The Axarquia Film Festival: 7-22 Oct 2022
– La Axarquía Film Festival is an annual event and is unique in the Andalusian audiovisual scene. Its aim is to bring cinema and its production to the rural municipalities of the Axarquia region and the province, with less than 5,000 inhabitants, thus improving the audiovisual cultural offer and promoting these territories as cultural tourist destinations.
– The festival begins in the capital of the Axarquia on October 7th and will continue with an itinerant programme in the eight municipalities which, in addition to Vélez-Málaga, are Almáchar, El Borge, Moclinejo, Benamargosa, Benamocarra, Macharaviaya and Iznate.
– It runs until 22 October and will be screened in the squares, streets and churches of these municipalities films created within the framework of the Axarquia Rural Film School as well as other selected short films of fiction, documentary and animation; all first works or second works of students and emerging filmmakers from all over Spain that can be enjoyed free of charge in open-air public spaces.
– The closing gala will be held on the 22nd of October in the town of Almáchar, where the works awarded by the juries will be announced and the prizes in the different competition sections will be presented.

NOTICE!
Submissions for posting in sections below
must include this info or they will be returned !!!
Sender's First Name / Nearest Town
Note: You may additionally include a location to meet or pickup,
but your location is required in any case. If selling an item from a location different from where you reside, you must include both.
For example: "...Buyer collects in Nerja, John/Malaga"
Why? DigameXtra covers a large area. So, for example, readers in Motril are unlikely to make recommendations, or call about most for-sale items, if they know you are located in Coin. As for including both locations in for-sale posts, the buyer needs to know where to collect the item, but they will also want to know where you are from in case there is a problem. Your cooperation is appreciated.

DoctorLaptop’s Computer Repairs & Services: Have your computer properly maintained with an annual professional servicing to keep it clean, running cool and thus extend its life. You don’t wait till your car engine freezes before you change your oil, now do you? If you do, the repair costs far more than the oil changes you skipped. It’s the same with computers. An inexpensive annual maintenance service is far cheaper than waiting until the device is annoyingly slow and popping up error messages, and thus in need of an expensive repair. Today’s computers are more compact, have smaller fans, and work much harder than your old Win XP laptop. So they must be treated properly to maintain optimum performance. Old laptops were like common Volkswagens; today’s laptops are more like Porsches, in performance as well as in maintenance requirements. Today’s malware and spyware wants to collect your data, not break or slow down your machine. Just because your computer is running OK does not mean it is free of malware and trackers. Infected computers can provide vital info to identity thieves & bank account hackers. Protect your computer & your privacy with annual servicing. My working hours are 2pm to 8pm, Monday thru Friday. The Doctor is closed on weekends. Saturday pickups are possible by appointment. I don’t answer the phone before 12pm, missed calls will be returned that afternoon. Always include the patient’s make and model number when making support requests. DoctorLaptop’s Website & Contact Info: doctorlaptop@protonmail.com or call 675 993 069 after 12pm. If You Don’t Approve of Sex Education in Classroom, You Must “enjoy the bodies of boys, girls and women without their sexual consent,” Says Secretary of State for Equality, Angela Rodriguez:
{Translation, summary}
– The Secretary of State for Equality, Ángela Rodríguez, defended sex education in the classroom on Tuesday, and said that those who are bothered by it are those who “enjoy the bodies of boys, girls and women without their sexual consent.”
– Rodríguez made this statement during her appearance before the Senate Equality Committee in response to statements made by the minister Irene Montero last week on the right to receive affective-sexual education, which representatives from the conservative Vox and Ciudadanos parties interpreted as her having defended relations with children.
-In this sense, she emphasized that this education serves to explain at school that it is right to treat well and wrong to treat badly, to learn about emotions, contraception and consent because, in her opinion, it is the only possible way to understand “how to have a consensual sexual relationship”. (Controversial topics like the new “gender options” are also included, drawing the ire of some parents. And this is how the Spanish Secretary of State for Equality publicly replies to concerned parents? -Ed. ) Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1083444/igualdad-afirma-que-la-educacion-sexual-molesta-a-quien-disfruta-del-sexo-no-consentido/
ANDALUCIA
New rules for ride-hailing companies in Andalucía- no waiting outside stations and hotels, tests for drivers and fare controls:
– The regional government says the regulations have been designed to enable companies such as Uber, Cabify and Bolt to operate while also protecting the taxi sector, but neither is happy.
– The Junta de Andalucía has approved new regulations that will enable ride-hailing companies such as Uber, Cabify and Bolt to continue operating within towns and cities from 1 October. If it had not done so, the vehicles would only have been able to transport passengers between towns and not within the same municipality.
– The regulations restrict the ride-hailing firms in order to protect the taxi sector, which sees them as unfair competition. The drivers will not be able to pick up passengers from busy areas such as airports, railway stations, bus stations, hotels and shopping centres unless pre-booked and clients will no longer be able to use the geo-location system to see where a vehicle is before booking it. EUROPE
Europe investigates ‘attacks’ on Russian gas pipelines to Europe:
– Europe was investigating on Tuesday what Germany, Denmark and Sweden said were attacks which had caused major leaks into the Baltic Sea from two Russian gas pipelines at the centre of an energy standoff. But it remained far from clear who might be behind the leaks that were first reported on Monday or any foul play, if proven, on the Nord Stream pipelines that Russia and European partners spent billions of dollars building.
– German Economy Minister Robert Habeck told business leaders the leaks were due to targeted attacks on the infrastructure and Berlin now knew for sure “that they were not caused by natural occurrences or events or material fatigue.” Sweden’s and Denmark’s prime ministers said the leaks were clearly caused by deliberate actions, with information suggesting likely sabotage, while Poland’s premier blamed sabotage, without citing evidence. Moscow’s proxies in occupied Ukraine regions claim landslide votes to join Russia: 27/09/2022
– Russian-installed officials in occupied regions of Ukraine reported huge majorities on Tuesday in favour of becoming part of Russia after five days of voting in so-called referendums that Kyiv and the West have denounced as a sham.
– Hastily arranged votes had taken place in four areas – the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, and to the south Zaporizhzhia and Kherson – that make up about 15% of Ukrainian territory.
– Luhansk authorities said 98.5% of people there had voted to join Russia, based on 69% of ballots counted. In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian-appointed official put the figure at 93.1 % with the count now completed. while in Kherson the “yes” vote was running at more than 87%, according to the head of the voting committee. Russia’s Tass news agency said 93.95% in Donetsk region had voted in favour, with nearly 32% of the ballots counted. Number of People Living in Germany Exceeded 84 Million for the First Time:
– Destatis pointed out that such an extensive growth of the population was recorded only in 1992 when borders opened in eastern Europe and in 2015 when a high number of migrants left their country to reach Germany.
– “The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that following German reunification, such extensive population growth was recorded only in 1992 (+700,000), when borders had been opened in eastern Europe and war was waged in Yugoslavia, and in 2015, when migrants fled to Germany (+978,000). Private Physicians Complaints Against Insurers Likely To Drive Up Private Medical Insurance Rates, Doctors Asking 145 percent Increase In Fees For Services: {Translation}
– Doctors in private health care are on a “war footing” with insurance companies. Members of the Andalusian Council of Medical Associations speak of a “critical” situation, with “indecent” conditions and fees.
– The self-employed doctors who have opted for the private sector are demanding that the insurers sit down to negotiate and are asking for a 145 percent increase in fees. According to the president of the Andalusian Council of Medical Associations, Antonio Aguado, the companies continue to pay “prices similar to those of 30 years ago”. For example, they charge “around seven euros for the first consultation, half that for the second and nothing for the third, but we have to continue to provide care because we owe it to our patients”. “They take advantage of the doctors,” said Alfonso Carmona, spokesman for Free Practice for the Andalusian Council of Medical Associations.
– Complaints are also made about the long working hours “in order to have a decent salary” and the contractual conditions. “In the private sector I don’t have holidays, if I leave I stop producing,” says Carmona, like any other self-employed worker, “and we don’t have the right to maternity or sick leave either, if I break a leg and am off work for three weeks not a penny comes into my house; I go out if I have insurance, which has to be paid for.
– José Luis Perea, secretary general of the Association of Self-Employed Workers, has indicated that not only do they want “decent” rates, but also that with the improvement in conditions “a better quality of care is allowed and patient safety is not compromised; at the end of the private sector we cannot make a public sector two, with queues and delays”.
– The Spanish government and the Andalusian regional government are asked to “take action” and mediate with the insurers.
– In Andalusia, 13,118 doctors work in private health care. In Malaga there are 4,073, the third Spanish city with the most doctors in the private sector. Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1083333/los-medicos-privados-contra-las-aseguradoras/

– Portugal, winners of the inaugural Nations League in 2019, needed just a point in Braga to finish top of Group A2 but dropped to second as Morata tapped in Nico Williams’ header on 88 minutes.

SPACE
This is when you can next see the strange stream of lights in the night sky that appeared on Sunday:
– These lights were Starlink satellites which had been launched by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company. They are being sent up to space in groups of around 50 at a time, and the intention is to have 4,000 there in total to provide internet coverage over the entire world including the most remote areas.
– Anyone who is sorry not to have seen the lights on that occasion may have another chance soon. Astrophysicist José María Madiedo, the chief researcher at the Smart Project, has said that another launch is being planned from Cape Cañaveral in Florida on 30 September.
