Days of Punk photo exhibition: Now Open
La Termica Cultural Centre in Malaga has over 100 pictures by photographer Michael Grecco. He took the photos at nightclubs in Boston and New York when punk rock was just emerging in the late 1970s. The exhibition also includes a soundtrack and documentary. Until 26 June. Open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 2pm and 5 to 8.30pm. Free entry.

POSTPONED– Motril cancels Plácido Domingo concert this Saturday, after storm damage to bullring: This Saturday’s Plácido Domingo concert, on 26 March, has been cancelled due to damage to Motril’s bullring, where the event was due to take place. It was to be the first time that the world-famous opera singer would give a concert to sing in the Granada province town.

-On Thursday 24 March, Andalusia recorded a total of 5,433 positive results for Covid-19 in 24 hours, 2,680 more than those reported on the same day last week and the highest figure since 24 February (7,036), while there were 13 deaths, two fewer than on the previous Thursday.

-Andalusia has registered this Thursday 24 March a fall of three patients hospitalised by coronavirus compared to Tuesday to a total of 545, while ICU admissions have risen by three to 63, the second consecutive day of increases.
-In the case of ICU patients, they have risen by three this Thursday, after having increased by one on Wednesday and having remained unchanged for four days since they fell by seven on Saturday, four on Friday and increased by three last Thursday, when there were 70 people in intensive care units.

Government proposes direct aid to end the hauliers’ strike in Spain:
-The Spanish government wants to close a deal with the striking hauliers this week to minimise the impact which rising fuel prices has had on their activity. In a meeting with the National Road Transport Committee on Thursday morning, they outlined plans for direct aid which would reduce fuel prices.
-The negotations were led by Nadia Calviño, the Minister for Economic Affairs, Raquel Sánchez, the Minister of Transport, and María Jesús Montero, the Minister of Finance. The focus was on how the 500 million euros proposed to subsidise commercial fuel will be distributed. According to Europa Press, the hauliers want the subsidy increased to one billion euros. The first anticovid pills will begin to be distributed on Monday: The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has signed this Thursday with the director of the Pfizer Spain and international company, Sergio Rodríguez, the agreement for the acquisition and distribution of 344,000 complete treatments of the drug Paxlovid against covid-19, known as the anticovid pill. Price of gasoline and diesel falls this week for the first time in 2022:
The price of gasoline and diesel fell this week for the first time so far this year, after eleven consecutive weeks of increases and after breaking all records due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its impact on rising oil prices.
Specifically, the average price of a liter of gasoline in Spain has moderated to 1.813 euros, which represents a reduction of 1.68% compared to last week, while in the case of diesel it stands at 1.797 euros and the decrease is 1.1%. Canary Islands Lifts Remaining Local COVID-19 Restrictions: Starting today travellers will be able to attend different places in the Canary Islands without being subject to measures as the authorities have decided to lift all of its remaining COVID-19 restrictions.
-Bars, restaurants, cafes, and other public places will no longer have a limit on their capacity or on the operating hours. This means that travellers who reach the Canary Islands can attend different eating and drinking places in large groups without having to worry about the limitations.

Moreno announces three-month exemption from port taxes for fishermen: {Translation}
-The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, announced on Thursday that they are going to exempt Andalusian fishermen from paying port and fishing fees for three months in order to “help them” and try to partially “cushion” the increase in costs they are suffering.
-Moreno, in the control session in Parliament in response to UN Podemos, has also advanced that the rates for the agricultural sector in agronomic medical services, veterinary services and agricultural and livestock laboratory services will be subsidised.

-Four individuals connected to the illegal streaming of copyrighted content have been handed prison sentences in the UK totaling more than 10 years. Three men and a woman were convicted of fraud and money laundering for offenses against broadcasters including Sky and BT Sport. Assets have also been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The investigation formed part of a wider investigation coordinated by Europol. New drug multiplies survival rate for women with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer: An international study has found that patients given trastuzumab deruxtecan had an estimated overall survival rate of 94% after 12 months.
When trastuzumab deruxtecan was compared with trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1), the current standard of care for patients whose tumors have not responded to first-line treatment, it achieved much better results. According to the trial, which involved 524 people from 15 countries, the percentage of participants who were alive without disease progression at 12 months was 75.8%, compared to 34.1% for those who had been given trastuzumab emtansine. What’s more, the estimated 12-month overall survival rate was 94.1%, compared to 85.9% for T-DM1.
