Today – Nerja hosts the XXVIII Provincial Chess Circuit: Fri. 27 Aug, 4-9pm. At the Nerja Municipal Indoor Pavilion.
The tournament will be played in seven rounds, uses the Swiss system, and will be valid for the Elo scoring system of the Andalusian Federation FADA.
There is no age limit to participate, and both children and adults can register. The deadline will remain open until Friday, 26 August, and must be made through the website of the Chess Delegation of Malaga, http://www.ajedrezmalaga.org

Torremolinos Flamenco Festival- Sept 10th: Town hall has announced that the XXXIII edition of its famous flamenco festival will be held in the Plaza de Toros on Saturday 10 September. – Nerja has launched a new municipal tax portal that will make tax payments easier and more efficient and will save residents from having to go to the bank or town hall.

Fleet of hydrogen powered passenger trains begins service in Germany: The 14 trains use hydrogen fuel cells to generate electricity that powers the engines. The German government has backed expanding the use of hydrogen as a clean alternative to fossil fuels.
Alstom says the Coradia iLint trains have a range of up to 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) and a maximum speed of 140 kph (87 mph). By using hydrogen produced with renewable energy the trains will save 1.6 million liters (more than 422,000 gallons) of diesel fuel a year.
