence rate of the pandemic fell this Wednesday for the second consecutive day, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health. This figure now stands at 1,560 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 49 points less than yesterday. One week on, it is also down to 557 – when yesterday it was 594.
-However, the number of infections is still very high. Andalusia reported 11,565 on Wednesday, a figure somewhat higher than the previous day and also than that reported on the same day last week. However, it is a far cry from the almost 40,000 reported on Monday 3 January, the more than 15,000 on 31 December and the almost 20,000 on the 27th of the same month.
-As with all waves, the first thing to fall is the number of cases and incidence, a trend that already seems to be underway. Next will be hospital admissions, then ICUs, and finally deaths. But until that time, these numbers will continue to grow, a product of the rise in infections in previous weeks.
-The number of hospitalised patients rose to 1,724 on Wednesday, 21 more than the previous day. This is the smallest increase in two weeks. To put this in context, yesterday they rose by more than 200. In the ICU there is a slight drop today. From 229 to 227, which is also encouraging.
-However, the worst news comes from the number of deaths. There are 30 on Wednesday, the highest number in months. This rise in the number of deaths from Covid in Andalusia fits in with a scenario in which the peak of the wave has been passed. Because, when the number of infections drops, the number of deaths still rises for several weeks. In any case, since the beginning of the pandemic, 11,692 people have died in the region. The DGT informs of the new way to recover driving license points, and other new rules: {Translation} 12/01/2022 11:12
-The new Road Safety Law approved by the Spanish Congress of Deputies brings with it new features regarding the driving licence points system. One of the most important is the possibility of recovering up to two points by voluntarily taking safe and efficient driving courses certified by the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).
-These courses will have certain requirements and conditions (to be developed through a ministerial order) in order to be able to participate. One of them will be to have a positive balance of points on the licence. They may take place once every two years and for each course, two points will be obtained, up to a maximum of 15.
-On the other hand, the period of time that must elapse without infringements for a driver to be able to recover the initial balance of points on his or her licence has been unified at two years.
-As the DGT reminds us, users start with 12 points, except for novice drivers, who initially have 8 points.
-Serious or very serious offences can result in the loss of between two and six points. Until now, the period to recover them ranged from two to three years, depending on the seriousness of the offence. When the new measures come into force, it will be two years in all cases, as long as all the points have not been lost.
-In addition to all this, there are some behaviours that from now on will mean a greater loss of licence points, such as driving while holding a mobile phone, which will go from three to six points; or not wearing a seat belt, which will now mean four points less instead of three.
-The DGT itself has announced these changes on its Twitter account, which will come into force on 21 March, three months after their publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on 21 December.

World Economic Forum warns of risks in Spain: {Translation, summary}
The World Economic Forum has warned of several risks for Spain, including employment levels and the demographic crisis, prolonged economic stagnation, the debt crisis in advanced economies, the possible failure of climate action and the possible fracturing of domestic policies.
In its seventeenth issue of the global risks report, the Forum has warned that the first risk for Spain is that of employment and the demographic crisis. In this sense, Spain, together with Montenegro and Turkey, are the only European countries where the main risk is related to employment.
The second risk is associated with prolonged economic stagnation, followed by a possible debt crisis in advanced economies, the possible failure of climate action and an internal breakdown of Spanish politics.

ANDALUCIA
Andalusia dodges the restrictions due to Covid by leaving almost the entire community on alert level 2: {Translation} 01/12/2022 16:23
-Andalusia has been spared another week of restrictions due to Covid. And it does so because there is no area of the community that exceeds level 2 health alert, as reported Wednesday by the territorial committees that analyse the epidemiological situation in each province. Thus, all of Andalusia is now at level 2 except for Huelva, which remains at level 1.
-Until the entry into force of the Covid passport, both level 1 and 2 were accompanied by the entry into force of certain limitations on capacity and timetables. However, this is no longer the case. At least until 30 January, when the Board’s decision lapses, levels 1 and 2 will act as in the case of level 0, i.e. without restrictions.
-This decision, explained the Health Department, is taken into account several factors: the incidence at two weeks, at one week, in the over-65s, Covid tests, the number of hospital and ICU beds occupied and vaccination coverage. “Cloud” Services Are Spreading Malware- Threat actors are actively incorporating public cloud services from Amazon and Microsoft into their malicious campaigns: These deliver remote access trojans (RATs) such as Nanocore, Netwire, and AsyncRAT to siphon sensitive information from compromised systems.
Using existing infrastructure to facilitate intrusions is increasingly becoming part of an attacker’s playbook as it obviates the need to host their own servers, not to mention using it as a cloaking mechanism to evade detection by security solutions.
In recent months, collaboration and communication tools like Discord, Slack, and Telegram have found a place in many an infection chain to commandeer and exfiltrate data from the victim machines.
A new cloud based attack called “SysJoker” has been observed targeting machines running Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems as part of an ongoing espionage campaign that’s believed to have been initiated during the second half of 2021.

Editor’s Note: I know I am repeating myself, so sorry for another sermon on the cloud. However, this article confirms what I have been claiming since they introduced the “Cloud Services”. It is impossible to secure the Cloud! The Cloud Is NOT Secure, It Gets Hacked Regularly, It Gets Data Mined and Now It Spreads Malware. Do NOT store confidential items in the cloud, consider anything you upload to the cloud as public access. Do NOT rely on the cloud for storing items you can not afford to lose, for those items you should have a primary backup on an external memory device. Popular cloud services include Google Drive, Microsoft Azure, Dropbox and One Drive.
US Federal Trade Commission Given OK To Force Monopilist Meta (Facebook) To Sell Off Instagram and WhatsApp: A previous version of the same action failed last year because of a lack of detail.
The FTC has since revised the case and a federal judge has said the claim is now “far more robust” and can go ahead.
The FTC’s claim revolves around the idea Facebook had systematically bought up rivals to eliminate competition, effectively giving itself a monopoly. The key examples were Instagram and WhatsApp, which Facebook acquired in 2012 and 2014.
The FTC was seeking “divestiture” – the selling off of those companies to eliminate the alleged monopoly. Full article: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-59968565
